Bitcoin would not end on August 1 and at the same time there will be no chain split if the bitcoin scaling proposal that was implemented by that time is segwit2x and not others. Even if others were implemented, bitcoin would not die but the chain splitting was possible if other proposals are implemented rather than segwit2x. For now I see segwit2x winning with more support than others.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I have noticed that all the newbies and generally people that aren't hardcore bitcoiners that follow the news daily, are just catching up recently with UASF/BIP148 and the august 1st date, and they think something will happen. They still have not understood the fact that nothing is going to happen anymore because we got segwit, even if we got the shitty segwit2x, but who cares since it is compatible with Core.

Based on my own reading and research on this very important matter, for sure this will not be the end for Bitcoin and in fact this act is done to make Bitcoin more agile and efficient so that it can handle more transactions which hopefully can unclog the backlogs of transactions in the blockchain. There is no debate that there is a big problem in Bitcoin and what is being debated until now is the correct solutions or solutions for the problem of scaling.

Now, the worst that can happen will be the split almost similar to what happened to Ethereum that resulted into the classic Ethereum or ETC and the more popular ETH. In case, there would be a split then maybe we can be receiving two types of Bitcoin by then but this can of course affect the value of the coin most especially immediately after the event.

However, I still believe that there would be no split and if there is then it will not be bloody as feared by many. The bigger interest of the common people holding Bitcoin should prevail.

so how do we know which kind of BTC we have now if this happens?

I think the scenario will be like on what happen in ethereum, if you will put your bitcoins in a site or wallet that supports BIP148 then you are capable of receiving the new type of bitcoin where in ethereum it is called ethereum classic, so you just need to put it to a wallet and for sure there is difference in name of the coin so you will not get confused in bitcoin and the hard fork type of bitcoin.

The "beauty" of a hard fork when you own coins is that you should get double the coins. Coins on the new chain + coins on the old chain. Of course you need to really own the coins, meaning they must be in the right wallet.

Segwit may have advantage and disadvantages, but the positive advantage might be lowering fees and making bitcoin user friendly when it regards to fees. This improvement and changes will still inprove the bitcoin ecosystem.

OP, read  a bit more before you spread FUD!

Segwit2x s been agreed on and as it seems now, it should be activated and ready for August 1. There will be NO BITCOIN FORK!

Yup — Segwit2x still hovering at around 80% though.
I think 80% is still good enough for now cause eventually the rest will be forced to join the bandwagon as 20% is a huge part of minority and I am sure no one wants to be part of that.

That's such old news. It's over 90% now. The minority is only the slow people it seems. Everyone has finally agreed to go ahead with segwith2x.
Oh! Thanks for the update. That is good to hear knowing there is now a full agreement on segwit2x. At least now, we fully know where we are heading as a community.

As far as my understanding is correct since Im still new to bitcoin world, even with a chain split, there is still bitcoin.

If the chain splits, then you will have double Bitcoin.  After split, hope for another split.  Good way to get rich.

it's also a good way to kill the value, i don't think in the remote case of a chain split, the exchange will listen both chain as a bitcoin with the same value, it doesn't make sense

one of the chain will be listed as an altcoin, or simply not listed, and the exchange are with core they said it already, so any other chain is an altcoin

Bitcoin will seperate after august 1?

or

Bitcoin will end?

Some of sites written about this.

Need a Expert opinion or Real news. So waiting....

Bitcoin will separate? That sounds vague. Bitcoin will not split and there will no BU and BTC co-existence after the UASF. And as in addition, no separation will occur since this just a User Activated Soft Fork and not a Hard Fork (correct me if I am wrong here).

Bitcoin will not end upon the activation of segwit/UASF. The activation was proposed (and approved?) in order to upgrade Bitcoin so how come that this will trigger the end for Bitcoin?

First of all the Bitcoin is immortal and it can't ever dead because it is the data written in online but it is impossible to erase this data without the permission of the owner of the Bitcoin network , so end of Bitcoin is impossible .
But in my opinion the Bitcoin is going toward the limit of the 21 millions so it may be possible that is the reason why they want to make another coin comparable to the Bitcoin and more impactful sppeder faster network chain .
But here the main thing is that segwit is replaced by the segwit2x( results into two chain one for the btc and second for the another coin ) but here only 80% of the chances are for the launching to work successfully . So here it is possible may be they don't launch segwit2 and renew the segwit ( old ) with the improvement and with better response with big block size .
( Here all arey opinion and according to the news that is spread in my friend circle about it ) .

Bitcoin will not end. I think we will zoom past $3000 and be at $4000 a week later.
We really need smart contracts on Bitcoin to maintain first mover advantage. Many in my circle are skipping Bitcoin and getting drawn into ETH smart contracts because of ICOs.

We need smart contracts on Bitcoin? Really?!
So far there isn't even a single useful smart contract running on Vitalium?!The need and significance of smart contracts for a store of value is not needed imo!Furthermore it's more a buzz than a real thing at the moment.
You may get that with RSK as a sidechain. And that is enough!
99% of the ICOs are scam! They increase the size of the blockchain massively!
It seems you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. But hey it's about the quick buck right?! Wink

Well, i know it's just a joke. Bitcoin is money from the internet, so if bitcoin dies then the internet is disappearing, so I do not think it will happen, especially in August. Well, now bitcoin is rising in popularity, so I guess it's just a joke

I think you have a wrong misunderstanding there. Bitcoin will not be dead by August 1, instead, Segwit 2x might be activated and they are doing it for Bitcoin also.

This is the much awaited fix for the high transactions and slow network confirmation, every body should look at it positively and do not spread panic, the title of this thread will cause so much confusion I don't like the title with end of bitcoin, however positive it may seems.

We dont know wha will happen in bitcoin in august 1 but i hope the effect will not big because bitcoin is very important to us.  But if bitcoin dump on that day for sure that not end  because even the price of bitcoin dump for sure many investor will invest to bitcoin again because they want more profit. I hope the price will increase more and my target price is 5000 before the end of this year and I think it will happen even many said bitcoin dump ir dead in august 1.

Even with a chain split there will still be bitcoin, and it won't massively affect bitcoin. I should thrive after August the first since the transaction fees should be lowered. The only reason for bitcoin to die is if the internet would die since it is an online form of currency and until the internet dies bitcoin

Bullshit...
Why are you telling such type of discouraging comment? Have you any evidence behind this issue??
Every issue must have been created by concrete finding, so you have to follow some rules to spread out this type of comment.

Think positive you don't know what will happen they can assume what will happen but it is not 100% sure or accurate i think even if problems occur even if the value will decrease i dont think bitcoin will not end that easily.
