Question: seeing majority of miner voting for SW2x, haven't core's and UASF nerd's  fears of centralization driven miners to finally collude and now ending up in a perfect centralization, but against core and exact their fears??

 Huh

Looks like F2pool did not want to collude fully, so they are getting a ddos attack to learn it?

Segwit is the best possible update Bitcoin can have, followed later by a hf. After that sidechains, that will make Bitcoin mainstream.

...because they do not want to even attempt to work within existing systems and constantly engaged in threats and gamesmanship that attempt to exploit ways to scare people into their view....
That comes from all sides (even the pro-Core).
Do you* think it's a coincidence that the whole "Antbleed" thing (which no one thought was a thing when it was in the bajillion running S7s) became a thing in April (when all of this started "heating up")?
Do you think it's a coincidence that the whole "covert ASICBoost" thing became a thing around the same time (when all of this started "heating up")?
Do you think it's a coincidence that no one worried about the whole "covert ASICBoost" thing when Bitmain introduced the S9 and, literally, advertised that S9s were "ASICBoost ready"?
Do you think it's a coincidence that now that certain parties need to make Bitmain out to be the "bad guy", you can't read a thread without seeing "Bitmain ....covert ASICBoost"?
Do you think it's a coincidence that not one pool, other than Bitmain, has been accused of "covert ASICBoost" (even though Bitmain's patent covers production and anyone can purchase pool-side usage rights and perform "covert ASICBoost")?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not pro-Bitmain; however, I am pro-honesty and it's honestly disingenuous to ignore the fact that Bitmain has been the target of well timed, well planned "gamesmanship" attacks from the Core/pro-Core end of the spectrum.

It is not just Bitmain & co. There is too much anti-china going on, which i suspect it is down to envy because they have cheap electricity. It's weird that envy is common on this forum when libertarians generally don't do envy, socialists do.

One by one the pools are starting to solve BIP91 blocks so there is no sign of any of them pulling out now. This of course doesn't mean they're running the btc1 branch as there is a popular BIP91 only branch available too that has only the segwit component of segwit2x...

That would bring a tear of joy to my eyes! If we can have just SegWit without the hard fork it would be amazing. Then later on if _EVERYONE_ is on board with a hard fork without any drama I'm cool with that. BUT it would have to have the support of the Bitcoin Core team.

Why??

Can't the socialists sheep decide for themselves, without appealing to authority to a bunch of developers that allowed the "civil war" to erupt in the first place.

And why is the hard fork may I ask? For the block size increase? Nobody will support that thing. If a hard fork happens to create a bigger block bitcoin, it will be an altcoin. They better start a new alt with the desired specs instead. They may even premine it till they

Not if all the miners are forced over to SegWit2x weeks ahead of the planned hard fork so that when the hard fork happens those who are on the original client get stalled where it takes all day to find a block with just a hand full of miners being on the old chain. That's why I think if SegWit2x happens we'll eventually end up with two separate chains, and it'll take some time for people to start mining the old chain again. Oh and the possibility exists for the forces behind SegWit2x to sabotage the old chain easily since almost all mining power will have left the chain a 51% attack will be very easy. They just need to sabotage it for a while until everyone updates their clients to SegWit2x.

Unfortunately if you control 51% of mining power you can freeze the network and have a lot of power over it. It's been talked about since the beginning and now it may be happening for real.

Uhhh no! They do not have the cheapest electricity. They have a nearly unlimited supply of cheap human labor (slave labor perhaps), lack of regulation, centralized government control, disrespect for human rights, no business culture, copy and counterfeit everything under the sun, corruption at all levels of society....shall I go on?

The Chinese don't give a shit about bitcoin on an ideological level. For them it's just another money making tool used as part of their great national get rich or die trying campaign. The antics of Jihan and Co. (he really should start his own bank and call it that, then he can be the next Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, etc) proves that they will do whatever is necessary to secure their economic success even if it means that his actions will hurt other bitcoin users!

So if it seems that there may be some "anti-China" going on, do you not perhaps think that some of it is rightfully deserved? It's not about hate it's just being 100% honest and real about things. It's kind of ironic that the hardware to secure the world's best example of a decentralized monetary system is being built in a country with a strong centralized control. Oh Universe, you are not without your weird sense of humour.

I don't know if they can. If you are arguing that Core failed from a leadership perspective you're not going to get any argument against that from me. This civil war should not have happened in the first place. Core is comprised of a bunch of coders. Do we really expect them to be great communicators and leaders as well. Some of your of course would not even expect a strong and united core right? I mean decentralization and all that good stuff, right? This is a complex human psychology and sociology issue and I think if we get started on this topic we're going to veer waaaaay off-course from the thread's topic.

I really avoided thinking about these problems until now because, well, bitcoin has largely remained the same since it was first a baby in Satoshi's mind. But now I have to squeeze my brain lemon extra hard. After all this drama I think I could use a bit of vodka in that lemon juice  Cheesy

Sure, that seems like a ray of reason and hope, and so if 80% of the segwit only version of BIP91 signals then we likely get segwit soon thereafter.. and even if all problems are NOT resolved, it seems that there would be quite a bit less ambiguity.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

...The point is that everyone gets a part of what they want, but not entirely 100% what _they_ and only they want.
Those are opposing views Core will only support a thing if Core wants 100% of that thing.  Undecided

Genuine question: Can somebody explain what the problem is?

I thought far above 80% had announced to support SegWit2x already. So it seems like everything will go smoothly, and the problem will be solved soon.

I'm not a newbie, but I don't understand the fine print here. And I'm sure a lot less knowledgeable people are reading this. So maybe one of you super-educated bitcoiners could explain.
Allow me to paraphrase Luke Dashjr and confuse you even more Tongue :
People are only pushing for SegWit2x, and the early adoption of SegWit, in order to delay the adoption of SegWit.  Roll Eyes

Let me explaineded (sic) it to you.

There is a difference between signaling an intention to signal and actually signaling the thingie-ma-jiggie that you had stated that you had intended to signal.

Much like there's a difference between seeing that people want the thingie-ma-jiggie and giving them the thingie-ma-jiggie or seeing that people want the thingie-ma-jiggie and saying that them wanting the thingie-ma-jiggie is just to delay themselves from getting the thingie-ma-jiggie.  Roll Eyes

He is right, you clearly dont understand what Blockchain is. Blockchain can do a lot more things than just Bitcoin Undecided

Bitcoin cannot go mainstream with just bigger blocks. As for the HF part, i rather see Core handles that HF because they can deliver a save landing HF.
