Okay guys,
I forgot to enable Windows 10 in the motherboard advance settings area. So I enabled that, and right now I'm just troubleshooting one of my PCI Express ports. Looks like my 5th port magically disappeared. I no longer see it in the chipset area.
Will update again soon.

God, I can't get it to read the 5th card.
Maybe it's the Celeron CPU G3900.
It's just not working.

Update,

I got it to work!!!
Something weird happened to my PCI Express Ports, and had to just move my cards around.
But the G3900 Celeron Skylake Dual-Core CPU works for more than 4 GPUs.
Z170A M5 Mobo.

Thanks guys!
I can always count on you smart boys.
Also, thanks for telling me to take out the battery.
That really helped reset everything.

well well well...

After recognizing 7 gpu and mining for a while, the rig freezed,
now its impossible to boot with 7 cards. (i guess there is some error screen, but i dont have any display plugged in)
*edit: windows goes into diagnostic & repair mode when a 6th or 7th card is plugged in.
With 5 card i dont have any issues and its mining OK.

i got the last driver from amd.com for my rx480 4g nitro.
bios setting is unchanged
windows 10 pro up to date
1300w psu

any ideas ?
which driver you guys are using with the z170/rx480 combo ?

these problem doesn,t relate to the 7 Gpu  on mother board .  there is either of 2 things u need to check :

1 if u don,t use a modded bios on yr rig then the 1300 PSU is small for the 7 GPU cause 480sonsume 225 watt " from sapphire website"
so in that case u better use 1600watt PSU  or try to undervolt from wattool a bit ...

2  if u use a modded bios  and was aggressive in the under voltage these things can happen ....

but I think its the 1st option ,,,  and to make sure u can try any watt meter to check how much watt u consume at the wall .

thx botros, but the PSU is ok to power 7 cards without any issues,

i finnally got my 7 cards back, it was all about the drivers !
i uninstall the last amd driver and now i got my 7 showing, im about to install an older driver and see if its stable enough.
Which drivers are you guys suggesting for rx480 4g ?

ok for  15.12 for me it wasn't working.(radeon saphire nitro 480/4g)
i run the driver 16.40 that comes with the GPU -a good old CD-and disabled auto-update (amd/windows)

I now run claymore eth only at 173.512Mh/s  and zcash at 2040
i think its really good considering it is all stock settings.

most people with modded Bios use 16 9 2
if u r on stock Bios so u better use 15 12 as its adviced in Claymore read me file

its good that u solved yr problem ,,, but if it happened again I think u shouls check wattage at wall with watt meter like kill a watt from amazon
https://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1494466147&sr=8-1&keywords=kill+a+watt

and if u have euro plug u can get it from ebay

Hi All,
We built the rig with 5 rx480 (no more risers currently) on that mobo and Win10 (driver 16.11.5), but have a problem: MSI Afterburner doesn't show GPU voltage/temperature/load and so on for RX cards.
What i suspect that i set to first initialize cpu's intel graphic card in the BIOS, because we connected monitor to it during install/setup. Maybe this confused afterburner in some way?
So, any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks.

ps: i start Afterburner in the RDP session.

U have to connect a monitor to one of your AMD cards to activate the fan / temp sensors

I am having an issue with this board and it's driving me nuts.

I'm using a G3900 skylake. If I enable Windows 10 mode and leave my GPU's plugged in, the screen stays dark and won't boot.

I have to unplug all my gpu's and plug my monitor into the onboard hdmi to get any image.

If I disable Windows 10 mode I am able to see the screen turn on and get into bios, but it won't boot into the windows installer.

I'm currently installing Windows 10 in GPT mode with all the GPUs unplugged and using the onboard graphics to my monitor.

I have bios set exactly as everyone else here: PEG 1 and 2 to Gen 1 and 4G Enabled

Can someone write an exact step by step on how to set up this board with 7 gpu?

No matter what I do if I connect the 7 gpus I don't get any kind of image on my monitor through HDMI connected to any of the 7 cards.

just received my risers and setup 6 GPUs on this board with manufacturer bios 1.D no problem

My rig:

G4400
MSIZ170 M5
8G Ram
120G SSD
1300W PSU
4 X 1080 Ti FE + 2 X 1070 AIB (should get 1600W PSU to support 6 X 1080 Ti)
WIN10pro

I firstly installed 4 X 1080 Ti, and found PCIE 1 & 3 not working with 4 card setting, I only got them working in PCIE 2/4/5/6/7 (don't understand why), or the motherboard only recognized 3 cards.

Luck I added two extra 1070s without any problem, so now I am using PCIE 2~7

Just tried it. Plugged in a single GPU and use that as video output, there's no image on my screen if I enable Windows 10 mode in bios. If I disable windows 10 whql support in bios, it works fine but I can't boot into a windows install or windows itself. If I plug the monitor directly into the onboard hdmi, then everything works fine.

I disabled fast boot and it seems to be working!! I get proper video output from one gpu shown on my monitor with 7 gpus hooked up. However now Device Manager only shows 5 GPUs instead of 7.

Bios settings same as before. All Gen 1 with 4G Enabled

Hello,

Same board

LGA1151 G3900 Skylake 4GB of Ram 2133mhz ddr4 AMD 3 480oc and 1x 480gaming x, I can't get past 3 cards

PEG0 & PEG1 Currently set to GEN2
I have Windows 10 turned on in bios and the rest disabled
4G Decoding : enabled
UEFI/GPT is setup properly drivers are 16.9.2

I have 3 cards connected, the 4th stops the system from booting up.

Risers : 3 are version 006 and my new ones are version 007.

Anything I might of missed? I've been very thorough or so I feel...

I've lost a lot of sleep.  Huh

1. you may try a skylake CPU?
2. I had problem with 4 1080 Ti too, you must put three GPUs first on the three full-length PCIEs, then try adding the last GPU on different 1xPCIE. I have two slots not working for my four GPUs setting.

I can't get more than 4 working, even with the GPUmod to allow more cards. I'm thinking it's just a crappy chipset...
