With the martial law in effect in Mindanao the terror brought by this terrorist group will be put to end. The whole island of mindanao is in lockdown to avoid the terrorist going out. This is a special strategy so that the terrorist cannot escape and cannot regroup and strengthen its number and power. The only negative impact of this kind of anti-terrorism activities is that people will have to suffer so that they can enjoy peace and safety in a long run.

I wouldn't worry as much. You'll never be in quite the mess Syria is in, since Syria is a crossing point for the interests of too many countries. Not only there's easy access for jihadists from all over the world to get there, but also Russia has military bases, which automatically makes the US want to topple over the Syrian government by civil war and the Russians willing to support Assad to protect their interests.

The Philippines are island located, which means it will be harder for terrorists to receive reinforcements. Also no Russian bases are present, so no motive for conflict there either.

They won't be! Most of the time these groups succeed because of a lack of strong leadership to oppose them. You have the right man for the job - Rodrigo Duterte. Aside from the occasional terrorist attack with several civilian casualties they can't hope to achieve much more.

The issue of terrorism is something that if it will end will take a long time because the cause of it to the best if my knowledge is fundamental which is going back to the basics of the teachings people get to engage in it in the first place because at the point where people have the thinking that they can fight against the forces of government with all the arms and ammunitions in the armoury of a country, and they are ready to die to achieve that, then its no longer a child's play. In this case, since its fairly new in Philippines, if its cut off immediately to the root, it will take a while before they regroup and enlightment on the part of government so that people won't go back to join under the guise of  fighting injustice.

It is temporarily not. Duterte a few months ago hinted at the fact that Russians will always be able to use the territory of the Philippines for its Navy. What is this if not an attempt to negotiate with the Russians. Where Russian there is always no stability. Religion have nothing to do with terrorism. Terrorists used by politicians to achieve their goals, and religion is only a way to find people who easily succumb to propaganda.

Well i guess there will always be a groups of people that does not agree with other people way of life or thinking. And there it all begins. Muslim fanatics are the worst of all people i guess, in middle ages that was Catholics, and today are the Muslims. I do not say that all Muslims are same, but worst fanatics are from that religion. I think that terrorism will go to minimum in future, but it will never stop... sadly.

They can try to turn us to Syria but we won't go down without a fight. We won't be like those Muslims "fleeing" to Europe while the Yazidis and Christians are left behind to fend for and protect themselves while ISIS advances. Three empires has come and gone, we can take on terrorists. Besides, it's not like people here can flee easily. We don't have land borders with our neighbors, remember?

Humans, being the warmongering bunch they are, will always find a way to piss of each other. If it's not religion, it's definitely gonna be ethnicity. I can take that better though. When someone argues a certain group of people are better so and so, you can ask them data. School records, DNA samples, etc. When some says he's got a better sky daddy than you (or that he was more obedient to your own sky daddy), there's no way to refute or prove that.

It's a never ending cycle of hatred, sometimes leading to a sort of counter-terrorism in which both sides are basically just attacking each other with weak political objectives which slowly fail due to their meaningless anger.

The reason why it's hard to stop ISIS is because they aren't single military force, of course they can bomb their headquarters but that won't get them anywhere. What I mean by that is you can see the suicide bombers and stuff, let's put it like this, there is at least one suicide bomber in 10.000 people(for example), therefore it's really hard to track them down or get rid of them all at the same time, hence why ISIS can't disappear overnight, and they need them for oil too so yeah.

Duertete  or whatever his name is should deal with this problem before killing drug dealers who can be eventually reformed. I don't think Terrorism is going to end soon, there is always someone out there who feels aggravated by something and always to do something about it.

Short answer is no, it will not end anytime soon. Violence is quite efficient way to further political goals.

Long answer goes all the way back to the concept of first sin. All human beings were gifted with free will to find their own way to salvation, BUT also to commit evil if they decide for it. We may eventually call terrorism by different name, but it will never go completely away as long as there are human beings. Every generation will need to face its challenges, fight between good and evil. It is part of our nature.

However, I dont believe Phillipines in particular will become anything like Syria in near future. That particular conflict was inflamed from the outside and found support among local sunni Arabs, who make up half of entire population. In your country, I believe, there are how many? Maybe 6% of sunnis? All of them concentrated in the south and big cities.
