I had thought that previously, I had heard reference to the "Carrington event" but it was not exactly top of mind, so your description caused me to ask myself (and google too), whether the Carrigan event was a kind of electromagnetic pulse (EMP), and I found
an article that referred to the Carrington event as an extended EMP... which was enough for me to consider that having such an event may well have more negative than positive consequences, at least in the short-to-medium term for many folks... the very short term (oh how beautiful), the longer short term... Oh shit none of my electronics seems to work.
