Why exactly so big ico doesnt have official thread on bitcointalk.org?
I'm not sure. Dan hasn't come here since the early Bitshares days though. I think he got frustrated with the closed mindedness of these forums. That was back when pretty much all of the forums considered anything that wasn't Bitcoin a scam. It is looking like this will be the biggest ICO in history. They already raised $64,472,760 ... Yes this number is insane, however I have a feeling that when hype will end then we will have better deal to buy days later. Btw. From what I understand tokens will be avaliable to trade before ICO ends yep? If so this will be very weird. Yes, tokens will be available to trade on Bitfinex on July 1st: https://www.bitfinex.com/posts/208If so then price for people that bought during first 5 days will fall. Smarter money will come in days later. This looks like repeat of Bancor crowdsale but on a much larger scale. ICO prices were too high compared to exchange trading prices. It's not even the fault of these ICO's, the public is throwing millions of dollars on them for just a whitepaper and dream vision. Why should they care if they are getting free money so easily. They can earn more, bringing project to reality. Question always is, whether they want more or not

I'm confused about the distribution, why the hell would someone participate in PERIOD 0 when they can select like PERIOD 3 and get a much lower effective price? Am I dumb?

You can find the formula above in this thread. The way it works is the window closes, and the amount of etherum invested during the window and the amount of people investing decide the price of 1 token and distribute it accordingly. So now that 235k of etherum is invested in period #0 and the price is 00.12 you get around 800 tokens for 1 etherum. That said 235k of etherum is an insane amount, but if you look at other periods they distribute daily only 1% of the first period #0. For the other periods to have the same price per token as the first one, there has to be only 2000 etherum invested. Period #0 got 235k in 2-3 days. You don't even have to be that big of a shark to manipulate the other periods, 2k eth is big but a lot of investors can handle it.

I just read the white paper.
It does not provide a good technical explanation of how it will process in parallel and how it will process millions of transactions per second.
Does anyone understand how they will be able to do this?

I don't think anyone really does, and I don't think any of the major (or minor) investors truly do. What is surprising is given the performance of Steem and Bitshares after their respective launches, people aren't learning their lessons. Or maybe they all are willing to hold out for the same periods. Can't say.

Are you saying the performances of Steem and Bitshares were poor? How so? Their market caps seem to be doing well. Dan claims that the combined traffic/transactions of Steem and Bitshares surpasses Bitcoin and Ethereum. What I'm really curious about is the ability to do parallel processing and processing millions of transactions per second. Parallel processing on a single computer is difficult to do, even for Microsoft, which has thousands of programmers. I would imagine that this would be an order of magnitude more difficult to do on distributed nodes. This has never been done before. It's not like emulating how UNIX did parallel processing into Windows. I don't know how a small team can pull this off. And there is no good explanation of how they can do this on the white paper. Am I missing something here?

Bitshares and steem are semi-centralised. And the likes on steem count as transactions. DPoS can scale better because it is centralised, but it's a naive pos where it can be much easier attacked.

Anyone investing now is hedging on a 400+ day long scam but gotta hand it to him, DL thought thru the game theory. This strategy puts daily "blocks" of 2M EOS up for grabs.
I don't see early investors profiting on the initial 200M EOS. Quick math to show why:
2 million ETH raised for initial 200M EOS - beginning trades at 0.01 200K ETH raised, EOS trades at 0.001 Currently at 400K ETH raise, EOS trades at 0.005
Any day after tomorrow for the next 400+ days, every day!:
20K ETH raised, EOS trades at 0.01 4K ETH raised, EOS trades at 0.005 - today's value.
4K ETH * 400 days = 1,600,000 ETH ($480M @ $300/ETH) Market cap valuation of $1B = 8K ETH avg invested/day
Value on Bitfinex and other exchanges will drive daily sales (incentivize like blocks) but all investments in EOS smart contract go to DL, the king of the pyramid. Smiley
Invest wisely guys.

Hi, I just wanted to know when using the EOS token distribution APP on the website. I see that I can choose which period to put ether in. Does that mean I can put ether in a different period and I will receive tokens when that period is closed? If so can I go ahead and put ether into that period right now or do I have to wait for that period to begin. I'm confused because there is a drop down box in the contribution period section. Can someone help me clarify this. Thank you.

Currently at 400K ETH raise, EOS trades at 0.005
Any day after tomorrow for the next 400+ days, every day!:
20K ETH raised, EOS trades at 0.01 4K ETH raised, EOS trades at 0.005 - today's value.
4K ETH * 400 days = 1,600,000 ETH ($480M @ $300/ETH) Market cap valuation of $1B = 8K ETH avg invested/day
If they sell 200,000,000 EOS Tokens for 400,000 ETH, then the price is 0.002 ETH per EOS Token. They're selling 2,000,000 EOS Tokens per day after the first round. If they take in 4K ETH per day, then the selling price is 0.002 ETH per EOS Token. If they have a total circulation of 1,000,000,000 EOS Tokens, then the market cap valuation is 2,000,000 ETH (one billion X 0.002 ETH per token) or $600,000,000 (if ETH = $300). That's still a very high market cap for an ICO. They don't give a good explanation of how they're going to do parallel processing, which I think will be incredibly difficult to do over remote, distributed nodes. I think the odds are stacked against them, so this will be a major feat if they can pull it off. Maybe they can with the $70 million that they raised already, by hiring a large team of crack programmers. Even then, it won't be easy.
