@ yslyung - I support forum members and the more competition the better for everyone as that will push more innovations and better products.  Nice work with the DIY SRR.  Yes, what we're paying for is the software plus OS integration / agents not the hardware as that's easy to get.  How much are you selling your manual SRR?  P.M me with more info on it.  I wouldn't mind trying it and compare vs SRR.  What server PSU and breakout board are you using in that setup of yours.  Just realized now that it aint a Pico PSU.

@ megaplage / induktor - Have you guys try changing SWAP to 24000 vs the min of 16000 that Claymore recommend?  I find it helps makes the 1070 more stable.  It was a pain in the @$$ back when I got it and it was new and required special drivers, certain windows patches, etc.  H81 BTC pro only have 6 PCI Slot, so how did you test 7 GPU config on it Induktor?  I don't think the pci splitter will work well with all cards types, I have 1 and didn't use it for that reason on the H81.

@ m1n1ngP4d4w4n - MSI Gaming 5 works for 7 AMD cards no issues.  I have 7 x 470, 7x480 running on them.  No issues and on over 35 rigs.  I only use ASROCK H81 because I had them from legacy 390 rigs and bought more for the 6 x Fury rigs as they're FATTER so I can only fit 6 vs 7 into my server cases.  I would not recommend buying used ones as I have over 40 of these Motherboards and the ones that have flakey slots or randomly dropping slots were the used ones.  Perhaps that's why they sold them.  That was definitely extremely frustrating.

@ Citronik - Can you check the Bios to see if it have the setting for PCIe speed and choose 8/4/4 and Gen 1 or Gen 2 to see if it makes any difference .  I really like this board but I have no interest in doing 15 x 4 GPU rigs.  Maybe 3 of those in worst case scenario and 1 or 2 Wall designer style rigs.

P.S For all - I screw up and didn't make myself Self moderator for this Thread.   I'm also to lazy to redo it all again as Mod can't change this priviledge after a thread is created.  Please do me a favor and reference names vs quoting too many large pictures to reduce length of each page.  I value every comment and post but I also want to keep it quick for new people to follow / catch up on.  For things that people have quoted me, I will delete mine to avoid redundancy and better flow.  Thanks all.

Biostar has a good deal at newegg 35 per board.  should do 4 cards not sure.

2 full slots  2   1x16 slots  69.99 before code   022BW44   then 34.99 after code.

Looking at the Biostar Z170 manual closer, I saw this below...
I think the board was not designed to have 7 active slots, since the 1xPCI shares with the 16xPCI.

•   4 x PCI-E x16 3.0 Slot(x16, x8, x4- from SB, x4- from SB)
•   3 x PCI-E x1 3.0 Slot(2 slot share PCIE port w/ PCI-Ex16@x4)

So up to 5 x GPU may be possible.

I could be wrong.... sorry man; I know you had great expectations.

If only the next generation Asrock H81 Pro BTC has a 7 or 8 slotter  Undecided

But hang on.... Asrock does have their own Z170 mobo - maybe worth looking into that.

I think Phil has looked into this Asrock Z170.

This AM4 board looks like it can do 7 cards ($90) Link: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157761&cm_re=am4-_-13-157-761-_-Product
6 slots + a M2 to Pci E card. The mobo should hold its value pretty well, may be worth looking at once we have some cheap dual core AM4 cpu.

Anyone willing to give this a test?  Cheesy

How would you run the 4th card on the $34 BioStar Board ? PCIe Splitter ?

Has anyone used this board - ASUS Strix B250F for 6 / 7 cards ?

Yup, as i said im doubtful that's the whole explanation or even part of it regarding the nvidias 1070, im betting they just use more resource to work than AMD top of the line cards (pci lanes or such) and so make it unable to be working than 6x per mobo, im also suspecting that 6x may even be too much, im scheduled to do testing for 5x1070 card rigs to see if i can push them better & higher. Hope to find some times this week-end to begin tinkering this.

@yun9999 sent u a long PM hahaha ...

btw, here's 1 of my latest revision with the add-on option of Mining Control Center (MCC) there's another version that can control up to 8 boards 2 pages back, this version i call it the mini version that can power on/off your rigs remotely anytime, anywhere as long as there's an internet connection.

* i can't continue to build the rig, it's almost 4am here. more pics to come soon.

speaking of mobo's, so far for a 6 GPU rig best is to use BioStar TB85, they cheap & good.

btw, they have a new version that supports LGA 1151 dubbed TB250-BTC

The TB85 looks very familiar to the Asrock H81 Pro BTC. Good catch this yslyung.

The TB250 is latest crypto centric mobo and looks like some enhancements on CPU mining too.

4
rebooted and i found it killed my windows install reinstalling now but i have a bad feeling
about this one

In the Biostar manual, found this:

•   4 x PCI-E x16 3.0 Slot(x16, x8, x4- from SB, x4- from SB)
•   3 x PCI-E x1 3.0 Slot(2 slot share PCIE port w/ PCI-Ex16@x4)

Looks like there is some port sharing -- so 7 active slots is probably not doable for this mobo.

I have 6 rigs with this Biostar Racing GT7 ; 4 x GPUs -- no risers. Very stable but for 6 or 7 card format -- I rather go back to using H81 boards or that Biostar equivalent/clone. Anything beyond 7 x GPUs will be too complicated and you better off just getting a Pandaminer (8 x 480Ms)

pandaminer is a rip off for experinced miners  i could build almost two six
gpu rigs for 2400 , i just want 5 gpu out of this board 4
is too low

@ megaplage / induktor - Have you guys try changing SWAP to 24000 vs the min of 16000 that Claymore recommend?  I find it helps makes the 1070 more stable.  It was a pain in the @$$ back when I got it and it was new and required special drivers, certain windows patches, etc.  H81 BTC pro only have 6 PCI Slot, so how did you test 7 GPU config on it Induktor?  I don't think the pci splitter will work well with all cards types, I have 1 and didn't use it for that reason on the H81.

You are right my bad, it wasn't the H81 pro btc, it was an MSI big ass mobo, armor or something like that?, i don't remember well, i sold it a while ago, now I use all AM1 and FM2 APUs, and not more than 5 GPUs, less headache, more stability, cheaper materials to build.
increase density sounds good on paper, but it is expensive, and unnecessary, 2 x AM1 motherboard setups will power 3 GPUs and use the same amount of power than one FM2 or the H81 pro btc mobo setups using 5/6 gpus, so... makes no sense to me, i did had a lot of 6 GPU miners, but i got tired to deal with them and now all my miners are between 3 and 5 gpus a pop.

i never found those PCI splitter, where did you get those?, i will love the test them Smiley
