Kante has been instrumental for Chelsea but that was 1-2 years ago. Now with injury a club has to look out for options. First thing is that they can't keep a player who gets injured easily when they are playing at a stage where they have to play CL, PL and other cup games and everything is crucial for them.  So it's usually coach and board's call and how they see it. Right now they have lot of players in Kante's position so they might be thinking of dropping a few. I don't think they will try to get midfielders now if they think Kante is important. If they make a big move for defensive midfielder then I think there is no future for Kante then. He will be losing lot of his game time and has to part his ways with the club eventually.

About Mount's future, he is a good attacking midfielder and can adapt to lot of positions but right now Potter has many options so I don't think he is getting considered for the regular lineup. During the time of Tuchel, Tuchel used two attacking midfielders but Potter uses wingers instead of midfielders so there is no chance of pure attacking midfielders to find a role in Potter's formation unless they are good at certain roles. So unless Potter changes his tactic a bit and try incuding an attacking midfielder, I don't see Mount getting chances as he would want. Now Chelsea board has put their trust on Potter for a long term so let's see how long Mount handles this situation. Likely scenario is that he might leave.

@LUCKMCFLY initially I thought that Potter needed some time, but then Chelsea suddenly invested too much too soon and he’s yet struggled which show’s that he’s not the correct person for the job and if Chelsea lose one or two more games then he’ll probably be sacked. Chelsea board to sell Mason Mount: Chelsea board will look to sell attacking midfielder Mason Mount this summer if he fails to agree to a new contract at the end of the season. Why is Mason Mount giving the club a headache, if he isn't interested in the future plans of the club then he should leave immediately. He isn't contributing anything positive at the moment to the club so why is he thinking he's that important to the club. The management should sell him immediately and give attention to those that truely want to play for the club. Other players that are more impactful to the club has already onboarded themselves on the Todd Boehly project by signing the long term partnership by extending their contract for years at the club, why is Mason Mount holding back.

I don't think the problem is salary but maybe Mason Mount doesn't believe Chelsea will be top of their game come next 5-7 years as his contract is for 7 years. Mason mount has always been favorite for a captain role in the squad but from this contract extension decision, I don't think a player like him should still be in the club at the start of the new season. We have Gallagher that can fill his role perfectly so Mason mount can go out of the club I don't care.
