BTCOracle : Bet on the future price of bitcoin !

Hello guys, quick update to let you know we added achievements !

I sent a TXN when price was at 107.62.  It was from blockchain.info.   Apparently it didn't register at the same time, or real time.

So I'm out .3BTC because your site claims real time betting from blockchain.info and I believed it.

How does that constitute real time betting from blockchain.info?

I would really like an answer to this, as the same thing happened to me a few times. The site owners seem to be missing in action or they just don't care...

Blockchain.info real-time betting does not happen on btc-oracle.  So why do they claim it does?

It uses the time from blockchain.com. Blockchain received the transaction on 2013-06-07 16:40:59 and they took the price of the first transaction on or after that second from Mt. Gox.

It uses the time from blockchain.com. Blockchain received the transaction on 2013-06-07 16:40:59 and they took the price of the first transaction on or after that second from Mt. Gox.

Ok, so I should I have won this bet, but I lost it.  Clearly the price was 107.99 when I placed... but oracle registered it as 110....  WTF?

My bet on the site.   I know the price was 107 when I place it.  It has been confirmed against the MTGOX data.  

Would a DarkEmi or a responsible party please explain what the deal is?

Sorry I am looking at your issue right now. I don't check the forum daily, the surest way to contact us within a short time frame is the support mail, sorry for all the issue.

Just right now something that I can say about our system, from our FAQ :

"
If your bet starts at 09:00:00, we take the first trade thats occurs starting at 09:00:00. If your bet is expected to close at 12:00:00, we will take the price from the first trade that occurs since 12:00:00.
"

Your complaint is not the first one like this we have. At such, we will actively work to revert the system back to what it was; meaning we will take the LAST trade at the time of your bet and not the first trade at the time of your bet

I am sorry I can not check much more as right now blockchain.info is down, so our service probably is. I come back to you with a solution as soon as blockchain.info is up and running.

I am posting again with a decision from my team regarding your bet in the upcoming hours, as soon as blockchain.info is up again

I have just been credited the winning amount.

BTCoracle has excellent customer service and are running a legit site.  This makes me very happy.  Time to go bet the winnings!  (after the bug is fixed).

For complete transparency here is what happened :

The issue is on our market data providers.

We lost the market data access for around an hour or so, we got it some time after your bet was started thus we took an incorrect trade value for your bet.

We are tightening our protection system.

If anyone had the same issue while loosing a bet, contact us and we will correct this as well. I dont think this happened a lot, I found only one bet with the same issue with a quick search and it has been winning.

If you happened to win a bet which you should have lost instead, then well lucky you

Why changing a working system?
I don´t think, that players are appreciate, if they change the running system.
It is complete irrelevant, if they take the price before, or after placing the bet.
Most of the time the blockchain is a few seconds till a minute ahead of Gox time.
So your bet will never arrive right at the dot, you wanna have it.
Just deal with it.
It is gambling!

We are still unsure about this change actually. This is still a heated discussion in our team
As Zephir said, reverting the system pose a lot of problem because people are used of the way it is now.

In any case, what is most important to us is what players want, and we are unsure of that, but unless there is a strong consensus we wont change the system now we think.

Another issue, is we propose simple verification links for players with mtgox, and we cannot propose these tools anymore if we change the system.
