Does anyone know if AMD fixed the driver issue with >5 GPU's? Can you do 6 GPU without driver tweaking or do you still need to copy that file from an older driver?

Hi Jamievs,

I am finding my 3 rigs stable with 17.5.2 relive. No need to copy over with old versions. I actually tried with the latest (16.2) and it seemed to work fine. I think after 15.2 they've made it possible to run the latest drivers for multiple cards.

Download the 17.5.2 relive drivers from here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-Edition-17.5.2-Release-Notes.aspx , extract, and use device manager to install (as you probably already know). Make sure you use DDU to uninstall all the previous drivers first. And only do this with 1 card.

Hi,

Is it possible to run 6 GPU MSI RX580 Gaming 8 Go on the motherboard Asus Prime Z270-P?
Up to know i only get 3 GPU with success, as soon as i try 4 or 5 or 6 GPU, the result i see only 1 or 2 GPU, no more, it's sound like my config meet limitation hardware somewhere.
I see on this motherboard it is Chipset Intel Z270 Kaby Lake and the controllers of PCIE are also Intel Kaby Lake, and my cpu is Skylake-S, may be there is an compatibility issue?

My config:
Asus Prime Z270P (Last Bios 0808)
CPU G3900 Skylake-S
Memory DDR4 PC4 19200 G-SKILL 2 x 4 Go
6 GPU MSI RX580
6 Risers
Supply x2 750W (Synchronised)
Windows 10 64 Bits (version 1703)
Driver 17.6.2

In Bios 4G Decoding Enabled, PCIE Gen1.
I read this topic, and i try all suggestions i have seen, but, nothing to do, always get only 3 GPU, no more detected.
I believe i will give up, and i will order new motherboard Z270A or new CPU Kaby Lake, because i am too bad at this moment..., i need help for sure.

Anyone have some experience with ASRock B250M Pro 4?
I'm having problems getting the 4th and 5th card getting detected. Also, when i link the first m.2-pcie riser i lose one of the pcie cards. Seems like a bios config problem but i can't find the reason.

edit:
got the 4th card working with a m.2 to pcie adapter plus riser.
everything gen1, audio disabled and only 1 dumb plug on the card which doesn't have riser.
going to try the 5th on the other m.2 slot.

edit2:
for no reason everything got unstable after 12 hours with 4 cards. One of the GPUs (the one linked to the m.2 slot) is very unstable and hangs the process. I'm using a Corsair 750W PSU, 280W on the plug, 4xRX460 4Gb. VM 16384MB. Bios updated, win 10 pro.

edit3:
just notice that one of my cards is drawing power on a bigger gap than the others. GPU0,1,3 drawing 55W each. GPU2 drawing from 40W to 70W. (doesn't show on HWMonitor, only on GPUZ.

Any tips?

Ok fellas, first of all huge thanks to all for the dedication and effort to get this working!

My Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon now perfectly recognises 7x RX 570 GPUs.

However..
Claymore doesn't.
It sees them alright, but errors out. "openCL error -4 (0) - Cannot create DAG on gpu.

It keeps restarting.

Any ideas appreciated!

run linux, it handles these things better.
Actually, I increased virtual memory to 16400 MB and this solved that.

Amazing. 7 GPUs mining on 1 MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon mobo CONFIRMED!

This community is worth gold... I mean... Bitcoin. Worth more than gold.

Dragonmike can you give us an update on your rig?.

Or anyone reading... with this MoBo MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon I can get 6xMSI RX580 with no problem getting 29,5MH/s ETH on each.     BUT 7xGPU is now unstable clock/volt settings.      How about MoBo BIOS and GPU BIOS?    I have both modded.   Driver 17.4.4 patched with older AMD driver 16.9.2  folder.  Same as most people with this MoBO and the RX5xxs in order to get them detected.

I don´t have precise power measuring but my PSU is EVGA 1300W which is sufficient for the rig.   I have Windows 10 Pro.

I believe if 6xGPUs are detected, installed, patched and mining there should be no reason to freeze with the 7th but that is where I am.   If anyone has some clue I really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot

Tried different cards on each riser. Everything works well with 3 cards. When i get the 4th one of them gets the power drawing variable and after a while the system crashes.

Solved. PSU 750W working with 5 cards, win10, 3pcie slots plus 2 m.2 adapters.

My 6 card rig is crashing when creating the DAG, 5 cards working fine.

3 x AORUS RX570
3 x MSI ARMOR RX570
Win 10 64 bit
Tried various drivers with the same result.

Windows see's all GPU's but as soon as claymore starts creating dag it hangs. Any suggestions?

Hey guys,

I read a lot about a problem with more than 4 cards and that you must combine drivers. But i expect you can start Windows, which doesnt recognise more than 4 cards.
I have a little different problem. With more than 4 cards my Win10 even wont start. I see only black screen. I can reach BIOS, thats all. With up to 4 cards everything is working perfectly.

I have motherboard Asus Prime h270-plus and Sapphire rx 580 8GB cards, PSU 1200w.
Do someone experinece same problem? I am desperate after 3 days of trying to solve this. Thanks for any help. If someone provides me a solution, my first payment will go on his adress.

If you are getting Black screen on the 5th card you need to enable 4G addressing options in the motherboard Bios.  Plug the 5th card enter the bios settings and find the option for enabling PCI bus to see more than 4 cards.     Read the thread above to find details of the option for that specific motherboard.   That is all you need then install the 5th card

Good Luck and Happy Mining

Do you mind letting me know what settings in the bios you had to use to get 5 cards running?

I have the same board. going to be running ubuntu, with the riser setup - 2 m.2 to pcie adapters, and then 5 risers (3 to the regular pcie and 2 to the m.2 adapters)

ill be using 1060's

is it just set 4g decoding to ON and then the upper memory lower (tulad? w.e that is) to 1gb?

If you dual mine, I would go with an EVGA 1200 W G2/P2. That will give you ~25% overhead from the rated power.
