Eos will be sub 1$ soon, there are more and more coins everyday without any product or prototype. By the time EOS releases there will be a lot of competition like NEO etc.

I think so, too. I think there's a big suppy, and it's likely to devalue very quickly.

yeah, could go below $1, perhaps,

world could end tomorrow too

there is a testnet coming out in September ,mid.

that might sway investor opinion

if seen against the others, only, it's a breakthrough.  The messaging in particular is a new approach.  An old approach in CS  ... but because of the UTXO state mindset never being challenged by people who'd learnt their trade within Bitcoin, it was not seriously tried in blockchain until Bitshares 2.0.

And that reveals it's not actually a breakthru - EOS is a progression of 4 steps:  Bitshares 1 -> Bitshares 2 == graphene -> Steem -> EOS.

each was a progression with improvements.  EOS adds arbitration and constitution to the Steem base.  These are things we've done before in CAcert, so we know they work in principle.  If we get to add in the CAcert  approach then seen together the governance thing will be radical.

So I think EOS is up there with the others in a big way.  The one that is most in trouble is Ethereum because it's stuck on its old codebase and its cutesy approach to everything - locked in to legacy baggage.  Whereas if BCC takes off and some of the things that CSW talks about take fruit, it could do a lot to repair the damage.

And Corda owns the finance world.  Ethereum was big in 2016 there, but that's all over now.  So Ethereum is facing a 3 fronts war.

whereas everyone else is just battling Ethereum

Sorry if this has already been covered in this thread, it's a long thread and search isn't helping...

What's the value in the current token? Both the site and whitepaper disclaimer that it's worthless.

From the whitepaper:

Quote
PLEASE NOTE: CRYPTOGRAPHIC TOKENS REFERRED TO IN THIS WHITE PAPER REFER TO CRYPTOGRAPHIC TOKENS ON A LAUNCHED BLOCKCHAIN THAT ADOPTS THE EOS.IO SOFTWARE. THEY DO NOT REFER TO THE ERC-20 COMPATIBLE TOKENS BEING DISTRIBUTED ON THE ETHEREUM BLOCKCHAIN IN CONNECTION WITH THE EOS TOKEN DISTRIBUTION.

So from what reasonable speculation is the value of the token derived?

These tokens will be exchanged for tokens of the EOS blockchain (when it will be launched in July 2018). And after that these "new tokens" will be used by the new platform.

Got it, so you don't know either. I did read, quite a bit here and on another forum, there are hints and vagaries about a token exchange, but nothing investable. Nothing officially sourced, just speculation... 24 pages of drivel.

If the supporters of this token expect others to invest to grow support, providing meaningful information to prospective investors shouldn't be such a labor. Guess i'll pass on this scam if your useless response is to be taken as an indication that this is just a circle-jerk token.

Thank you, is there an official source you can cite providing information on how this exchange will work? And the asset to be exchanged for?

You can find info at https://eos.io/faq.html - art. 19 & 21. This is a good place to start. After that try reading articles on EOS on https://steemit.com/. Here is a good article on registering your public key: https://steemit.com/eos/@sandwich/how-to-update-the-eos-public-key-mapped-registered-to-your-ethereum-wallet-with-myetherwallet-mew

Just claimed some tokens. The gas price and limit suggested by MetaMask resulted in 3 times failed 'claim' (but it nonetheless costs money). After the 4th time using upper limits, the claim went through. Bye bye $50 just for claiming some tokens.

This Ethereum thing is broken...

true.

Eth is broken and i dont understand why their community does not see through this.

For me, this confirms there is room for another blockchain to emerge and fill the number 2 spot in terms of market cap.

Imagin, ETH is $30 billion in market cap - even with all its problems! How valuable will a real functioning blockchain for dapps and ICOs and enterprises be?

$30 billion?

$50 billion?

In order to help mitigate the strain on our platform caused by recent exponential growth, we are delisting some of our illiquid trading pairs and temporarily suspending all advanced order types. These changes will go into effect on Tuesday, August 22 around 6 am UTC (Monday August 21 around 11 pm Pacific).

The following pairs will be delisted with all outstanding orders being canceled

you can instantly and pretty anonymously buy EOS (https://steemit.com/eos/@ash/buy-eos-instantly-for-bitcoin-50-altcoins-and-creditcard) no need to go through the smartcontract hassle

I'm assuming XBT/EOS & ETH/EOS will still be trading... so don't really see this as an issue.

6,000. And note that there was user error involved  Grin But I am of the opinion that fees proposed by the ETH system should render a transaction, not a (paid) failure with the user left to his own devices.
