WOW. massive 10k work unit just completed by Mashrinx!!
Donor MashRinx Team Cryptocoin Network (224497) Score 10014 (certificate) Donor Rank 416791 of 1687520 WU 2 (certificate) Date of last work unit 2013-05-03 11:13:34 Active clients (within 50 days) 1 Active clients (within 7 days) 1
message me your ftc address so i can sen you bounty for being in first five to pass 2000 points. not just passed it but blew it away!!
that bumped up our rank nicely. Team Ranking (incl. aggregate) 33167 of 218096
not bad considering everyone just started joining me roughly 12 hours ago on this project.
i have another 9k points of work units running on 3 pc's. running 5850, gtx 550, and a dual core cpu @ 2.9ghz.
still mining on the 5850 and folding at the same time.

I really like this idea a lot!! I used to have Stanford, Find-a-drug and Boinc certificates on my wall.
I will dedicate all my hashing power to Folding@Home tonight under the crypto team id!

has anyone else yet tried getting any results about mining and folding at the same time. On amd cards this works great. if someone else could confirm mining and folding with out much lost speed in mining i think more people would give it a shot.

I don't want to slow down the processing power on work units. Consequently, I am not doing this for FC or anything else... other than I want Stanford to see some rallying power!

Nevermind. Just figured out they don't support GPU folding on the linux client (in spite of the option being there). I am not going to install Windows for this.

that message means that your card is not in the whitelist for folding. 3000 and 4000 series amd are no longer supporter for example. some brand new cards take time to get on the list too.
when work units are assigned it is based on what hardware you have. on my 7850 i get work units worth 2224 points. on gtx 550 you will get a work unit worth about 4000 points. its all based on what the benchmark system determines to be about 6 hours of work (initially the target was 1 or 2 days i think, but newer hardware is changing that)
what gpu did u use?
ok, just seen you are using linux. Use wine or a virtual machine with windows to get your gpu going.

7950. Virtual machine wouldnt work since then id have to figure out a way to get PCI-e pass thru to the VM. Not sure if its possible. Even if possible, my setup wont support it cause it would surely depend on intel VT and i have ancient CPU. That and i wont touch windows, even if it cures cancer. The wine instructions all seem to be for Nvidia... and the thought of using wine scares me.

i wont touch windows, even if it cures cancer. amusing level of dedication to linux... kinda morbid... Next round of bonuses coming out - Friecoins + PPC and TRC !Im going to make some random bonuses and fixed bonuses. Highest points a week from now - 10 Freicoins. (maybe more, no less) Highest points a month from now - 40 Freicoins. (maybe more, no less) Each new member can post your Friecoin address to receive 1 coin just for signing up and doing one work unit. Random bonuses of 1-10 TRC PPC and FRC will be awarded for the next week. Id like to be able to offer a lot more, but im not crypto rich If anyone wants to chip in on bonuses and directly send coins to users in the "Cryptocoin Network" team, please post a bounty / reward and its specifications to earn it. If you trust me enough to distribute some coins ill post exactly how many coins were donated by who, and how those coins get rewarded. Not doing this for money. its mostly to feed a never ending need to do interesting stuff. although i would not turn down an offer of donation to myself if you think im worth encouraging I could use some feedback on what people think is a fair reward to try folding out. Even though something is better than nothing right? There is more bonuses to come, user feedback and turnout will determine what comes next.

I am sure there are flags to play around with but the hash rate is all over... my max was usually 125khash.... but with both running we are seeing it jump all over.... that and F@H takes a huge hit as well. Ive noticed weird calculations with my amd card compared to nvidia. the nvidia is constant for folding. The amd jumps all over on speed estimate even when im not mining... i keep retesting it must have done it 20x times now. What looks like a hit to folding power i think might just be the software needing a little more coding to make amd estimates accurate. Even when my PPD dips down to 300 instead of 4k, the progress bar still moves at the same rate. The overall time the WU takes also seems to stick with the time it estimates when its displays full speed. Ill be fiddling with this a lot more.

Yeah I am not sure on a lot of stuff yet because I been out of the game for a few years. Odd that you would need to move it to full in order to get it to start on the GPU... of course I am sure there are flags to lessen the intensity of F@H in order to make room for other activities on the GPU... My computer really does not lag all the much with F@H... Ill PM you my FC addy too.

Awesome! sent you a message. If you would like to choose the next bounty go ahead and post it.
The next bounties i had in mind are designed to get people dedicated to showing the folding network what the "Cryptocoin Network" can do in terms of quick results due to the custom rigs lots of miners use.
The first bounties were easy... maybe too easy lol. well worth it though, im sure someone had fun racing to spot #1.
Next bounty might be something like first person to 100k points gets 100 coins, and every person to hit 100k after that gets 50.
im still trying to measure the time one puts in to get the points compared to the time it takes to mine coins with the same hardware.
This is a great chance for Nvidia owners to get crypto prizes. calling all nvidia miners... try out folding .. your speed will boost the team a lot!
Someone with 4x nvidia card could hit 100k easy.

Sorry for reading this quickly. Is this automated or manually distributed coins?
Hopefully the foundation as it forms at FRC can come here observe and hopefully if there was some sort of client or app that could be open source and forked from Github more people could become "faucets" or if you can set this up more as a P2P set up then there would be no need to have one person or group doing the distributions.
I will be putting some the PC at home into this. Thanks for this!
I WANT TO CURE CANCER IN THE NAME OF FREICOIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bicknellski.freico.in go Cryptocoin Network
Not sure how to join the team but I put in the team number on the client page.
