for sure it is beneficial to just hold bitcoin on our wallet for all we knew the price of the said coin is outrageously increasing though sometimes it drop when certain issues comes.but it was always recovered and come to more high price from what he has been before the drops

Well if they have saved their wallet content from December 2016 till early December 2017, then it was worth it. But better to use it to invest in prospective coins too.
