The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

6 years of membership on these boards today. Also, 6 years since buying my first BTC today. Also, 6 years of hodling today (well.... at least for a great part).

How's it hangin' dudezzz?

Should've been here more often but times have been relatively shitty at FR1980's place in recent times. Have been following up on WO quite often tho and hoping to keep up and be more active again in coming times.

Hope you're all doing great. Kiss #nh

First of all congrats on all three of your anniversary items all falling on the same date.  What a coincidence.

Of course, lump sum investing is easier to calculate, and in mid-2016 we largely had a rip up from the lower $400s until the $700s, but then we had the Bitfinex hackening crash that pushed up back to the lower $500s and even taking awhile to get back up to $700 but then into 2017 we had ongoing uppity throughout..

Surely not easy times for ongoing buying either.. but would have been the right thing to attempt to front load between $500-ish and even lower $2ks.. which could have been accomplished for your first year.. even though we all make mistakes along the way, too.  I am not going to attempt to make too many presumptions about your situation, even though if you were able to get away with an average BTC price of less than $5k or even less than $3k, you have been decently well (and maybe some devils in the details regarding how many you got.. which is your own business)..

Second point is regarding your business..   Remember when you first came to this thread, you said that you were going to read the whole thread from the beginning, and within a few weeks you seem to have had given up on that.. which reminds me of a claim that I had made recently after buying a new car, I said that I tend to read the whole manual, and it was well over a 1000 pages, and I doubt that I have even read 100 pages, so far... a daunting task..

Well, Bitcoin memes are always entertaining to see. I also shared a lot of Bitcoin memes in WO. But, A few weeks ago (or over a month), I saw a guy who was so angry about it. I can't remember who it was. But, He was telling members to go on Twitter and share their memes and enjoy. He was asking not to share memes in the WO thread because he feels annoyed. I didn't reply to him, but I didn't post memes in the WO thread, and I thought we would see fewer memes here. But, WO is WO. Free to post anything related to Bitcoin. I see some legendary members Share Merit to those memes. Bitcoin memes are related to Bitcoin, and it's entertaining. Isn't it? Would you mind if I also share Bitcoin Memes here? I know people would say that's merit fishing. Everyone says they don't post for merits, But they do.

No, Not at all. I'm afraid I have to disagree with this meme. BTC is scarcer than gold. This is Planet Earth; nobody knows how much gold is still mineable. We also heard there is such a planet with colossal gold. We have one Currency named Bitcoin, and it has a limited supply. You cannot mine more than 21 Million Bitcoin. Bitcoin doesn't have to replace gold. Gold Cannot replace Bitcoin.

@friends1980 congrats for completing 6 years of your bitcoin and bitcointalk.org journey.

@JayJuanGee, I first came to know about Bitcoin in second quarter of 2017 and AFAIK price of bitcoin at that time was around 1200$ to 1300$. Digging deep the bitcoin at that time I came to know that price of Bitcoin is now very high compared to what it was in 2016 and in previous years. I have to admit that I say to myself that "its too late now to buy Bitcoin" (someone completely new to Bitcoin can say that) and then we saw ATH of Bitcoin on 19 Dec 2022 i.e. 19k$.

After spending few years in bitcoin I can safely that current price of Bitcoin is not very high and its good if you can start DCA at this price.

And yes its not late to buy bitcoin even now.

All those Ethereum fanboys gonna get rekt when they realize the fiat value of their precious token was in the mining and not in the utility. The utility will still be there when it goes to POS but the price won't.

Then you don't understand what is happening.

I agree that there are many things wrong with Ethereum but saying it's worthless it's very naive...

Please show where I say worthless?

https://www.911metallurgist.com/blog/the-cost-to-mine-different-cryptocurrencies-in-every-country

Cost of mining dictates the price, not the other way around.....Please read a book or something

No, supply and demand dictates the price, nothing else, read a book, preferably economics 101.

Bitcoin can't be for everyone,  it's either some are hodling or some are selling at any giving price.  If everyone decides to hodl and sell when the price is high, its impossible.  Bitcoin is made particularly for the strong people. 💪
