Any update on the Klondike K1 Nano USB Bitcoin Miner's?
I expect to complete a final revision of the board in a couple days, and then order a batch for final testing. The K16 has been verified and this is based on that, uses same firmware and cgminer driver, which are working, though quite basic still. Once boards are ordered I'll have time to polish the code and get a bootloader added (which allows upgrading via USB).

For anyone planning to use the board design for their own project / products, note that I will be changing it to the QFN version of the PIC and the parts list will have some changes.

The K16 has been running quite well for me in testing. The HW error rate is still a bit high and I think some board changes planned will help with that.

Here for information on hashing testing of the chips in K1 and K16 configurations:

350 on K16 BKKCoins: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190731.msg2705473#msg2705473

Some data from Burnin's testing of his boards, may be useful for BKK. It seems that HW errors are not linear with frequency:

256 Mh/s versus 335 Mh/s for a USB block Erupter at the same price?  That doesn't seem competitive.

350+ for the K1. You are right BE aren't competitive since they can't OC.

And about k1 (v 0.1) You said that it is better to replace 74AUP1G02GW with a 74AUP2G02, but in last update of BOM for K1 at github NOR Gate is 74AUP1G02GW.  Which is better to install?
Thank You!
QFN and SS both perform the same. It depends which one you can get. The SS ran out a while ago and there was QFN until just a day or two ago. It could be a while before they are easy to find again.

I haven't updated the K1 files yet. The new board revision will use the 2G02 but it's not pin compatible so you can't place that on the old board.

Here's a brief list of changes I'm doing for the K1:

- replace NOR gate with DUAL NOR gate
- add Schmitt inverter package
- chg PIC to QFN
- add thermistor for temperature sensing
- add 2 holes for mounting a heat sink
- Make both LEDs flashable (tied to PIC pins)
- make I2C non-thru hole SMD header type pads
- use 2mm board thickness for USB compatibility
- specify an alternate reg and inductor allowing 3A power (not for USB 2.0 ports)

I'm part way thru this now but have been sidetracked today by work on the web store (which is up now but not tested yet). Yay!

And if you buy 10 or 50 it will be even better.

10 or more Ƀ0.89
50 or more Ƀ0.79

350 or better Mh/s and a price point at .79 or below for quantity might make sense.
They are not going to be as clean and compact as the Erupters so they are going to have to deliver more for less.

I thought that Open source was going to save us a bunch of money vs the Erupters.

Here's a quote from the Big Picture website:
-------
A percentage of revenue generated goes to BKKCoins who has spent months to bring the Klondike project to life. If you would like to support the open source hardware and software community this would be a great way to do so.We are so supportive of this project that even our own cooperative members have donated heat sinks, a IR temperature gun and bitcoin for the scope used by BKKCoins for testing as we believe strongly in supporting these sort of community based projects.

Another way to support the open source community would be to contribute to the creators, or contribute to the project yourself directly, instead of buying from those who would make exorbitant profit off the efforts of others.

Send BKKCoins some BTC to support OSS, and then buy boards from whomever gives you the best price per GH/s.  It's cheaper and just as honorable.

The K1 will be as compact clean as any BE.

As for the other commentary.

If want better prices than a BE then get into group buys. BKKCoins can't sell enough to make back his effort that is why others will take up the slack. The idea here is VOLUME. The prices are fair and that is all that needs to be said.

Might want to keep on topic for the thread right?

How isn't a K1 worth the same as the BE is beyond me. If they market finds the price too high it will find it too high. As I have stated in the other threads it is amazing that as soon as we posted our prices some of the group buy BE prices dropped to meet our prices. Sorry but again I am not sure what premium there is on a BE vs a K1 at this moment in time.

Moreover I find these sorts of post about GREED pretty disingenuous given the fact you can get a much lower price if you were to simply group buy...I guess that doesn't mean anything? Well it does. No matter the price BKKCoins will get the same royalty per board. I think there are some people posting here deliberately to cast our prices as some how predatory. They are far from that I would say that they are satoshi for satoshi the best ones right now given you enter into group buys. Simple as that.

How about we get back the thread now... K1 news is good looks like the upgrades that BKKCoins plans are right in line with the ability to oc the K1 given the right hubs. That is great news for everyone the DIYers and those of use selling K1s as it puts this unit at par with the other offerings in the market currently.

I was not aware that BKK was getting a percentage of every sale.

Probably something real generous like 5-10%?!?

he deserves it!!

He sets the royalty per board and we honor that as should everyone who produces a K1. You can give back to him in many different ways. I would love to see 10s of thousands of these K1s get sold or made. That would recoup some of his time and effort. That is why trying to spread FUD about the K1 is just not cool basically taking money out of his pocket. If our COOP will be able to sell out or not it doesn't matter as we will put those unsold units into good use at our collective mining farms we have and guess what... we still pay the royalty per board. So let us all build and mine with K1s and K16s for as long as we can. Everyone one built is win for BKKCoins as long as we respect the royalty.

The agreed upon royalty was approximately 0.02 BTC per each...
