In the Champions league match against Benfica, Messi asked the coach to substitute him because he was tired, that's the consequences of age. It was not Xavi's claim but that's the truth. A team cannot have young and dependable defenders like Araujo, Kounde, Christensen and Garcia and still rely on Pique. All I can contribute is that pique wants to help Barcelona off the financial issues they have currently was the main reason he retired from football. He is now handing over the defending to Araujo to handle, when he is back he will fully be in charge with Christensen and Kounde to partner him. Messi has has grown old and in my opinion will not be able to cope with the aggressive nature of English football if he moves to Manchester City. Bayern Munich would be eager to sell him there is no doubt about that. They must already be looking for a striker to transfer next summer. Manchester United should look for a much younger and talented striker if they really aim this kind of a transfer. It wouldn't be bad to sign a good striker honestly. Choupo- Moting is a good player, he is fast and has the ability of scoring good goals. Why United need backup player? I think they have enough strikers- Martial, Rashford (also can play as a striker), Ronaldo. So as long as they have these players they don't need anymore further strikers I believe. I can understand where the rumors are coming from as he is having a good time at Bayern right now scoring goals but I think with Bayern at times facing a proper goalscorer at times he can come handy in those situations. Yes, I agree. He is a great player, but his age is taking a toll on his performance. So, I think he has made the right decision. Honestly, by staying in Barcelona I don’t think he would’ve done anything good for the club anymore. I really think he has already given everything that he could have to Barcelona. And now it is time for him to end the long-term relationship with this club on good terms.
