This is hard to predict altcoins against bitcoins because nowadays bitcoin has been leading among the cryptocurrency. And it is being used by many people againts altcoins, so Im stil hoping altcoins would stand top against bitcoin. Even bitcoins is most promising and currently price is soaring high.
You can still predict the path of altcoin in the market if you do a lot of research, we all know that bitcoin is on the top of the list in the market but does not mean that bitcoin will be there forever, there still a lot of altcoins in the market that have a lot of potential against bitcoin and just waiting to be discovered by us. Don't think negative, just take risk and be always positive.
I don’t think altcoins are waiting to be discovered by us, since I guess most of the user of the forum with capital are invested in some other coins other than bitcoin the altcoins needs to be discovered by other people outside of the community if they hope to take over bitcoin.
I do not think that altcoin will be more prioritized than bitcoin. See all altcoin the price following the price of bitcoin. Although some altcoins have a rate in dollars. But altcoin is just an investment option other than bitcoin

Its true that if bitcoin remains with the issues it has now the huge delays over transactions and high fees around others coins will get more power against bitcoins, the current altcoin market already showed there are coins ready to assume if bitcoin fails. Bitcoin is king and will very hard to moove the money around it into other coins, but not impossible, bitcoin need solutions and to upgrade otherwise altcoins will dominate crypto.

I have been seeing Bitcoins' price rising with a stability in its growth, but due to the higher mining fee that is being levied on transactions these days, big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets. Do you think this may harm Bitcoin's dignity and open up a chance in real for alts to rise?
Of course there are chance that altcoins can beat bitcoin since there are many investors that are currently interested in digital currency which they are looking for such coins which has a potential to go against or compete with bitcoin such as etherum, ltc, and many more. Also, since transaction os bitcoin isn't that fast enough to gets confirmed, it is the opprtunity of an altcoins to focus more on what bitcoin doesn't have in order to go against with it.

Bitcoin still holds the market dominance in the crypto market capitalization.
Too many a coins have resolved the bitcoin's problem. But in fact, if the bitcoin still hold a lot of the volume that the bitcoin has to dominate the crypto market.
In the technical aspects altcoin has become a winner than bitcoin but from popularity, average people's knowledge and another aspects bitcoin still being a winner.
It must be considered from a lot of view.

There is no other cryptocurrency in the world that is going to become more famous than Bitcoin right now...BTC is better suited to be an safe haven asset, capital investment and long term option for hoarders. Smiley

It seems you are not paying attention to altcoin assets that keeps growing and can come in anytime when bitcoin fades, for example the smart contract concept offered by ethereum that has got the trust of its users, I don't say bitcoin will lose, but all success in this world comes from Endless innovation, if innovation die it will be drowned by competitors.

Yes do not focus in bitcoin only, expand you capability to invest in other cryptocurrency also. Bitcoin is for long term but it doesn't mean that it will be here forever because it will gets old and slow so it is better to have a back up currencies for long term that you will choose to hold in terms of long term, there is a lot of currencies worth it to invest in the market just look and do your own study before you buy.

I don't think that there will be competitors for bitcoin in price. Even there will be better altcoins compared to it. Like ethereum or some other altcoin. The popularity of bitcoin is immense and is growing everyday. No one other altcoin has such popularity. Anyhow never say never. So exist an 1% of probability that some other altcoin goes higher than bitcoin. But for me this 1% don't exist or better is only theorique.

Right now, bitcoin is on the top, number 1, it's obvious.
Bitcoin already have very strong foundation, many users, merchants, even bitcoin ATM, debit cards, many exchangers accept bitcoin etc.
All this is fine but in the Internet world it's very difficult to predict future, next 5, 10 or 20 years.
Do you remember Nokia, or AOL, for example?
They was industry leaders, but more advanced technology, smartphones and Google replaced them.
So, if something better comes, it will replace bitcoin.
We don't know yet what may happen in the future.
I think nokia is losing competitiveness because they are not doing any innovation than its competitors. But bitcoin will continue to evolve and innovate that's why bitcoin will persist

