It does not happen before. Here is the log. How can I also disable the cgwatcher to stop popping up coins profitability.

I get that sometimes. I end up having to reboot for it to work. Wish I knew how to fix it.

dency45, the world would appreciate if you put that in code brakets please

I experienced some problem. My cgminer closes itself outside cgwatcher. Cgwatcher opening it automatically but in the 3rd time it does not open it. What is the cause of cgminer closing itself? It does not happen before. Here is the log. How can I also disable the cgwatcher to stop popping up coins profitability.

Code:

Someone ever got this problem after a few hours..

Something happens (I don't know what) Cgwatcher opens sgminer automatically and it just sits there and does nothing. Cgwatcher opens sgminer again and nothing happens...

All cmd windows stay open without doing anything

I get that sometimes. I end up having to reboot for it to work. Wish I knew how to fix it.

I checked it in the log last time it happend it was because a gpu was sick...

I havn't checked any logs yet. When it happens for me it has been mining great. I stop it to do some other things and then when I hit the start mining button it opens SGminer and sgminer just freezes up and sits there. Sometimes the driver will reset, but usually the system just ends up locking up.

CGWatcher & CGRemote

I wasn't aware of any bandwidth limit exceeded problems with the new support forum (http://www.minerremote.com/support) but I will look into this and encourage everyone to post issues there. Because it is divided up into sections, it makes it easier to find help and even for you to help others with issues that you've been able to solve.

I've been driving much of this past week but I've finally made it to Los Angeles... so I'll be catching up on support and getting back to updates as soon as I find a house or apartment. Even if it takes me a few days to respond, I can assure everyone that both CGWatcher and CGRemote projects are still very much alive, in fact more so now than ever. Big things underway. Wink

I'll try to answer everyone's questions without taking up too much space:

Timmieman:  An Ubuntu solution may be coming soon.

ymer:  I'll look into this. Every time the miner is started by CGWatcher, it resets the flag saying whether or not CGWatcher closed the miner. Then the only time the flag is turned on is when the stop button, pause button, or scheduled actions that stop mining occur. It's possible the flag is not being set when it should, which I'll have to see if I can find.

Ntrain2k:  I haven't had a chance to look at sgminer yet. If it works sometimes and sometimes not, then it's probably an sgminer issue. If it freezes every time CGWatcher tries to start sgminer, then it may be a config setting that sgminer doesn't like (perhaps a setting that was removed).

Megistal:  When using batch files, CGWatcher first watches for the batch process to launch, then watches for the miner process to launch. I believe it waits up to 15 or 30 seconds for this to happen, so if it takes longer than that it assumes there is a problem. If I understand you correctly, you have a step in between - the batch file launches an app that launches cgminer? Being a 64-bit OS using a 32-bit miner should not make a difference.

vladman:  From what I remember, this is an issue with cgminer/bfgminer. Setting clock speeds in one instance's config settings can affect an already running instance. You can try setting the clock speeds for both instances in both config settings, but I'm not sure if that will work. I guess it's possible for CGWatcher to check after launching the miner (e.g. 30 seconds after launch) and make sure the config settings match the current GPU settings. It's something that will take some time though... a lot on my plate at the moment.

ammi84:  If there's nothing in CGWatcher's log then it's difficult to say why the miner closed unexpectedly. It's not something I've run into. I would suggest enabling the monitoring option "Ensure miner stays running unless stopped by CGWatcher" and see if this helps prevent downtime.

jazzah:  Unfortunately I don't think this is a CGWatcher problem. When using batch files, CGWatcher launches the batch file and what happens next is out of its hands. Once it launches the batch file, it waits to get a response from the miner's API, which is why it gives up after 60 seconds or so of getting no response and tries launching the batch file again. It's been said that you can set the GPU_MAX_ALLOCATION and similar settings so you do not need to set them every time you launch the miner... perhaps being able to remove those from the batch file would resolve this issue.

techman05:  I've added your suggestion to the to-do list, but it's a pretty long list at the moment. You can create your own profitability field, which can then be used in place of the regular profitability fields. When creating your own field, you can create conditional expressions... so you can create something like if(REWARD > 10, PROFITABILITY, 0). This means that for each coin, if the reward is higher than 10 its custom field value would be equal to its profitability value. If the coin's reward is 10 or less, its custom field value would be 0, meaning it wouldn't be selected to mine. Note: That isn't the exact way you would write it... there are letters used to represent the different values instead of typing out the whole word. You can see a list of available values in the Custom Field tab in the Coin Manager window. To open the Coin Manager window, go to Settings, click "Other Tools..." button at the bottom, and select "Manage Coins".

