7 days ago we've created Electrum plugin. No response yet.

No worries, here is Telegram bot:

What does it do?
Allows you to use ChipMixer with Telegram chat client.

Is it private?
No. Here is quick list of who gets what of your private information:

Telegram owner:
- all the data - addreses, private keys

ChipMixer:
- we don't get your phone number or your ip
- but we can link all of your sessions (not that we do that)

Any strong points of bot?
1. Easy to use, especially on mobile phone.
2. Every time you start a session, you save recovery link.

This is not our main product but since we've had API for Electrum plugin ready, we did it as proof of concept. We are looking for feedback.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

This is a nice handy little tool.

However, what's the point of using a bitcoin mixer if Telegram can get all your information, private keys, etc.? Sure, telegram is one of the best messengers out there in terms of their usability as well as them encrypting every message, but there is always a possibility that the company does something against their privacy policy due to a court order or something like that.

I mean, using chipmixer even on telegram is definitely going to get you better anonymity than if you just sent the bitcoin yourself. Even if telegram does get your info, it'll be harder for them to trace and that's considering that they have interests in your activity anyways. But that shouldn't happen.

Great work devs!

That is a very nice add on of Telegram into ChipMixer, I believe there are a lot of bitcoin users using Telegram too, with this new update, it would gives users much convenience to mix their bitcoins using a mobile phone. I guess I would give it a try mixing some of my bitcoins from my mobile phone later  Smiley

Just noticed the trolling on the reddit thread, though being reddit, this was to be expected 100% from people who've never really had the knowledge of or need to using mixers.

I wonder if one of those so-called tracking companies has tried tracking ChipMixer transactions?

You mind linking all of us to the actual trolling? I've seen some constructive criticism regarding Chipmixer but haven't seen any sort of legitimate attempt at trolling, at least, yet.

Hmm, it would be very very hard for them to do. What kind of tracking company are you referring to here? Most tracking companies track your identity online, your IP address, etc. Haven't really seen any try to track where bitcoin is heading. Do you mean sites like walletexplorer.com? Then i'm 100% certain that mixing your coins with chipmixer will avoid any sort of detection on that site.

Anyways, telegram bot looks awesome, keep it up.

Agreed. It is hard to achieve perfect privacy. Usually you have to trust somebody with some information. For example with Tor network non-onion addresses, you trust that entry and exit node do not have the same owner.

If you are casual about keeping privacy, you may use ChipMixer bot. We prefer Electrum plugin, which offers much higher privacy, but it is harder to install.

I will be using the mixer soon. For privacy reasons, once I use it, I'll let some time pass before coming back and updating the post with my thoughts on the mixer. I don't personally use Electrum, so I cannot give any feedback on it. If I get the chance, however, I will try out the Telegram bot and report back on how smooth it goes. I admit I am surprised by the responsiveness and the development speed of the devs of this project. The interaction with the community is one of the reasons why I happen to trust this more than other projects going around.

The signature campaign posters adding useless redundant fluff to their posts to reach their minimum word count are lowering my IQ.

this is definitely one of the smarter ways to mix your BTC, even with 0.001 minimum, personally don't see a need to mix less than $3 USD or 20 krone. and with them not taking any fee off the top, relying solely on donations, its definitely one of the better things to put your money towards, if you're trying to mix BTC.

Suppose by mistake if we clear the browser cookies after sending coins, is there any way to recover back our coins or it's gone permanently?

I never use any mixing services like this so just want to clarify before sending coins.

To my understanding it is crucial that you don't do that, as you'll have a high probability of losing your coins. It's okay if you do that before you deposit any funds into it but if you already deposited coins into the mixing process then you're screwed.

If you are mixing high amounts then save the link that Chipmixer provides you when you open a new session. That way you're safe. I found though that when you click on the link it redirects to a default link that says session restored(https://chipmixer.com/session/step1), and you can only copy the session link when it's loading. It could be possible that someone copies down the redirected link thinking that they've got down the actual session link and lose btc as a result. So chipmixer, please try to fix this.

Either way, the chance of this happening is very low if you have a good browser installed and a stable connection to the internet. No need to fret too much.

Thanks for the detailed post. It is good that they are providing some options to recover in case something goes wrong. No one will do purposefully but sometimes we don't know so if we have a option to recover then it gives more confidence about the system to use.

It really is a good way of enhancing your privacy and most of those who use this have a huge amount of Bitcoin and might as well they consider to being generous as a sign of gratitude to the successful mixing of their Bitcoins since they didn't charge you any fee or whatever. Just a donation will help them in return for their services even if it is not that much.

Would mixing my coins help me out with eliminating high transactions costs in the future?
No. If you think that transaction cost will get higher and higher, send all your funds into one address with one transaction. This is the cheapest solution but also the least private.

