Bitcoin is a P2P value transfer system that was designed to be an upgrade of the traditional financial systems. Bitcoin survived because it's useful and people see it as better alternative to fiat. Bitcoin has done well in its 13yrs of existence and adoption is steadily growing.
Dan Held
Sure you may well be wanting to earn merits - or sure maybe you are just wanting to share Dan Held's idea with us; however, minimum threshold for a newbie to inspire** another member to send an smerit may well be to either provide a link or to provide some comments regarding whether you agree or disagree with the statement, and maybe explain why you agree or disagree **please note that members (who happen to have smerits in their bank) can send smerits for any reason at all or no reason at all with a few other caveats that I need not mention in this context.. .. since my point is that newbies need to UP their posting game if they expect to be inspiring other members to send them any smerits when they are merely telling us what someone else said and not even providing a link for that472 days? We had an ATH less than a year ago. What an idiot. Umm... perhaps the guy meant the first top for some reason? I'm not sure though need to count. Also not sure why he disregards the ATH? In the last several months (maybe as far back as March/April 2022 - after the end of 2021 supra $100k top did not come into reality as scheduled/planned?) there were a lot of folks (even active members in this thread) proclaiming that April 2021 was the real top and that the November 2021 higher top did not matter... blah blah blah... Do you need me to name names? I doubt it would be necessary it was a common enough proclamation that is not exactly dead in current times, either. 472 days? We had an ATH less than a year ago. What an idiot. Umm... perhaps the guy meant the first top for some reason? I'm not sure though need to count. Also not sure why he disregards the ATH? How long is a piece of string? Is that a trick question? or a trap?

Happy Bitcoin Independence Day. A special walk down memory lane, for those who came to Bitcoin within the past five years:Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scalingThis thread is full of idiots who wants to lose money. [...] This altcoin will be dumped to the ground.
Re: Bitmain announces plan to create altcoin if BIP148 succeedsHere's my small creation. Re: Bitmain announces plan to create altcoin if BIP148 succeedsI have already stated that the ASIC monopoly and mining cartel are much more dangerous than any kind of scaling issues. Just so that we are clear, all these idiots in altcoins parading "we are the best, we will win next" will get crushed. This is the time to be watching and learning from Bitcoin, i.e. how Bitcoin combats and resists malicious actors such as Bitmain.
Re: Antbleed: A remote shutdown backdoor in antminersFranky on ASICBOOST exposure: All is good. Ignore temporary drama. Franky on AntBleed exposure: All is good. Ignore temporary drama. Franky when someone mentions SegWit: "DOOMSDAY. TEMPORARY GESTURE. BLOCKSTREAM. BOMBS." Re: Antbleed: A remote shutdown backdoor in antminers2. BU miners under Bitmain lead, have ASICBOOST, so they can invoke a 30% gain at any given time, on their own miners
This is partially correct. You're overestimating. ASICBOOST can save about ~20% in energy costs. However, at current profit margins of ~1% that translates to a ~2000% increase in profits. 3. Now Antbleed has been revealed; a method that, until 48 hours ago, could have been used to destroy everyone elses Antminer on the planet at their discretion
Any Antminer that is not behind a 'disallow by default' firewall (which is very uncommon for home miners). Re: SegWit dying off in spite of all your effortsHunh? I was always a BU shill.
FTFY. I have also consistently (for about a year) pointing out that non-mining entities (which I had formerly been mistakenly been calling 'non-mining nodes') have essentially zero power to influence the network, and provide essentially zero value to the network at large. I have, though, stated that such non-mining entities are what allow their owners/users to transact in a trustless manner. Benefit to the owner, no benefit to the network.
Which is complete nonsense. But what I have recently learned is that Satoshi's definition of 'node' is necessarily limited to entities that mine.
No. So you know better than Satoshi?
The whole "satoshi" thing builds upon the assumption that miners are honest. We know today that this is not true (ASICBOOST, AntBleed, empty blocks, et. al.). Due to this, everything that you've quoted is nullified. The primary thing protecting the network from mining cartel abuse are the non-mining nodes. Do not get me started on Satoshi's failure to predict ASICs, and his 1 CPU = 1 vote does not mean 1 ASIC Miner = 1 vote. Otherwise you're basically saying that 1 Bitmain = Bitcoin (assuming they stopped shipping devices for a while and using all of them). what is UASF or a POW change is coming, whether you like it or not.
yep mandatory changes, nuking pools, dis-communicating with the natives, does very much sound like government agency talk. User-activated-soft-fork. Do you even Bitcoin? (Those are only a few choice selections.)

My first impression (even after glancing at those linked news releases) is that seems to be like a win for that fucktwat scammer Craig Wright. If Wright even received £1 as nominal damages, then that ruling seems to have also precluded McCormack from collecting legal fees (and/or punitive damages from Wright) in regards to either Wright's frivolous lawsuit or the fact that the Wright twat had submitted false evidence to the court in support of such frivolous claim. It could have been worse, but still something does not seem proper/fair/just about the ruling.

A great Watch. Agreed. The 'Reacher' series is pretty good too. Nice to see some high quality stuff out there that has testosterone again and not saddled with political agenda. True that, every fucking thing nowadays is some little girl beating up on guys twice their size and making horrible decisions and still coming out on top.

Re whether April 2021 or Nov 2021 was the 'real' top, opinions differ. In price, it is Nov, of course. In everything else: momentum, various on-chain metrics, etc, April looks like a better fit. As bears in bitcoin usually last at least 12-14 mo, therefore, IF June's ~$17.6K would be an ultimate bottom, then, indeed, it would help to think about bear market lasting since last April. On the other hand, if the bottom (lower than $17.6K) would occur between now and next January-February, then it would seem that Nov 2021 was the "true" top. I know that it sounds wishy-washy, but in fact, it is more like a truly undetermined state....our future measurement (of the bottom) would determine the "true top" call.
