True. I didn't point out the fact that "italian" roasts are based off mainly brazilian, african and asian raw, sundried coffee beans. There is no such thing as "italian coffee", because it is typically not grown in Italy (though yes, in very minor quantities in the south), but the roast is what makes that special blend off the import beans.
Correct. Italian coffee has to do the way of preparing and consuming it: Moka at home, and espresso outside. There are then hundreds of variations, even abomination like “American coffee” now that we have Starbucks in Italy as well. And that seems so strange to me. I don't know what it is (EDIT: what made Starbucks so successful), but from all Starbucks i went to in the US and Europe, i was never excited by the taste of it. Even at my mothers house, she's a Nespresso user, i choose almost every unfavored coffee over Starbucks', but only if there are no more Illy capsules left. I also tell her constantly: If you want me to visit you, make sure you have the caps by Illy at home. You are a good taster The Illy blend is one of my favourites, it has that flavour that is a bit reminiscent of chocolate and caramel, I like it a lot. But if you want to replicate the taste of Italian espresso coffee at home as well, don't use a ready-made capsule coffee machine, but rather use an espresso machine with a filter holder, similar to the ones you can see in Italian coffee bars, buy the coffee powder strictly 'Borbone blu' and you will enjoy a 10-star Italian espresso coffee Sorry for the OT, but I really liked the discussion you guys started

I'm with vapourminer on this one.
I will drink whatever I want, whenever I want it. I won't let symbols and semantics dictate when to satisfy my taste buds.
It's just a culture clash. For italians, espressi and cappucini are like a part of their identity. And they do make the best of coffee, imho, for a reason. It's not just enjoying taste, it's more like a tradition, with pros and cons that allow that friction regarding this "simple" topic. Just my 2 cents. Tbh… really like Italian coffee’s but recently spending a month in Vietnam….. they have some amazing coffee’s Didn’t expected it, but they where amazing beyond believe Water quality is also very important to flavor of coffee. USA water sucks. Fluoride and other chemicals are often added. I use a whole house water filter I then use a reverse osmosis water filter. I have a Russian friend in Brooklyn he has been roast beans for years some time s he makes a very nice one. As for Keruic I would send each and every one to the fucking moon. Worst coffee idea ever. I am going to filter water for a pot of coffee as soon as I send this. I use a percolator to make 1 liter which I then run through a filter into a thermos. As hot plates kill coffee. Also black only no milk no sugar no creamers. Have it with a cannoli if you want cream and sugar. Don't spoil the taste of black coffee

A couple weeks ago a former colleague of mine who had previously introduced me to the moka pot for brewing coffee sent me am image of a new coffee beverage he had discovered and instructions on how to make it. Basically an egg yolk and one or two teaspoons of sugar whipped into a foam then pour your espresso (or moka) into it. I have no idea what it's called but it's delicious. I just got a few duck eggs from a friend the other day so I might just try it with one of those and make a double

I got the best results from cold brewed concentrates, my goto summer coffee method. It's a different level, not comparable to bitter steam or hot water brews. But you need to have very good water and also good coffee, which needs to be ground at the most rough grain your coffee grinder offers. I tried it once with ground filter coffee (Illy, though) off the can (they are sold in 250g cans), and i had to pour it away because the bad taste cut even through high amounts of milk.

Largely about walking through the office with a paper cup that advertises you can afford overpriced coffees. I decided I wanted coffee-shop level cappuccinos so bought a superauto (technically a birthday/christmas present). Well worth it and paid for itself over pods within 18 months.

wow, amazing. Students in 🇸🇻 El Salvador learning the in’s and out’s of Bitcoin transactions - fees, output, input, scriptsig, hash, tx id and more 🙌 https://x.com/BitcoinNewsCom/status/1915753881910366380?t=19I truly believe that a time will come when every country or every household, like El Salvador, will educate their boys and girls about Bitcoin transactions and the actual use of Bitcoin. for a country and a society to develop, the quality of life of the people of the country must first be improved, otherwise it will never be possible to develop or change a country or a society. we need to gain knowledge in accordance with the digital and technological era and improve our quality of life through digital investment. we all need to gain sufficient knowledge about the use and investment of Bitcoin and buy Bitcoin with a long-term plan and patiently save it for the future. It is time for us to walk together for the development of society and the country. Let us all collect and save Bitcoin because this is the key to the economic liberation of the future.

Starbucks? Yuck. All they sell is over-roasted garbage beans. They don't sell light or medium-roasted gourmet coffees. Over-roasting destroys most of the subtle flavors of fine coffee so you can't tell what the original beans were. A good blend of high- and low-acid coffees usually makes the best blend. This is why one of the oldest international blends, Mocha-Java, is still such a favorite. A high quality single-source coffee like Jamaican Blue Mountain can be outstanding but the price can be prohibitive. I had the pleasure a half century ago of spending a couple of nights at Whitfield Hall, the last coffee plantation on the trail up to Blue Mountain Peak. They hand roasted a kilo of beans to medium-dark and ground and brewed them for us while they were still hot from the roasting pan. Ecstasy, despite the beans not being aged. Good water is imperative. There's also nothing wrong with including a few over-roasted beans before you grind if you like that almost burned dark-roast flavor but make most of the beans full city roast or lighter to retain some flavor. That second crack is a flavor killer. Preparation is important too, but there are many valid methods. Cowboy coffee can be just as good or even better than well-made espresso or french press coffee. Paper filters or cheap home espresso makers just don't cut it. Just avoid overheating the water.