As for profitability switching, if the coin you're currently mining is equal to the highest profitability (or whichever value you're basing your profitability mining on), it will not restart the miner. So if you're mining most profitable, which lets say is DOGE, and the next time it checks and sees that DOGE's profitability is equal to the most profitable, it will do nothing. If I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying that it restarts the miner using the same profile? Are you sure it's not a different monitoring option restarting the miner? (e.g. restart miner every X hours)

dency45:  I'm not sure why your cgminer is closing unexpectedly. CGWatcher is detecting it and attempting to restart it, but it has no information as to why it happened. I would suggest trying a different version of cgminer. If you're mining with ASICs, perhaps try the latest version. If you're mining with GPUs, maybe try an older version. I personally use 3.5.0. It could possibly be related to a driver crash... but usually cgminer remains open when this happens.

Giggety:  I think this is more of an sgminer issue than a CGWatcher issue. CGWatcher does the same thing every time, which is really a pretty simple thing - it launches the miner process. What happens after that is up to the miner. If CGWatcher never starts sgminer successfully, then it may be a CGWatcher issue and is something I could look at when I get a minute to check out sgminer more.

thanks for taking the time to reply.

i use batch files with and without the GPU ALLOCATION command; both cause the no-response outcome i mentioned in my post.

another confounding problem is that sometimes CGW won't launch the mining exe either. this happens with different profiles pointing to cgminer.exe, sgminer.exe and vertminer.exe, and correct config files and arguments (eg the keccak and scrypt arguments). it doesn't seem to be a pool issue as the miners don't actually launch so they don't get as far as trying to log in to the pools. it also doesn't seem to be related to GPU overheating, as CGW shows the temp is well below the auto shutdown target temp. so it seems random.

has anyone else experienced this?

techman05:  I've added your suggestion to the to-do list, but it's a pretty long list at the moment.

I have mine set to check the profitability every 4 hrs and presumably switch to if its more profitable. That what I've seen. Maybe its a weird bug from being active looking through cgminers forms like profitability. I'll try again to get to the other site tonight.

Thanks Milone

Hi guys,
Is there any setting in CGWatcher to reboot Windows 7 computer if Internet connection OR API connection to cgminer is lost? The rig sometimes looses Internet connectivity via WiFi. In this case cgminer stops to work, cgminer restarts it several times and then gives up. What would help is rebooting the comp. I didn't find such an option. Any solution for this?
Thank you.

Strange quirk I'm having with vertminer -- and it probably has nothing to do with CGwatcher, but maybe someone here has an idea. I have a rig running 3 7970s, and use CGWatcher's "Devices" tab to disable GPU 0 when I feel like playing a game. When I finish a game and re-enable the GPU, it hashes at like 15-20kh/s instead of the usual 360+. I've tried stopping and starting vertminer, quitting CGwatcher completely and restarting it, and disabling/re-enabling the GPU again. The only thing that remedies the problem is rebooting. A minor inconvenience, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue.

This is a graphic driver issue, that happens to me only on 280x but not on 270x cards when the video driver crashes and restarts itself (the one that gives the message that the driver stopped working and has recovered), when the driver is restored the 280x have very low hashrate even though the clocks are ok etc etc...

My driver isn't crashing though. It's 100% rock-solid stable 24/7 (it's my main gaming rig -- Seasonic X1250, custom watercooling, MSI Z87 Mpower, etc.). This only occurs with vertminer for some reason.

ammi84:  If there's nothing in CGWatcher's log then it's difficult to say why the miner closed unexpectedly. It's not something I've run into. I would suggest enabling the monitoring option "Ensure miner stays running unless stopped by CGWatcher" and see if this helps prevent downtime.

thank you Smiley
could the windows event log help you perhaps?

As much as I love cgremote/cgwatcher I've been switching all of my rigs over to linux. Even with the administration of the mining being a little harder it still just mines so much better that I've had to make the switch. I'm sitting at nearly 15Mh now

I have no experience with vertminer... I've been pretty busy lately but am moving into the new house tomorrow so I'll be back up and running very soon. I cannot guarantee support for it until I get a chance to look at the differences.

ammi84: I misunderstood and thought you were referring to cgminer closing unexpectedly. Please let me know if repairing .NET framework helps. CGWatcher tries to re-launch itself when an unhandled exception occurs that will result in it being terminated, but it may not always get a chance to.

realrover: I'm not sure if there is an option to trigger a scheduled action when the API connection is lost, but if not I can create one. You can then create a scheduled action to restart the computer when this event occurs.

You can still use CGRemote with your Linux rigs... some features will just be disabled for those miners. This is something we've discussed and have a plan to resolve soon so all of the features available for rigs running CGWatcher will also be available to Linux miners.

i will do so :-)

since yesterday cgwatcher.exe seems stable but i will have an eye on it
Eventlog has not wirtten any error since i tried the repair of the .net Framwork

googled around and found this Hotfix: KB2640103
i will try it ... just for sure :-)

but it seems it's for .net 4.0
can't find a solution for .net 4.5 at the moment

Thanks. The error is gone after I restarted my computer lol.
