Nutildah's stance is to stop those members from getting merits in this thread who aren't putting much effort in creating good posts, and they are just posting meme images created by someone else only to gain some merits from the members of this thread who are much generous by nature.

Have you seen the absolute trash posts and then you see like some el dude or some other old grumpy dude meriting that post? Not that i care about those at all but i care that they do not want Newbies to get Merits. They childish i can you cant mentality is really stupid and is ruining WO since the start of their presence. Have you paid attention to the posts of "Legendaries" ?

I know, i should not quote trolls, but to clear that up for SamReomo (and Merit-poor noobs in general)...  Roll Eyes

So, i was a newbie here too, not too long ago, a while after the 2017 blowoff top.
I can only say that the quality of postings, as well as how you are percieved by other people on this thread while chatting, supporting each other and having fun, will "earn" you Merits, as well as making you give up to a half of them back to the community.
The best of all: I never really had earning Merits on my mind, it just happened as i went on posting various stuff and opinions, sometimes only for entertainment, sometimes more serious on serious matters.

So, eXPHorizon's lie is now debunked.

As
usual

EDIT: WARNING  Shocked
I have collected quite some hours of deep sky data within the last few weeks.
After experiencing some difficulties with equipment and processing, i began to finish them images today.
Might spam this thread with some new astronomy pics, sooner or later  Wink

I strongly agree with you! The members of this thread are very generous and someone who posts with pure heart only to convey his/her message on this thread is appreciated with merits. The main thing to keep in your mind is to make posts here only for the sake of distribution of information or to get others opinion. The community of this thread has been generous and everyone knows that thing, but I also believe that the ones who received merits from here or somewhere else gave them back to the community.

I won't say that getting merits is a bad thing if you deserve those but begging for merits is what I truly dislike. If someone like your words and they're truly convinced that you're putting much effort to share knowledge and your opinion with pure heart then most probably they believe that your posts deserve to get some merits and that's what the members of this community are sharing for a long time. I don't think that senior members of the forum are naive enough to send merits to undeserving posts and if anyone else thinks like that then they must have to introspect themselves first.

I would eagerly wait to see your deep sky images because I'm also among the lovers of astronomy and pics like that are really enjoyable. I don't own a telescope myself, but yeah it's still fun to view the work of others who enjoy spending time to it and collect data about stars and sky. Astronomy is really really enjoyable without any doubt, and the more we know about it the more curious we become.

Seems like $26,000 is the new steady-state price... For how long? "Please, Bitcoin, do something!" etc., etc.

It always locks on round numbers. Must be human psychology. Would be interesting to see the price lock at $26,450 for a change. Or, even better, lock at $264,500.

(Most) folks just tend to be drawn to simplicity.
I confess, me too. "Buy and hodl" is my favourite  Cheesy

Back in the early days, I used to set limit prices based on the digits of Pi or other math constant. Like $314.159. It was fun to spot the transaction as it went through in the order book. Now I just do round numbers like the rest of us.

PS: This could even be an OPSEC issue I guess (but I bet there are many more OCD types out there)...

Yep, all my buy prices end in XXXXX.88

If you see those on the buy books, you know it is me! Smiley

Fun fact, nutildah gave me my very first merit ever, which ultimately brought me to the WO. #such.joy

Disable merits,
nutildah claimed with deceit,
oh the irony.

#late.haiku

Merit cycling guy mad other people are getting merits. Oh the horror! Soon people will have merits that made comments about the price of Bitcoin instead of circle jerking other merit sources. What ever will the community do? How will we recover? The damage those merits will do will outlast Bitcoin itself! Take cover!

While I am not against anyone making money with signature campaigns (there seem to be enough campaigns to go around for everyone), do you not see that merits serve as nothing but spam fuel nowadays? And many campaign managers seem to either not care as long as they get paid or they are not able to do anything against it. Perhaps you actually enjoy scrolling through a sea of stolen Twitter memes and automated, generic AI-prewritten garbage? I am developing a short-attention-span from all the merit parasites and their empty white noise posts.

The fact that the most annoying, spammy, most-often-blocked characters seem to agree with your thinking should tell you something.

Look I have been here a long time the forum is more of a place to sell your signature then anything else.

At times I did edit:  think this was terrible, but bitcointalk is one of the few if only places to make some coin selling your signature. So I am not looking for the merit system to die or the signature space to die anymore.

I would like a way to reduce clutter on the site and if i recall correctly the ignore button does the trick.
