Have you ever wondered how would the world's economy be like in the future as a cashless society? Perhaps, with the increased traction of blockchain acceptance nowadays, could lead to the creation of digital fiat currencies powered by blockchains that are managed by governments themselves. With this in mind, there would be no need for physical cash, as digital fiat currencies would provide many advantages such as quick settlement, global payments, full transparency, implants use on citizens to make payments, and more. If this becomes a reality, which I'm sure that it will, it would radically transform our lives for the better and reduce criminal activity as a result of the full transparency and auditability that a digital fiat currency would have thanks to the power of the blockchain technology. Also, it makes me wonder if cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin would exist by that time, or will they co-exist with digital fiat currencies. Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this.

Have you seen Mr. Robot? You reminded me of it. Well coming to real world, it is not possible at least for next 20 years. No matter how easy cryptocurrencies made the finance but still its scope limited to internet. We need liquid flow of internet to transfer BTC and other coins from one person to other. But if we see current situation, internet is not the bite of every individual. Lots of technical jargon stops the way of utopian society of CRYPTOCURRENCIES.

Abiky i believe a paper currency less society is possible but not in the recent future. First of all this will require universal free internet access which will not be possible until probably thirty years time that is even if the developed world is ready to make sacrifice to help the less endowed get to that le

That might happen if the governments are involved, but I'm sure it won't it might lessen the income possibility of business as goverments collecting taxes for each transaction in their bockchain being made and every businesses being involved with governments are what Chinese people hate, in the other hand its still pretty much impossible for now because there will be too much people to having a transaction every munite so basically there are so much things to work on for this being able to happen.

This is possible, but this would be implemented by the governments. This would result into fiat currency being converted to electronic currency. Generally, I think this will not result to the governments using cryptocurrency as most of those are decentralized. Something the governments don't want.

Have you been outside lately? If the government wanted a transparent records of the transactions that we've been having in our money, they should have done it by now already. Cashless society is already there. We are all using debit and credit cards to pay for something. But is the information about them available at all? It is not.
The government has a lot of shady business to cover to have a transparent record. Plus, it's totally nonsense to issue another cryptocurrency when they already have digital fiat.
I believe it's only in a perfect world where every transaction can be done digitally instantly with a ledger available for everyone with the support of the government.

The government has to create their own platform like ETH so we can transact under the government chain. But who would trust the government? Its not like you can do something whenever they will try to edit things which are suppose to be immutable.

However governments focus on digital growth cashless society is simply an impossible task. The reason why I made this statement is that even now people avoid using cards just because of the increased fee that's been levied as well few people haven't gained the required knowledge to use it.

Think of how much of your money is already digital. Your salary, most of the bills you pay; even when you get cash it is normally an electronic transfer at an ATM. Digital cash is not a coming trend. It is the norm now.

Cashless society will be more controlled by the government. It's bad. If people would speak out against the government is enough to turn off the Internet and people will not be able to even buy food. The more non-cash the greater the demand will be for gold.

There will always be need for cash the worst that would happen is the fact that the dominance of cash will reduce to a bearable minimum but not eradicating it because it wont happen. Not fifty years from now. Even in the this 21st century, cashless society relies solely on banks and internet which quite a population of the people in the third world countries are lacking and even the developing countries as well.

Absolutely! While the Internet didn't come in every house cashless society is just a myth. But I really believe the day will come. The technologies are developing vey fast and day by day the speed is growing. Blockchain technology brings the greatest progress to the society, but we are only in the most beginning and only in the future we will see all that possibilities bitcoin will bring to us.

There are some advantages of cashless society such as reduce illegal activities because govs could trace every transaction goes through the network. But, some people who don't do such things still don't want their transaction being tracked every day, I don't like it either. And there's always possibilities of digital money get hacked like what happens in cryptocurrency world before, a thief can manipulate the users to get their private key and password. So, I prefer to physical money for daily transaction than digital one.

Those are the ones I know about and that already have a plan set up for a cashless environment. Probably there are far more toying with the idea. Be it bitcoin or just efiat cash is on its last legs

Many preconditions for cashless society have already been fulfilled but still it's not easy to transfer our finances just like that. Cashless society would make many things much easier but I think it's in human nature to love the cash and feel it in your hands so many of us wouldn't like to give up the cash.

I have to pass on that. I feel uncomfortable with implants or whatever. It is still possible to have a cashless society without implants. If this becomes a reality, which I'm sure that it will, it would radically transform our lives for the better and reduce criminal activity as a result of the full transparency and auditability that a digital fiat currency would have thanks to the power of the blockchain technology.
I also believe that this will become a reality. Some are formulating their method about the application of this, I believe. We already have mobile banking, credit cards, and now cryptocurrencies. I would like to have further explanation about the reduction of criminal activities. I believe that reduction of crimes is not a benefit of this because criminals will just find new ways to utilize the new method of payment for their benefits. Also, it makes me wonder if cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin would exist by that time, or will they co-exist with digital fiat currencies. Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this. Cryptocurrencies will still be existing by then. Maybe a cryptocurrency is the key for the cashless society. Who knows, right?

I'm not advocating that money is passed in non-cash form. I am a supporter to cash back in those days when the government could not print more money than he has in the presence of gold and any Bank had to change them for gold. Maybe someday we will see gold bitcoin. Then it will be the strongest currency in the world.

I don't think cash will disappear, it's very useful and it will continue being. Technology is expensive and a cashless society too. Poor countries would have difficulty to implement it. Even cash being expensive to print, it's cheaper than the costs of a cashless society.
Also, I don't think it would reduce the criminality, only the focus of criminals would change, instead of steal people on the streets they would focus in cyber attacks, hacking the systems to steal the virtual currencies. It already exist but not so much, because the adoption is still low, but I already see kidnappings asking for rescue in Bitcoins.

How exactly bitcoin can reduce crime rate and make society less greedy? Bitcoin is a hot topic in the mainstream media and it is presented as new tool criminals are using. Bitcoin is not perfect remedy created to battle crime, reduce poverty or make people less greedy. It simply won't work. Cashless society = digital fiat when your every step is recorded and tracked by government, it is not about decentralized cryptocurrency.
