Ok so Mining Rig Rentals looks a lot simpler to use, so I will shortly use them to throw some power at the blockchain and get us moving.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

While that surely will help in short term, do you have any idea on how we can fix this issue in long term perspective or how to attract more miners?

Diff change occurs every 6 blocks, will monitor the blocks and throw hash it in the short term, medium term the press announcements next month will bring more people (and miners, to your point) to the brand. Current issue is specifically because diff has nearly trebled.

seems like we get intermittent hash power mining socc...we really need more consistent miners moving forward...

Yes, agreed. I have succeeded in renting 500MH/s this evening, and it's now mining on one of the pools. What's interesting though, even though the last block has fallen, and the worker on the pool shows the same hashrate as the worker on the mining rig, the hashpower of the network stays the same. I'd have expected it to go up 500MH/s?

Yes I've been looking at these guys...certainly seems to answer the requirement for hashing power! Smiley

Good to see the blocks falling readily overnight. I have indeed reached out to Prohashing over inclusion on their site. From a consistency standpoint it's the way forward.

Hey Mark I don't know if you have any experience with youtube but it might be good to gain attention for the coin if you could upload a video that details the objectives of the coin, something we supporters can share as a basic introduction to Social Coin. Also maybe doing an AMA on reddit or something like that.

Edit: I also think it helps a coin's community gain traction if they can put a human face on it.

Yes I did say I was going to do this but just haven't had the time. Will definitely be doing this though. Means you all have to put up with my particular presenting style mind Smiley

I'm putting some rented hashing power against the blockchain via GCPOOL until we attract more miners.

Network goes like a train with 2GH/s of rented hash pushing it along Smiley Think I may have to buy myself a beefy miner Smiley

Incidentally, if anybody is wondering, the funds from the pool I am receiving, are being fed back into the costs of funding the rented rig. Nice little arrangement currently Smiley

Great job on pulling the network with the rented miner. Let's hope more would take interest in mining SOCC in the long run.

Thanks. It's not cheap but it's worth it because I want a network people can rely on. Will follow-up with the Prohash guys tomorrow given the consistent (albeit, low) sat currently there's no real reason why this coin cannot be added to their process. But we'll wait and see.

I have read that no one will get any bounty for facebook. It is sad, since the name of the coin is social coin and facebook is the most used "social media" around. Hopeful facebook bounties will be included soon.

Unfortunately, I will no longer have to mine this coin. I have 150 mh on the GCPOOL, but I have very few coins. And the last block was found more than 10 hours ago. My wallet does not sync.

This is the problem with keeping coins alive. As the diff increases, need to maintain the interest. I do understand your point, which is why I've been renting some hash in order to keep the network going whilst working on solutions such as having the coin added to Prohash. I don't want this coin to die.

I'd request you don't pull out yet (if you do, to be frank, it's part of the problem, others see this and the selling begins, look on Yobit), and at least wait a few more days for the network to get going, but of course I cannot force you to stay in Smiley Have predicted this though hence taking steps to try and offset the effects.

Correct in that it's a social coin not a 'bounty' coin. But consider your response and answer this - have you posted your coin address on any Amazon etc reviews? That is the way to earn bounties, not posting about or liking the coin on Facebook.

That being said, I've been considering the branding here and perhaps making it clear that the coin is going to appeal to more than the reviewing platforms, hence moving closer to Facebook but in that case the bounties would be smaller until I see people posting to grow the coin, not merely to get freebies.

A quick reminder for all on the roadmap:

July 21st - White paper is published.
By July 21st - Aiming to have the coin listed on Prohash, benefiting from the massive influx of hashing power that this will bring. In the meantime, I will be using some rented hashing power to kick the network forward. So please keep those wallets connected.
Mid-August - Test mobile wallets released on iOS and Android. Bounty payments for those involved in testing.
Mid-August - UK press (magazine) mention and info around SocialCoin.
Mid-August - Mor dev bios on the website, showing who is working on the deliverables.
By end of August - Live mobile wallets on app stores.

I am also still working on areas such as radio adverts and having the coin called out in YouTube features on channels with high subscription levels. More details on the above in due course.

All this will be in the white paper, but for now all I can urge miners to do is stick with it. Pulling out now will result in the untimely demise for the coin before the true benefits can be realised.

Mark.
