From this point in time, i would say that your prediction is not just possible, but very probable.

Why? If you look at the charts on coinmarketcap.com you will see that the price has consistently increased over the past few months. Not just one big price hike and then a dump like 2013. There is a major difference between this year's pump which is way more sustainable, compared to the 2013 pump which happened basically overnight and the dump happened overnight as well.

But still, it is important that you don't take on a lot of risk. Maybe keep a portion of your savings in USD and the other portion in BTC.

You actually meant that in the recent past, there was no bad news? There were some, such as the ETF rejection by the SEC. And just yesterday some $70 million worth of Bitcoins were stolen from the Yapizon exchange.

In my opinion, if the Japan will continue doing the same thing, we will have 2000$ per one bitcoin before the new year.

We are already Nearing the $1500 mark and the price on the google converter are $1478.55 we are seeing the value of bitcoin going to that notch and I think that the resistant over to the $1400 was now gone and has been replace to the $1500 value now we are only waiting for that barrier to really break it up to $2000 if it happens,

I personally wouldn't say it's possible to reach $2000 this year before the price started to go up, but it doesn't seem that unlikely anymore if things continue in the same manner.

On the other hand, this situation is completely different from the year 2013 where MtGox singlehandedly caused the price to reach a false all time high.

Right now there is serious demand coming from all parts of the world, where back in 2013 things where still more or less new and exciting. Thing are getting serious now.

It may be possible, if the people are not capable enough to keep their coins safe such things will happen, we are surrounded by both the good and bad people. Criminal minds will always think of doing something wrong to people and to the society while we need to protect ourselves from them in a way that we are not even accessible to them.

I think the current surge is a testament to how well bitcoin has performed over the last few months, even dating back to when the price idled at $600 for a while.

A testament? Can you explain more why the "testament" has occured and what you think is the reason behind the rise?

 

Now that a lot of positive news is coming the way of bitcoin, the worries caused by the hard fork seems to be overshadowed, although definitely not to be ignored. At some point, the price is going to rest and even correct, but the long term trend is still up and up and up.

What positive news? Please post them in the thread. Bitcoin's problems are just beginning in my opinion.

In the next 11 days we might even surpass $2000 who knows right? this is the nature of a decentralized and free market, it only depends on how bad  they really want to get some Bitcoin, as much as I'd like to see the price rise further more I'm kind of skeptic and currently holding back and putting trades in a halt position first to see if the market as a whole has the potentials strong enough not to bend under the overpriced trades, if this can sustain for 10 more days then I'd suggest to everyone to get ready for $1300 as the new floor.

During the past year same time we were trailing to reach $500 which looked to be a big price. Today everything has got changed, during those days we were all speculating about the ATH that didn't sustained long. Today a sustained growth has happened achieving the new ath. So sure the next target of users could be $2000.

Almost everyone believes that the price of bitcoin will reach $ 2,000 by the end of this year. I would also like to see such a price. And if the price increase is just as rapid, it will become an opportunity in the near future

Am I the only one here who is thinking that Bitcoin could go down anytime now? I am not selling, in fact I will buy more if there is a dump. But what I have learned from the behavior of the market and the comments in this forum is the moment everyone is very bullish, that is the time to start to be careful.

For sure it will be, the current situation makes me say that yes within the next six months it may be at a price of $2000 or maybe more. What actually is accelerating the prices is the acceptance for the BTC in the world. There are no symptoms of hindrances that can stop it from being valued more in the future.