Not at the moment bitcoin is very strong at the moment so the only possibility I see for altcoins is if bitcoin does not present any improvement for the next years while altcoins do.

that is completely true , once an altcoin takeover bitcoin place as the best and useful cryptocurrency , some people might will just lost their interest in digital money world , cryptocurrency investment , cryptocurrency business etc. too much love for bitcoin .

now there no shortage of fiat routes in, there are many speculators who've probably never touched bitcoin.

people here often forget how tiny bitcoin is. if 5% of malaysia started using an alt they'd outnumber bitcoin users.

i think it's very possible there'll be coins that could be as big as bitcoin and everything would still be fine. the whole scene is changing and there are still billions who haven't arrived.

that being said i don't think many or any of the current alts are well tested or honest enough to deserve my trust.

What is good with alt is they can correct what bitcoin lacks in their implementation. I think, if there is an altcoin that can avoid the problems that bitcoin is facing right now, that coin can become the next bitcoin.
It would take a lot of years for any altcoin to gain what Bitcoin has now (reputation, adoption, price, etc.). I admit that there are quite a lot of great altcoins, but for me, if Bitcoin were gone for good, I would lose any interest in the digital crypto currency world.

You can't say that for sure because we don't know yet the reason why bitcoin disappeared. If it was because of another cryptocurrency that's more interesting than bitcoins, then I think people will start having even more interest in the cryptocurrency world. This whole thing is not just about trust wherein when bitcoin has disappointed you, you'd forever shut down the whole crypto-currency world. This is about being disappointed in a failed coin and be able to gain your loss from other investments. Basically about how you go up once you fall down.
I think so, everything is fair in the cryptocurrency market even though some people want to manipulate it in order to get instant profits.
But at least we know that better coin will lead the market, bitcoin as the first one still become the best but can you see another coin which has potential and high price right now, sitting on the second position after bitcoin? As long as confirmation time and fees are the problems for bitcoin users, people may look at another coin to invest.

I don’t see it as a threat to bitcoin’s popularity. Bitcoin will remain the number one as an investment and trading currency. No other currency will be able to beat that at least for another 5 years. However, it is also good to see the some alts are finding meaning at last.

Bitcoin initially started as a transaction provider but due to the high transaction fees, people will eventually stop using it as a transaction currency and treat it as an investment currency. In the meantime, some other alts will have higher price because of it’s usability. It is bound to happen but not so soon.

one thing is for sure , bitcoin is well known and established which can not struggle getting investor support but the current transaction backlogs and high transaction fees

simply allows altcoins to grow in popularity and should they prove worth their while alts will have a chance against bitcoins

Bitcoin evolution is not over, don't say that it will be replaced by other better altcoins because it is slow.
BTC can be upgraded and it is not a problem that we can't do it, or we don't have technology.
This is totally political debate + big money that are hindering bitcoin's progress above all else.
Altcoins can be upgraded very easily because, either: community is not big enough, users don't care, there is only one way to upgrade.

How come people haven't moved to another coin then, given the fact that there are coins that have a faster and cheaper transaction than bitcoins. Bitcoin has a confirmation time problem and kind of high fees as well but is there any coin that has solved it so far? Nope, there are some but not by that much. It's not enough reason for people to migrate from the best to the second best. Lightning network is what people are looking for and it's more than enough reason for people to start using another coin primarily.

I am not a fan of any alts but recently tried ETH to make few micro transactions of 1$ with just around 1cent worth ETH on fees. I find this really helpful and i think i will do same for other micro transactions in future.

However i don't think people will move form bitcoin to other alts completely due to this block size issues because price of all other alts are really volatile and many don't want to take risk of holding large amount of alts in their wallets.

That's why I'm also fond of some of altcoins especially will mark Ethereum, Dash, Monero, Litecoin. There micro transactions fees one of the good side so there no reason why not experiment these coins. But still it's good behind the Bitcoin and surely in near no chance to lead . However, I'm satisfied to use these coins in trading, gambling.

Too many altcoins now, Dash,Zcash, Monero and Rep increases their prices too. But i think none of them can replace the stability of BTC in cryptocurency.
