how many watt?

A lot lol, I did the math and 1Mh/s eth pays for 30W and 120Mh/s Dcr pays for 30W. The rig gets 8MH/s more Eth and ~2000MH/s more Dcr by not undervolting completely (so 740W worth of profit) and the total rig consumption from the wall is about 1450W

What PSU are you using to push 8 GPUs? Thanks.

You would need a 1600 watt PSU with at least 8 PCIE connectors. Something like this would work ---- https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438033&cm_re=evga_1600_watt-_-17-438-033-_-Product --- or use 2 separate PSUs, ideally 1 1200 watt server psu (for 6 GPUs) and a ~600 watt atx psu (for 2 GPUs and motherboard etc). That would be the better choice imo, quite abit cheaper too.

I found the answer...

There's no reason to get a standard ATX power supply if you only need 12V rail.

Get this instead:
http://www.parallelminer.com/product/hp-750w-he-94-power-supply-7-pci-e-16awg-psu-kit-for-antminer-l3-litecoin-miner-ltc/

Same efficiency, less than half the price, higher capacity.

Use the 1200W version to push 6+ cards. Get a EVGA 600W supply for $40 to push the MOBO, CPU, HDD, and Riser Cards. Total is $120 for all the needed juice. Beats paying $330+ for a 1600W supply.

Thoughts?

Sounds like windows is updating it automatically. You'll need to go to services and disable windows update.

This is a nice mining operation you got going here.

How do you manage the electricity? Is it free for you or really cheap?

I think you described my exact setup lol. Except I use the EVGA Gold 650W to maintain efficiency, ~$80. The 1200W actually only runs 900W on 110V (looking to hook up 220), so I monitored the usage on the two PSUs and I did hook one card up exclusively on the EVGA to balance the load correctly

If I knew I was going to run 8 cards again, I'd run two of the 750's instead. I could get super cheap with the mobo PSU then and use the 750's to power the risers as well

I've had  my eye on those PSU's lately.  I love the risers they sell.  From what I could tell the 750w does 750w on 110v?  I am in the process of running a 40amp circuit to my mining room with a PDU so I can use the 1200w.

I'm not too familiar with server PSU's but I know on ATX supplies you want to stay in a certain load range for max efficiency

Thanks for the info. Please explain the order you power on your two PSUs. Do you power on the mobo first, then power on the 1200W psu? Or do you leave the 1200w psu permanently powered on during reboots/shutdowns?

1200w first, keep it on during bootups and shutdowns, turn it off if I'm doing something else. From what I read, it keeps the GPU powered in an idle state, but the heatsink is big enough to passively cool it even in low operation so I'm not worried about that

So the MIS Z270-A Pro on windows 10 with expansions  can runs 8 RX580 with modid bios using driver trick? You do relize that people will now go and buy  Z270-A Pro and 8x R580 . I really hope your not just paying with us.

dumb question "what is with expansions?"

i like that 8 gpu setup too Smiley

Not dumb at all. Is it this?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-E-1X-Expansion-Kit-1-to-3-Port-Switch-Multiplier-HUB-Riser-Card-USB-Cable-/191949792720?hash=item2cb11965d0:g:M20AAOSwYmZXFl3a

Can someone provide a reputable seller of PCIe expansion kits?

Did anyone tried MSI Z170A Gaming pro carbon with 7 x RX570/580?
If so, is it stable?

I've just bought an MSI Z170A Gaming pro carbon, and just hesitate to open it... since I just saw the info from Apneal that he could pass with 8x RX570/580 on an MSI Z270A PRO. So I don't if it works also with the Z170A Gaming pro carbon. Chipsets are a little bit different...
But I don't know if it's stable for Apneal also, or has problems as told it before from others...

+1 I have been wondering which  are good for the money.  You can order the same one you linked for 30-40$ from china.

I have validated this one works https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I2Y84TE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  I will be ordering bulk soon as I have gotten this to work on an old HP motherboard for a 5 gpu setup.  Just bought a lot of HP motherboards for dirt cheap
