Hi,
i have found a wallet with 40 BTC.
The last transaction was 2011.
Can i take the money?
Or is it not legal?
Please Help!

Best Regards!
If you're not a troll you can take the money because you found it and didn't do anything illegal to achieve it.
I personally would take all  the money and live a happy life.  Grin

If OP has private keys as what he said, then he is lucky Smiley But for privates keys / wallet posted on the forum without someone noticing it? Well he is very lucky again, Smiley time to transfer it to your personal wallet and have fun.

If you have the Privkey to a bitcoin address then the basic principle is that you own the Bitcoin.  If i found it i would put it somewhere safe and would prob return it to the owner when contacted.

If thats the case then you really have a good heart since you are still willing to give it back to the owner but the real problem is that how will you locate him since we all know that its hard to trace him up and for sure many scammer will do their best just to say that they own those bitcoins.

Sending a message would be a lot harder for he'd be anonymous unless the owner send another coins with a message along it. I doubt people read those messages along with the coins being received.
A person who somehow got about 40k+ USD would likely buy a samurai longer than 2 feet to protect himself and the money. Would salute if someone really return the money but for now, OP's story isn't something to believe.

May we know exactly how he found the wallet and the private key? Let us see if its really possible.

I think you are really lucky, do you know how many money it is? This is incredible. But if it's a private key that is I think the case so you should do the right thing by find the owner of this key. But If you can't just keep the money.

It was a private key, i found it in a forum.
A private key forgotten 6 years on a public forum and nobody took it?

He didn't say it was a public forum. Probably he meant the super-secret LBC illuminati forum, where we post all the private keys we have found so far. If he'll take any of these Bitcoins - he's a dead man of course.  Cheesy

How can you get that wallet with 40 BTC?
I think you the owner is not silly enough to make his wallet easy to access since there is a lot of bitcoin in his wallet
I'm not telling that i don't believe in you but this thread will be legit if you post any screen shot or proofs that you got a wallet with 40 btc.

To be honest, no matter how I tried it, I really find hard time believing this scenario. If the private key has been in public for more than 6 years already, it should have been taken by someone else few years ago or so. It is just not believable, I am sorry.

I don't really know what to believe, now you can have some fun with 40 btc, maybe share a little with some friends or with the community, if you are a good person!

i think if he can give the proof that he own the wallet with 40 btc, maybe we can believe and we can helped him to transfer the amount into other wallet. but if he only tells us that he own the wallet, then its hard to believe it because i don't think that the wallet is really have 40 btc inside and if its true, then he is the one of the richest man for now.

Nice track you have there mate and seeing on that it seems this claim is just purely a troll because op seems like need of money and selling his own casino account with 12.5 btc? why he would sell that account if he could able to withdraw it?

I am unable to purchase Bitcoin myself and am limited to mining altcoins for it. How much I'd like to even have just one BTC from this forum full of private keys right now so I can be in the 1 BTC club 20 years from now

I don't believe multiple keys would just be on a single forum page but if they really are a bunch of bitcoin wallets from people who bought them for under a dollar for shits and giggles (like 17k BTC for a pizza) than I am very sure the owners completely forgot about them.

I think if you already have access to get into your wallet or have a private key for the wallet. I think you've become a chooser legitimate. after all, there are no laws and regulations in bitcoin
