Just curious, since the Internet is mostly an Earthly thing... would astronauts be able to access and transfer their Bitcoins whilst traveling throughout the solar system?
With the current level of development, Bitcoin will become a future currency. It can be said that today in addition to the leading coins in the world there are many other currencies are taking the market as well as Bitcoins ability will soon be put into the international money.

Don't really know much about space technology but understands that satellites that has enabled science and technology are all launched into space from where signals are received here on earth. If be true, then bitcoin transaction on space is possible.

The campaign Blockstream at the end of last year carried out the first transaction bitcoin in space. Currently, the Blockstream Satellite system covers two-thirds of the planet's territory and by the end of this year it is supposed to provide access to work with crypto currency using the service anywhere in the world.

"Bitcoin to the Moon" once became global trend in the forum and other currency sites. Bitcoin is now using as a currency in other countries as there alternative money. If it is possible to be used in space it would affect its value and amount because the cashing out and processing will be so fast. It is like the evolution of signal from radio wave to space signal. As on my opinion using Bitcoin is space is possible because it is now used in other countries they must be or maybe in the near future cryptocurrencies or Bitcoin will be sent into the space to improve the marketing system and other things about the market.

Any communications including internet is limited to radio or other frequency travel speed in space which is speed of light. One has to include the travel speed in one direction and other. To answer your question, yes it can be used but it depends how far you are from earth - how long it will take to make a transaction.

As long as there is internet connection, they can use bitcoin. But what in the planet will an astronaut use bitcoin? They're doing their job up there and don't have time for this. I think this curiosity is definitely out of this world.

I think it could be used in space. Because bitcoin transactions can be done anywhere. Just set up internet connection of course bitcoin transactions can be done.

Astronauts have is a good paying job already and I don't think they'll be needing it. but to answer the question while travelling throughout the solar system is kind of impossible unless there would be satellite dishes that could transmit data to another. Maybe another lifeform uses the same type of communication technology as we do.

I think it could be used in space. Because bitcoin transactions can be done anywhere. Just set up internet connection of course bitcoin transactions can be done. No need for an internet connection, there is always the option of an off-chain transaction. In space, why not? Two Astronauts (or Cosmonauts, for our Russian members) Alice and Bob travel throughout the universe. Both keep a copy of their private key as a paper wallet with them. Let's say Alice has 10 paper wallets each one bitcoin. And Bob has the same. Then they can exchange their paper wallets, like paper cash. Back to earth they import their exchanged private keys to a bitcoin client and can access both their bitcoins. The only problem occurs physically when Alice and Bob have traveled with light speed. Then it's likely that bitcoin doesn't exist anymore on planet earth when both come back (see Einstein's special theory of relativity). Btw a question to explain an off-chain transaction.

There is a possibility that astronauts can do it if they have internet connection in space. They can forward bitcoin-related transactions even if they are on earth but there are things that the astronauts do in outer space, so they may not have time to do other work on bitcoin.

That is definitely NO. Bitcoin can not be used in outer space because there is no signal there. This is impossible to happen that, because in outer space has no internet and Bitcoin will be moved by the help of internet. So probably, my answer is a big NO.

I am also just wandering will astronauts need bitcoin or other money in their travelling through the Universe?
Yes i agree in this sarcasm because you are an astronaut so whats the point of having a bitcoin in space because there are no stores or other establishments there that will need money for you to spend. Because that is space and everything you eat and you do is free because the nasa for example will pay that. So technically you do not need bitcoin in the first place. But if there are an internet connection there abosulutely yes it can be access but if there are no then not at all. But there are some offline wallets but as what ive said you do no need that

Yes, since they can access the internet in the space though I doubt they would want to use it there for anything since most space missions have provided them all the things they need. But if ever by any chance space travel would be normal just like visiting other country then I think bitcoin would be a good mode of payment in the space.

This is new. I have not known bitcoin can circulate in space. Bitcoin requires a networked computer. And it can carry transactions all over the world from one place to another.

bitcoin can be used anywhere, even in outer space. of course with 1 condition, namely the existence of internet connection. which is the question is whether outer space available internet connection that is connected to the earth internet network?
