Previous announcements:

1) Live on Prohashing and Coinhills.

2) Very excited today to be able to confirm that our iOS and Android wallets are now in development. We have secured an experienced dev with Apple Merchant and Android experience, and at this time the ETA is approx one month, but we'll know more shortly. I see these mobile wallets as crucial to the growth of this coin.

3) In addition, SocialCoin will be mentioned in the September 2017 issue of a major UK motoring publication. Further details on this closer to the publication date, but the copy for this has already been written and received to the magazine editor.

4) Other news - a dev bio will shortly be released on the updated www.social-coin.co.uk website and we are in discussions with YouTube channels with significant subscriber volumes for callouts in their output. More on this soon.

SocialCoin – Payment for your online reviews, views, content, likes and opinion. Not related in any way, save the name (and note the ticker is different) to the previous SocialCoin back in 2014. That was aimed at charitable organisations, and hence a totally different area of the market. I’ve made contact with the devs, never heard back. So we push on with SocialCoin in the here and now.

I’ve also had contact with the owner of the pre-existing and related coin, YTC (YuTü.Co.in) and we have agreed on no conflict of interest. Note that other coins announced since our PRE-ANN, namely YouTubeCoin and LikeCoin represent copycats in our view and hence are being ignored from our perspective. I am prepared for the community to react however it sees fit to that information, but I maintain that I occupied the overall space first and hence lay claim to it.

Sustainability

This remains an area we are focussing on heavily, to ensure that the coin’s circulation continues after the initial interest. The network needs to ensure its own self-sufficiency. At this time, spreading the word is the best (perhaps, only) way of achieving this so I hope the community joins in this aim. But the dev team will do their bit also and will later confirm on approaches for this. The premine is partly intended to support this.

Roadmap

At this time we are still making contact with media contacts at platforms such as Amazon, but at the same time we are utilizing the open forums and entry points that those platforms make available in order to spread the word. This we will continue to do. So at this point, we are relying on crowd interest and the community pushing the idea, networking remaining the best route for building interest. Slack groups will be released in due course, plus a YouTube launch film (featuring yours truly…).

It’s important to realise that the fundamental roadmap for this coin is it’s permeation through the platforms it aims to serve. When somebody posts a review on Amazon, TripAdvisor, Trivago et al, we want to get to a point where they link their SOCC wallet address. Whatever we do from a roadmap standpoint after launch, will be with the aim of achieving this level of coverage.

Disclosure: The wallets will return two VirusTotal failures – ESET-NOD32 and Sophos. I believe in clean wallets and am on record on this forum as stating this. These two hits are normal bitcoin and mining-related false positives, as alluded to in the PRE-ANN, and hence we are shipping the wallets with these ‘reported’. I don’t want to spend any more time on the prep of this coin – I want to get it out there.

If anybody reports any additional VT results, you’ve downloaded the wallet from an insecure source and/or somebody has recompiled erroneously.

Release details

No ninja. Release will be 23.00 CET (22.00 UK time, 17:00 EDT, 14:00 PDT), Saturday 24th June 2017. Wallets and source code location, plus port details will be updated in this thread minutes before the launch.

This release is earlier than planned (was to have been Q3) to give maximum amount of time for pushing the coin into the various communities.
