We'll release the binaries of the new version tomorrow!
Upgrade is mandatory!

On height 24000 block time will be increased to 2 minutes

Pools will upgrade soon! After block 24000 they will make payments!

So the coins that i mined before fork are gone?

Nope! Is like the bitcoin fork! Simply, at block 24000 block time increases to 2 minutes

Am I interpreting this correctly that you can't build the wallet from the source code in the github repository because it doesn't include the genesis block.
If so, why?

Delete or rename (as backup if you put there something important) folder:
/Users/yourname/.leviarcoin

For Linux: /home/user/.leviarcoin

For Windows: %APPDATA%/leviarcoin
