How would you judge if someone refuse to use escrow his reason ro refuse is that 20$ is a small amount of money.

I am cautious because people here will try to scam 0.01$ if they get the oportuinity

If whoever you are trading with have a small rank like newbie or junior member then I wouldn't trust him or trade with him. If he is a Senior member or above, then I could trade with him If he don't have previous scam accusations or negative trust, because usually the account is worth more then 20$ . So, he wouldn't risk his account for that little amount of cash.

I would say don't do the trade. If you really want to be safe use escrow. If you want to take a chance then you certainly can, it is up to you.

How bad will you feel if you get scammed 20 bucks? Know that you won't be able to get it back. And reporting and getting him banned likely won't matter as people can use proxy servers to make new accounts.

When in doubt, don't do it! Typically if your gut says don't do it, you are normally right.

He is probably trying to scam you because of refusing to used an escrow. And eventhough its just $20 that you are saying a lot of scammers will likely take it. And believed me, there are hundreds here who have been scammed much lower than $20 because they trusted the other party. So you have every right to be cautious and try to used escrow so that you will prevent yourself from being scam. And if refuses, then don't do the trade, simple as that.

Agree, for $20 its safe to place trust based on rank of user. For bigger amounts always escrow.
Good luck!

Always assume everyone here is a scammer until proven otherwise. never trade anything without escrow, regardless of the user's status. accounts here are bought/sold/hacked on a daily basis. be extremely protective and careful. if you aren't, you will get scammed

Always deal with trusted members of this forum. Double check their trust profile in order to check if some recent changes to the email and or password and if you find this message you should be very careful. There are a lot of dark green trust members in the forum who deal even with that small amount of 20 dollars. You need to search more and not deal with the first trader you find in your way.
Anyone who refuses to use escrow is to be doubted at least.

Why would they do that? The amount is not worth to steal or to scam. Escrows are trusted here. They can't just scam you or steal your money because their account will be on a red mark which is avoiding by any members in this forum. That's a stupid move. If you have problem choosing escrows. Here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0
Hope it helps you finding good escrow.

It might be a 100% scam but his reactions are reasonable.
I see a no escrow recommendation, but not a escrow refusal.
The person that wants the deal more generally makes the first move.
In this case it would have been best for you to offer to set up and pay the escrow fee, provide id, risk the $20 (scary based on feedbacks) or simply move on.
Don't stress about it.   There will be other deals.

A more recent escrow list can be found here:

I don't know why he won't just go with the escrow. They don't take much fee and it really is worth it for that insurance.
Use an escrow that is well known. I know some scammers send you to a scam escrow.

I wouldn't risk the $20

It is advisable to use escrow always whatever the price to be trade is. If the other party refuse to use escrow then he is probably want to scam you. But if you do it here in the forum especially dealing to well-known and trusted members here you can ignore using the service because they don't have plan to scam just by sacrificing their high rank accounts.

$20...

First look at his rank. Is it "Newbie" and he refuses to go first or to use escrow? No deal.
Is he a "Jr. Member" or higher? Then look at his trust. If he got alot of positive feedback, which could actually be the case, as he would've been on the site for multiple weeks... If he doesn't have alot of positive feedback, and doesn't want to go first, nor use an escrow service? No deal.

Only if the person you want to deal with has alot of green feedback, then you should consider dealing with them. Please also take a look at his "Untrusted feedback", which doesn't show up on his profile page. I once got scammed because I didn't know that it existed..  Undecided

Bitcoin sector is full of spammers, due to the irreversible nature of the payments. In this forum, you can find thousands of threads dealing with scam accusations. That's why I always recommend an escrow, no matter how small the amount is. If the other party is averse to using an escrow, then please tell him to send the funds first.

@aadje93 is a big SCAMMER !
DEAL WITH CAUTION.
Please elaborate on that...

Whilst improving your post, please try answering the following questions:

What did aadje93 do to be a big scammer?
What is it that made you feel obligated to share this information with us on here?
Are you that scammer who is now not able to scam him the money, so you would now just accuse him of scamming, just because you're a pesky little petard?

Anyways, have fun! Cheesy
