I will never understand why would anyone think of buying xrp. They can dilute the value any time they want, it's fully centralised. Probably the code itself isn't open source, so what's stopping them to do funny stuff ?

Code is open source, you can run your own fork if you want.

About distribution, I know they're working on crypto conditions, check xrpchat if interested.

could be worth 1000000000000000000000 zillion if they want it to be on cmc ... of course your current share of that will be worth practically nothing.

dirt coin.

How is it a "good investment" when they can regulate the price all they want by releasing more XRP?

Because there are a finite number of XRP and contrary to the belief no more can be created. Each time a wallet is created 20 XRP are locked as a reserve and for each transaction a small number of XRP are destroyed

They are a private company, and they are centralised. What would prevent them to modify the code to suit their needs regardless of what holders need, want, or think ? Is the code even public ? I doubt that.

Number is finite yes, but 2/3 was not given avay yet but it will be in upcoming years.

These 2/3 coins are not going to be dumped on the market asap. They will be locked in beneficiaries`s accounts for a certain period in order to avoid price crash.

Which means, only ripple has to gain. For "investors" it's all a gamble, dice roll.

I dont understand what gives XRP value. Could anyone explain?

Is XRP used for anything? Does anyone need it for something? When would I need to have XRP?

With the latest dump, it was kind of inevitable that the next pump is just around the corner, so many were buying it expecting a big profit margin.
Now lets see how far up it can go.

if you have a question like this you should ask it in a new topic instead of bumping an old topic which was created before the pump 22 days ago.
and for technical answer about what Ripple is and what it is offering you can read
- their website: https://ripple.com/
- there is also the announcement topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=301635.0 (I think it is this one).

and if you want my opinion it is not much different from other coins, it is created to pump and dump and that is what it has been doing so far.
I do not like that massive supply of this coin that is circulating currently in the market and I also don't like how it was distributed by releasing massive supplies.

and also this "Ripple 79.03% Up in last 24h" should be enough indication for anyone to know there is something pump and dumpy going on.

here you go : https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/international-banking-flocks-ripple-chandan-maddanna

takes 10 mins, but worth it, thank me later.

in short, all arguments made here are Rut and false, it is well known fact that there is a well funded disinformation campaign, now literally everyone knows it ( and it is firing them back). they are looking like school dropouts.

its not centralized, already institutions , colleges, offices and public are running validators, they cannot create or mine a single new coin, its pre-mined and supply is limited, infact every transaction destroys certain amount and every wallet reserves some as immovable... the supply held by company will be locked for institutional disbursement, so that "stability providing" institutions can have reserves..

welcome to 21st century finance ! come have called it banking next.

you will see lot of coin crowd ho cannot understand liquidity, market dynamics or transaction use cases, don't be disheartened... they don't get it. for the others who are either speaking rubbish or are clueless how about some study and education ? spend some time, else you come of as .... hmm

lastly, Ripple is  a registered, liable and responsible company - NOT a darkweb , basementscam, no one can encash and pull mtgox on you, neither run away.

Ripple is a good alt coin, although the fame of this coin is not really good, people more familiar with litecoin or doge coin which ranked lower than ripple, but ripple has never been reported for bad incident , it just really need popularity boost, ripple has been rank in the 3 in coinmarket for a long time, its time for ripple to show its existence

they give the value to their coin not very different than fiat currency, very centralized and have almost infinite supply, can be replenished at will, and why i recommend to stay away from ripple it's not a real coin, just an IOU, for now ripple is only used to pay their employees, hope it help

Let's be real for a change guys. Many of you live in a bullshit utopia with your crypto views. It's a miniscule bubble and even the closer to $20 billion marketcap of BTC means very little. If you think serious players are touching PoW coins you're deluded. Being blackmailed by a handful of mining pools located in china sure does sound tempting

You want to see XRP's value? Search the terms "escrow amendment ripple" & "paychan amendment ripple". If you're not a fucking idiot you'll realize XRP will work as a scalable, trusted & quick connector between RCL/ILP transactions.

You can basically wipe your ass with the rest of your "coinz"
