I'm not sure if he would be the right manager to replace Potter actually. I think Chelsea can find a manager who is even more successful in his career. Napoli are making an effort to extend Kvaratskhelia's contract by one more year. Both Beenado Silva and Gundogan have been eyed as players they will like to make Barcelona player's. For Jude Bellingham it is either Liverpool or Real Madrid movement to Manchester City or Manchester United won't be possible. They won't fire Graham Potter until the end of this season because even if the new coach starts working there he will need some time to sync with the team while Potter at least knows this teams very well during this time, currently, Luis Enrique and Zinedine Zidane are the coaches linked to Chelsea and I think one of these two will be the next coach of Chelsea.

I think Todd Boehly doesn't want to sack Potter yet because he believes people who blame him for getting things completely wrong by sacking Tuchel and hiring Potter even when there was no concrete reason as to why he fired Tuchel, so he just wants to let things be for now and hope that Potter gets it right, because it does not sound right that he just bought Chelsea a couple of months ago (less than a year) and he has already fired and hired two managers.

The problem is that if he was really worthy, or if it was obvious that he really needed time to improve, even without the top players we would be able to notice some changes in the team's tactics, its play on the field, and so on. But that didn't happen with or without the new players. It's pretty obvious, I think.
