That said, I agree with the sentiment that IF life can be extended 30-40 years (or more) and all you need is to pay for it, then people would use almost all of their wealth to do it.

Who wants to pay an additional 40 years in property taxes to extend their lives by 40 years?

You’ll go through all of your savings, then have to live to see another century of politicians ruining society.

Sounds more like a punishment than a benefit.

If I could live 69 more years to 138 and my wife could be there with me.

It would be hot. Now obviously I AM  making the assumption that I get no less healthly

than I am now. And that my wife's health is also good.

When I was a kid I used to play catcher in baseball. I had an expensive catchers mitt.

I would work it until it was a wonderful fit supple nice well oiled.

My wife and I work at pitching and catching we would have more time to practice and

get better at the game. So 69+69 =138 is worth a lot for me.

Hard to argue with that logic. Staying healthy and keeping good company for another 69 years easily beats worrying about tax assessors and politicians.

I think the Clarity Act has less influence on Bitcoin's price than people want to believe.  I even think there's a case to be made that the Clarity Act is bad for Bitcoin, but what do I know...  I think it is a lose-lose situation.  If it passes, it is a sell the news event and if it fails it is a catastrophic slap to the face of crypto and likely will cause widespread selling.  So $50K or $70K is probably better targets for if it passes or not.

One thing that actually does matter to Bitcoin and has potential to send the price skyrocketing upward is the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, which may be taking another step forward this week as it gets a committee markup from the Financial Services Committee on Wednesday morning.  Bitcoiners are watching the wrong regulatory development right now for some reason...  Ethereum and Solana are the big winners in the Clarity Act...

It is evident that investors always latch onto whatever is most hyped in the media; aside from Clarity Act, there is practically nothing else that could fuel a bull run - even if it has little to do with Bitcoin. As far as SBR is concerned, that also seems to me to be a hollow story considering that the US adds new BTC to its reserve exclusively through confiscations, so why buy if you can get it for free?

Yes alts are likely to profit from Clarity Act, but their current price does not suggest that anyone is betting on such an outcome.

Confiscation only works until the easily seized coins run out. If governments actually want a strategic reserve that matters, eventually they’ll have to compete in the open market just like everyone else.

The US government has not invested a single cent in Bitcoin or altcoins, yet today it holds nearly 330 000 BTC. Considering that they have full control over some of the largest CEXs operating in the US territory, and that they have enormous resources through various agencies, it is not at all a question of whether the current number will only increase, but at what speed it will happen.

Considering that all the BTC they don't own are more or less tainted, they just have to choose the next victim who will be left without their coins. Maybe one day things will be the way you describe, but that day is still a long way off.

Seizing coins from darknet markets and exchange hacks might build a stash, but relying on criminal busts isnt a sovereign reserve strategy.

The moment another nation-state actually starts buying directly on the open market, playing legal pirate wont cover the scale.

We are talking about the US here, with a president who has turned politics into a business for himself and a small circle of people. If you were to ask Mr. T what he thinks about that, what do you think he would say on the subject?

Do you think that any other nation can in any way reach the US in terms of the amount of BTC? I don't see a single one, except perhaps China - but they don't exactly like Bitcoin (at least not officially).

Mr. T loves big numbers, but a static stash of seized coins doesnt push the ticker up. If China or anyone else even whispers about adding open market spot buying to their budget, the strategy shifts real quick.

I don't even know if it's happened yet, but I do think Wash has been signaling that he is going to raise rates, which will be incredible if he does that.

In his talking Jackson Hole, he kept talking about someone going on a hike. I don't think he was just nonchalantly doing that non sequitur.

But Doom(sic) lurks behind every door and raising rates into $6 a gallon diesel economy is, well, going to be like throwing fuel on a fire.

There is that famous Chinese curse: may you live in interesting times.

Bitcoin seems to be a bit resistant to the "double whammy" pundit calls (WO and non-WO).

That resistance is what I expected as well and Mr. Market largely agrees, at least so far.
