man for a super secret random number that secret number sure gets around
i wonder which implementation they used?
Yes, they explained.... it was human error... a test ceremony at 2025... that lasted 18 months until be uncovered.. ... hehehe... > Root Cause: Was eMudhra hacked? No, it was a Key Ceremony Mistake, Not a Breach
According to eMudhra’s preliminary root cause, the April 2025 ceremony included an approved deviation to test key wrap and unwrap for export. A flaw in that script created a second, weak key pair on the HSM alongside each strong one. Because the two sets had similar labels, the weak keys were used to build the certificate signing requests (CSRs). eMudhra’s root then signed those CSRs, and they were sent to Sectigo for cross-signing. In eMudhra’s own words, “There were human errors in multiple steps of the process.” This is why it is important to have multiple people looking over the key ceremonies and actually ensuring that the right steps are followed. Additionlly you should never be testing in production.
eMudhra originally claimed the keys were generated on Utimaco HSMs certified to FIPS 140-2 Level 3, and that the hardware doesn’t appear to be at fault. After further review, eMudhra says it confirmed that the weak keys were generated outside the HSM.
Edit: After further investigation, eMudhra confirmed that the weak keys were generated by the script Outside the HSM and Utimaco has confirmed that all the keys generated within the HSM are secure and meet the randomness requirements.

Just want to mention that the same thing has been happening to me in recent months. I get notifications that the transfers cannot go through SEPA instant, but will go through SEPA standard. However, the funds still reach the destination the same day -- same speed as the instant transfers, as far as I can tell. I don't know why this happens (they never gave a reason). It could be a wider issue, affecting many banks and/or exchanges.

NotOverTober Yet still we got a bit of a squeaker here. As far as I can see it, October opened at $83,555.... so sure, being able to get above that number might not be easy.. to the extent that it really matters very much (beyond symbolism). Not yet Uptober
I m waiting for Yesvember. Hopefully Ninevember. Not blue balls? So disappointing. 8 days and 70 or 90 k
You mean actually reaching $70k? Seems a bit much, even if there could be some surprise shakening attempts and yeah, of course, October surprise is supposed to relate to 11/3 election... yet at the same time, don't October surprises come earlier in October, since a decent number of folks vote early. Of course, you may well be referring to the actual election potentially creating some bitcoin price "break out." Sure. I suppose, some break out could end up happening in either direction in the next 7-ish days. Yeah if maga holds the wood and the senate is 51-49 plus they win the house say 219-216 btc will spike hard over 90k. If the dems rout maga it could mean riots and martial law fighting the fixed dem win. Maga now has real proof of a state allowing 400 plus voters illegally vote. Thanks to my state. NJ What's 400 votes Baby bush won the presidency in 2000 by 520 votes. So I could see or we could see the wildest shit in our lifetimes if the dems kick ass. Well now is a good time to come to Canada and claim asylum. When you get to the border of Ontario, tell them you're trying to escape American liquor - they'll usher you right in and give you a free winter coat. NB Be prepared for the elevated floor-pricing, a lack of selection and the sticker shock. (there are never and bargains like in the USA)

It could be a wider issue, affecting many banks and/or exchanges. My last SEPA (non-instant) transfers were issued on monday, released on tuesday and were showing up a few hours later in the afternoon on the exchange. SEPA-instant worked a charm, even on sundays. I liked them, because when i forgot to transfer on weekdays, there was a second chance on weekends. We'll see if the SEPA transfer gets processed tomorrow in the early banking hours.

A long "whining" post, sorry:
Maybe we did not realize something about bitcoin as it shows quite slow performance since Feb 2021. Yes, I am aware of the cycles, but from 60K to 80K is about 33.3% in roughly 56 mo or about 7.14% yearly, which is sub-par. Perhaps, it is basing, just like gold did, but then it could continue in this fashion for another 6-9 years. I am just disappointed, that's all, not planning any sudden selling.
For those who believe in cycles, yes, Feb 2021 was more advanced in the "cycle" than now, but, still, 6 years should have shown the "trend".
I am already >12 years in btc and cannot wait another 8-18 to get to a 20-30 year hodl. Sand is running down the hourglass...albeit I am trying to invest in some "longevity" companies. We shall see.
OT My 1997 AAPL investment would have been great by now, lol, sold in late 2000 after the first 10X. Did not "sit' on it long enough, clearly. I also mostly did not participate in the private markets, which was a mistake in the last few years, but now there are too many companies in the private markets with already gigantic valuations, hence, there is a problem of choice. Some private companies were the big winners, but so was NVDA, MU or SNDK. Not sure why I didn't buy any of those.
Overall, I am thinking of curtailing my stock "tries" and dropping everything in a couple of big indexes (like VOO or VTI) plus cash/money market.
Phil posted about FIBT (95% stocks, 5% bitcoin), which might be a little low side as far as btc is concerned.