I meant in the aspect of having a lot of dusty inputs, thus raising the total byte size of the transaction itself. For example, let's say I have 0.01BTC in my address that I accrued over 20 transactions at 0.0005 each. Essentially, if I were to mix the 0.01, wouldn't transactions in the future have a smaller transaction size than if I were to spend the 0.01 from my wallet without mixing the coins?

It could, but a large point of Chipmixer is that you don't do it as simply as that and instead split it into chips with predefined values instead of just spending 0.01, receiving 0.01.

Regardless, this is just speculation about future transaction costs.  By doing this you have to assume that transaction costs in the future will be higher, because you're relying on all of the coins you could spend + the transactions you actually make with 1 input ending up costing less than just sending ordinary transactions.

Just noticed the trolling on the reddit thread, though being reddit, this was to be expected 100% from people who've never really had the knowledge of or need to using mixers.

I wonder if one of those so-called tracking companies has tried tracking ChipMixer transactions?

Well, Reddit is Reddit so we might as well shrug all the trolling happening in there. For me, that can still be a good publicity as we are aiming for people to be talking about ChipMixer inorder to stimulate the intended market. The most important thing is that there is always that good opportunity to present your side of the story to balance things out. Someone then can supply them facts about ChipMixer to make things fair.

The most important thing is that there is always that good opportunity to present your side of the story to balance things out. Someone then can supply them facts about ChipMixer to make things fair.

The opinions of those who don't know the purposes of mixers thinking that the use of it is only for the bad people to get away with the thing they did is of no value since it is not the only purpose because it can also provide a better security against bad guys or whatever. Here are some uses of mixers:

ChipMixer's pre-funded chips and balance holding model makes using bitcoin (or any coin) mixers more approachable and useful for mainstream businesses. In fact, if more press got out on how this service can benefit different industries we could see this new approach to an old service contributing to general adoption of bitcoin.

Here's a few examples of how ChipMixer's approach can help any community:
  • Charitable donations, particularly those of a large size where the donator wants aboslute anonymity; All the charity needs to do is set up a ChipMixer account
  • Political campaign funding, where the competition between parties/candidates may lead to keeping their funding available for the campaign a secret

What other examples do you all have?

Mixers enable people to provide security through anonymity that is making it untraceable and hide their real identity to eliminate threats. Like Bitcoin, it can be used either good or bad, legal or illegally which really depends on the beholder.

Essentially, if I were to mix the 0.01, wouldn't transactions in the future have a smaller transaction size than if I were to spend the 0.01 from my wallet without mixing the coins?

You would have to send the bitcoins to Chipmixer in the first place, no? Even if you're using an Electrum plugin or a telegram bot this still has to be done. Chipmixer can't just take your private key and give you chips in return, as that would mean that you would be in control of both your own private keys and the post-mixed keys, making both accessible to you, and essentially you could "double-spend" the funds after mixing.

So if you had 20 inputs of 0.0005 BTC each, you'd have to pay a pretty big fee to get it sent to Chipmixer before anything happens. That wouldn't make sense to do.

Plus, you will be getting 0.008 BTC + 0.002 BTC, so two inputs back. If you want to save fees because you think in the future fees will absolutely skyrocket with large transaction sizes then the logical thing to do is to send a transaction to a wallet that you control directly, so that your 20 inputs become one. Unless i'm missing something here, in which case, please clarify and let me know what you actually meant.

Great concept, and having it in telegram in my opinion makes the mixing process a lot more accessible and easier to understand than most other bitcoin mixers that are out there. Obviously people that are using this telegram bot instead of the actual TOR site/website will be compromising on their privacy here, but i think the main point of this product is to get people used to the process instead of anything that is aimed at the privacy-centric individuals.

I was wondering, how many devs have you got working on this service? Because you guys seem like a machine at times, just pumping out new programs day and night. You guys rock Cheesy

It's obviously about privacy-centric individuals.  It's a mixer, that's what they do.

There's a distinction between privacy-centric individuals and criminals.  A privacy centric individual could be a rich person who doesn't want to reveal the funds in their address, for example.  A criminal would want to avoid anything which could potentially result in them getting traced.  This includes telegram bots.

If it really matters, people will not use it because they're not idiots when they're talking about large sums of money.  When it matters less, Telegram is fine.  It's not like they could access your funds.

There's a distinction between privacy-centric individuals and criminals.
Sadly, governments does not see this distinction. When they buy software to track criminals on blockchain, they get software to track citizens for free. So they extend crime into "unregulated gambling" and soon ICOs and undeclared cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin mixing is not about being a criminal. It's about being educated citizen.
