What if, we advertise bitcoin on T.V.?

Back in a day BitPay spent a lot of money on high-profile advertising of Bitcoin (not their own business), dogecoin community managed to get their coin on Nascar car etc. So it's nothing impossible by any means.

But as I wrote above, we're well past that stage. Pretty much everyone in a civilised world have already heard of Bitcoin one way or another and we get mainstream press hits almost on daily basis.

I think bitcoin advertisement on TV is not new anymore. BitFlyer in Japan made one a few months ago in case you are interested:

These commercial videos are not for promoting Bitcoin for me. The goal of those videos is to give them the opportunity to promote their business, not bitcoin, they mention bitcoin because it is a currency they use. I watched the videos, both in 30 seconds they mention Bitpay 3 times. It's some commercial videos to promote bitpay mainly. As I said, advertising on TV is to get a ROI from it, not promoting bitcoin without anything in return.

It's a great option for marketing purpose but my country still forbid bitcoin usage so it's impossible for my country at the moment.

Luckily some local news able to review bitcoin although their marketing range still in low circle ( small range )
I'm sure if 1 people notice bitcoin value at the moment, they will tell each other for next day

From legal viewpoint, in my country we can't start such advertisement.
Central bank didn't recognize bitcoin as official currency or way of payment.
In such conditions, we can't promote bitcoin officially.
I think it's much better to start education campaign through Internet (forums, social networks) and educate people about bitcoin.
We will have much more effect from it and more users will come.

The main problems this idea will face is, who will advertise bitcoin and How. Who do you think is rich enough to advertise bitcoin when it's not really gonna benefit him directly. Even if a group of people decide advertise then how will the approach be, have you even seen a currency been advertised, or have you even seen gold been advertised?

Most countries don't accept BTC as a legal currency and they do think it is a thing that only criminals use to get away from the hold of the government.
But soon they will have to acknowledge the presence of bitcoin soon as it's price is rising and so is it's community.
Anyway I will not be surprised when I am watching TV and suddenly a pop-up appears that is somehow related to bitcoins. That is still far away. The reason to this is that there must be a lot of funders who funds these payments and since it is open-source nobody really cares about it. They only do care for thier own benefits and gains. Not all people I mean most.

Moral : TV ads will appear soon but it will take a while for the funders to get together and form a solid plan and convince the TV guys to allow thier ad. It's all giving me a headache to think about it. For now I think let's forget about it and hope and wait for the TV day.

Bitcoin will not be advertised on TV, but services and companies will have commercials how they accept bitcoins and othet altcoins probably. In that way all marketing expenses will be paid by companies, in this moment I don't see no one who will give money for bitcoin marketing, why would we do that? In any way bitcoin will find a way to every living person in this world.

I guess this would be possible if someone created a crowdfunding campaign for it and enough people joined in.
But would it make that much of a difference? As the Bitcoin price increases, you'd have enough free advertising by news websites and even on TV.

Why pay for advertising on TV when you basically already have it for free....
Once Bitcoin goes over $2000, you can be sure it will be covered by pretty much all major news networks.

The only way to advertise bitcoin is, imo, when people try to use it as currency and not only holding it as commodity. That is, if you love it and you believe that it worth to be known everywhere then next time you go to a shop ask to pay with bitcoin and not with credit/debit card or cash. Merchants will happily accept it as payment if there are customers asking for it over and over again.

What kind of advertise do you want to do in Television? Many people will impress if they think they can gain more profit here but how? I think you need greatest Idea to impress more people to use bitcoin. And Who the sponsors of that ads? Ofcourse you need big money to do this Project.

I don´t think anyone will pay for a TV commercial to promote bitcoin. Companies usually buy advertising space to promote their product to earn money. What will happen in the future is that, for example, a betting house advertised on television will start accepting deposits and withdrawals in bitcoin, later a mobile payments app will also start accepting bitcoin, and in their ads they will explain briefly the operation of bitcoin, that is to say, the day will come when some business accepting btc and announcing it will do that advertising function.

I totally agree. We cannot really foretell what the future has in store for Bitcoins but local merchants may advertise their products and indirectly promote the usage of Bitcoins. Say, they accept Bitcoin as a form of payment in order to entice more consumers. This way, Bitcoins are indirectly advertised to consumers alike. Nonetheless, it would be futile to advertise Bitcoin as of writing since advertising requires a huge sum, and perhaps, no one will be willing to shoulder the costs. Moreover, Bitcoin can sustain even without the help of TV ads.

Who would make that commercial? Satoshi Nakamoto? Like "everybody use bitcoins that I have created". I think that would make people confused. But TV commercial of an exchanger or bank where would be noticed that now they accept bitcoin as well would attract attention and wouldn't look agressive.

What you will promote in your advertisement like "bitcoin is a smart money for quick transactions" or "it is a decentralized money for ensuring anonymous" ? I guess these will not be reaching the right audience as you are targeting.

Instead of thinking to promote bitcoins, just plan up a business which will be accepting bitcoin as an optional payment, and then promote your business. It will reach more audience if your business has concepts and people will ask you what is bitcoin for sure. I guess this is already happening and for this reason no one is planning for promoting the base bitcoin system.

Bitcoin is not expecting for its growth, we may need to work on our own growth, that would be more than enough to make bitcoin spread everywhere.

Probably but we maybe in the internet era but not all wants to just sit there and read and sometimes doing absulotely nothing. While many fail to realize how easy after sometime to get money here many are are still interested to try these but may not exceed beyond a year. If even you suggest that localities might accept btc it would soon gather attention of the government and sometimes the government wont approve of anything that is tax free except churches therefor if a government fails economically they target these taxless transaction and who knows what they would do.

I do not think it is going to make much difference.We see a lots of ads on tv everyday but do we try each one of them just because we see it on tv?.
Bitcoin is not a product it is a technology.Have you seen anyone promoting internet on television or anywhere?
People adopt new technology when they need it,when they learn the benefits.

It would be a successful campaign IMO, i think most people who are not involved at the moment put it down to lack of knowledge or information about btc and alt coins.

I don't think it's a good idea to promote bitcoin at mainstream levels, when the technology is not still ready to cater for mainstream levels of adoption (at least in terms of mainstream level of transactions). So forget about it until we at least get segwit and lightning network operative.

Once we get that down then you can go around preaching bitcoin, until then, don't even bother, just continue enjoying being a pioneer and buy cheap coins.

It requires a lot of money to get a tv ad spot. And who is going to pay for it ?
I think the big bitcoin companies step in and have their ads aired, marketing their services as wells as promoting bitcoins too.
Or a better way to organize some event and get media's attention.
