I love how the mainstream media likes to play the crime card on Bitcoin. I always say, just LOOK AT CASH... Cash is much worse than bitcoin for crime, not just because its already the mainstream method of transferring value... It can be hidden, counterfeited, obfuscated even easier than bitcoin. Drug kinds love cash, but they crave bitcoin. I don't know why people are putting so much emphasis on this. Crime will exist in this world as long as humanity exists. And the medium really doesn't matter. As of now, the preferred medium is physical cash. Bitcoin is sometimes used for ransom and other purposes, but it is physical cash which is remaining supreme as of now. If you want to prevent crime, then target the criminals. Going after a medium of payment will not achieve anything.

We are on the same page. There are multiple aspects of this topic and the most dangerous I see is the direct attack on the goodwill of the bitcoin. Well, criminals use the currency whichever is convient to them and this time if it's bitcoin then what is the bitcoin's fault in it? Govenments and other international organisations might object the legalisation of bitcoin on this issue in my opinion.
I absolutely agree with you. I don't know why people will keep trying to tarnish the image of bitcoin by associating it everytime with fraudulent activities as if that was the basis of the innovation or as if crime wasn't existing before bitcoin even sufficed. It is a appalling! Sadly, it is our responsibility to find some solution on this as I don't think governments would tolerate these arguments based on common sense. It will affect the legal usage of bitcoin as the criminals will still keep using it under cover (i.e - TOR) even if there is a ban from the government. I hope regulators would focus more on the benefits of the bitcoin instead of such issues. |

Crime can be funded with anything: from cash,gold,silver to bitcoin. So all these methods can be hardly traced,not only bitcoin. I don't see any major reason why bitcoin price would decrease if it is used in crimes. Most surely us dollars are used in crimes daily and the price doesn't fall right?  I think it's normal when bitcoin is used as crime funded or other illegal activities. Because bitcoin is also money that has a price. And not just bitcoins used for illegal activities but as you say, cash, gold, silver are also used as tools. This is a public secret |

There is no solid proof with anyone saying that bitcoin is used for crimes but all of them are just the assumptions that the people randomly put in everything. There is a possibility that it can be used but we cannot say that bitcoin is responsible for the crimes because criminals and crimes were present before the invention of bitcoin. |

Crimes are not funded by bitcoin, people commit crimes. People have always committed crimes from the beginning of time since Cain killed Abel because he was jealous and there were no bitcoins then.
Financial crimes are more common with fiat, i.e - usd, yen and many more. Using bitcoins to receive shady payments does not mean the law cannot catch up to you.

Syndicates or any crime related groups do have access to web. It's not impossible if they are using bitcoin to pay their members to the specific tasks and to transact with any group. There are ways if they really wanted to do crime and to be anonymous. Bitcoin can be good and at the same bad, It depends only on how it will be used.

You are right, There is no sense when we said that bitcoin price would decrease because if it is used in crimes. Because peoples can use dollars or any real or digital currency for this things. Maybe bitcoin is most used for crimes, because it's more secure and anonymous. It used in darknet too. So killers would sure want to use it than other any currencies. It is very difficult to know the amount of money some criminals move in bitcoin, but I suppose that back in the day when bitcoin was just starting the percentage of most of the trading taking place was mostly illegal transactions but as bitcoin has become known for more people then the percentage of these transactions has diminished because there is more people doing legal trades in bitcoin. I think legal trades don't decrease the amount of illegal trades. Surely the number of legal trades increased a lot, but illegal trades increased as well. Bitcoin has the price it has today not only by the good people, but because the dark market over it too, we need to be aware about it. Bitcoin is used by the good and by the evil like fiat and like any other tradeable item. We just need to make sure we are using it for the good, otherwise there could be problems with authorities in real life. The proportion is what changes, if on total there are 10 trades and all of them are illegal then 100% of all the trades are illegal but if there are 100 trades and the number of illegal trades is 10 then even if the number of illegal trades has remained the same now only 10% of the trades are illegal, as you see, the more people use bitcoin the lesser the percentage of the total transactions that are illegal. |

Since Bitcoin was ever released, I've thought of the possibility of this. Will crimes be easily funded now due to bitcoin and it's anonymity? How do you think the authorities will combat this? Will this lead to a decline in the price of bitcoin? I've had this on my mind for a while now and I would like to hear your guys opinions.
All currency are liable for that because the currency is the one that is funded the illegal activity whether it is crypto or fiat because that's how real world works all kind of currency can use in illegal or legal but it is depends on you how you will look on it because the bitcoin is cruyptocurrency does not mean it is not use to illegal activity. |

Bitcoin, other altcoin and Fiat is used in illegal transaction. Authorities do some moves to prevent this happening but of course not all the crimes they can prevent. I think this will not lead to decline in the price of bitcoin. This is the reason why some country before not accepting bitcoin. |

Do you think people just happen to run into pedophilic pornography and that they somehow get sparked into...whatever? I don't think so. The idea of a coin created by the governments to catch criminals could be novel but at the end it is not going to work, since someone that checks the source code will immediately recognize the attempt to tracks its users, and if they try to hide the code by not being open source and being closed source then no one is going to use the coin because they are going to mistrust it. |

It is happening in the internet world. There is a virus in a form of an email. So be careful when you open your email. It would lock your phone or laptop or any gadgets together with an account. It would say that enable to use your account again you have to pay them with bitcoin. Authorities can't do anything with it. The only thing that we can do, is to observe and protect ourselves from those crime.
