@BitHodlers  - You'll see some reasonably logical posts along with some far-out bizarre idiotic posts by many of the OGs here. It's truly amazing what some of these OGs post that makes no sense at all. Sometimes I wonder if a lot of these OGs aren't battling serious mental issues...

Good grief.

I'm supposed to be in hibernation yet I keep coming back here and reading shit like this.

Finally some good posts, much better than those OGs that are angry about the price movement but are too coward to admit it. This feels better.  Wink

Damn right! Let it sink in!

Any educated, logical, fair-minded human being that reads some of the pathetic fucked up shit here thinks many of the OGs that post regularly are total idiots with serious mental problems.

Mentally sound people don't treat others like many of the regulars here have a habit of doing. And, I think you know this!!!

I’m not so keen on that fancy book learning and logic tends to escape me so I haven’t noticed the mental health emergency in this thread. While I don’t believe I have ever claimed to be a Bitcoin “OG” I have also never claimed to be mentally sound. In fact, I would point to the % of my net worth currently invested in Bitcoin as evidence to the contrary.

At least I know I am in good company.

Hello everyone, I’m back!

Hey VB! Glad to see you back after so many years!

Not one the best of the days for Bitcoin but... those are also (very) necessary in the long road.

It may be, but still, it's better to be in than out. Cry

Hello everyone, I’m back!
After a long, involuntary pause it simply wasn’t emotionally viable to stay on the forum following the unforeseen economic event that forced me to liquidate everything a few years ago. Little by little, I’m getting back on my feet financially, with fewer resources and a zero balance in BTC, but I hope that with small purchases and just HODL, I’ll be able to recover something even a tiny portion of BTC.

I’m absolutely thrilled for all of you, seeing that the price levels we talked about years ago have finally been reached… and surpassed!
(And yes, I confess — with healthy envy — for missing the 100k party… but genuinely happy for you all!)

I still firmly believe in BTC, of course, and time has proven that we were not wrong. A big hug to everyone still here!
I’ll try to update the List of Exchanges since 2011 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5090869.0

Today I started buying a bit of BTC again — this is my first purchase. I have a long way to go to get back to where I was.

#StrongHats

Welcome back.

Do what you can in terms of buys, and try to buy weekly for at least 4 years without even thinking about the price, and then reassess where you are at after 4 years to figure out if you might need to make any significant tweaks to what you are doing or just that you continue to stay with weekly buys.

it can take a couple of cycles or more to really build up a reasonably-sized bitcoin stack and also to be able to hang onto such stack by making sure that we are otherwise not going to have to sell any of our coins at a time that is not of our own choosing, which means we need to build and practice strong cashflow management systems/practices that include back up funds.

I suppose a long-term weekly plan is the only way to do it in my current situation.

So you realize you are coming off as a dick?

@cAPSLOCK - Maybe so, maybe not - but it's honestly spoken...

So, in my opinion, just because something is assumed to be true and someone is honest, does not mean that one shouldn't speak with kindness.

Just a moment ago, you were suggesting that some of us here have mental illness. Well, I can tell you something.  What you're doing there is called binary thinking (it's okay to be a dick if I'm right), and it's a hallmark of many mental illnesses, actually.  But I'm not assuming that you have any mental illness. I just am assuming that you're itchy for some reason around the people here. Maybe because they were fortunate enough to get in much earlier than you.  And you're justifying poking at them over and over again because you think you're right.  Again, probably not mental illness, just probably a lack of thinking very deeply.

I've not been around this thread as long as some of the people here.

But I have been around long enough to know many of the regulars here fairly well, actually. And I'm a very sensitive person. And I would vouch for the mental health of almost everyone here that is a regular.

Also, some of the people here that you are lambasting the most have been, in my view, some of the most accurate predictors of the direction of the market and have built themselves swimming pools for their family and things like that because of knowing when might be a good time to trade.

I've never really been much of a trader honestly, so I just pretty much hold what I have.

I think most people here have moments in their lives where they have felt stress.  I watched a lot of people that I've come to love live through Bitcoin's rise to $20,000 and then a spectacular crash. And people who had just begun to realize life-changing money, then watched it evaporate in what seemed like moments.

That leaves scars on people and they don't want that to happen again. And since the time that I've been watching Bitcoin, (2011) the 210,000 block cycle theory has held pretty true.  (though each cycle has been getting less volatile)

So, people here who have gotten quite good at being sensitive to when there are tops and bottoms are now saying that this could have been the top in a very bad bull market. And for some reason, you want to pick nits with them.  There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with them. In fact, that's why we're here, is to talk this kind of thing out about the price, about the amount of people on this side and that side buying and selling.

But you can do this without calling people crazy or looking down your nose at them for some reason that I have not been able to figure out yet honestly.

Actually, I disagree with the position that this bull run is over, although I'm kind of a permabull, and I'm wrong about as often as I am right because of it.  I do not think we will see a gigantic pullback like we have in prior cycles. But I strive not to be a black and white thinker. I do think we may see a pullback. The adjective is important.  In fact, I think we will see more and more pullbacks.

Finally, as to mental health, I happen to know a lot about it. I am, unfortunately, quite versed in what it means to have challenges in that area. So I might be a little sensitive when I see people start making baseless prejudiced statements about good people that I respect.

Bull back on?

I believe the term is dead cat bounce. I wouldn’t feel good about buying here. I think we probably see Bitcoin recover back to near $108K and then the next leg down. Would love to see another high this cycle, but I don’t think it is going to happen. Unless Trump can remove Capital Gains or manage a big Strategic Reserve buy, the next year is going to be a rough one. Hopefully his speech today has some Bitcoin mentions in it.

I've read that some company got scared and sold some 1k BTC.
Let's see what happens next. Imho the current cycle is still in the bull phase.

I was actually just about to post something similar. This could still be just a relief rally after yesterday's tumble.

I want to point out something that I think is spectacularly bullish and important.

It seems to have become clear that when you look at the outflows from the institutional holders and then you look at the outflows from coins that haven't moved in a long time, it is the latter where the selling is coming from.

This means that we are seeing price discovery, consolidation, and a more granular distribution of coins.  This is super healthy for Bitcoin, in my opinion. Particularly, if a significant portion of those coins are going into the cold storage of holders.

This event has a limited shelf life. Now it may repeat, in fact I expect it will, but just like the Bitcoin cycles of lower, each repetition will be softer than the last.

All that to say, I believe what we've seen in downward pressure on the price may be something that we can see correct in the short to medium term, rather than having to wait a long time.

Now, if I wanted to counterbalance that general blissness with something from the other side, I am still concerned and was from the first day the ETFs were approved. That consolidation into institutional hands is going to lead to rehypothication one way or another. In fact, as commercial banks begin to hold Bitcoin, just in the diversity of institutional holders, we will definitely see shenanigans.

So true. Also, thanks for your support. This thread is the result of real people actually enjoying being together, well, most of them.
We all share our humor, fate, wisdom, knowledge and curiosities in here. It's the best place i've been to, so far. And it looks like that wouldn't change.
People usually earn respect. This special guy here came in demanding respect. This sentiment speaks a very clear language and this thread is only a playground for his abusiveness. He's not here to learn, because he knows better already.
I was quite triggered, too, but in the end his words are meaningless in here. Just another Roach, EXPhorizon, Cryptonians (or what was his/their nickname?)...
He won't mess up this place, nobody ever could do this. It's the spirit in here, the thread itself is more of a legend than anyone of us, but equal the sum of all of us.
Who would ever be able to fuck it up?

EDIT:
Hey, by the way, i don't have mental problems, i am a mental problem  Grin
