Can Bitcoin End World Poverty?

That's far from happening, only a small portion of the world's population knows how to earn bitcoin and the rest have no idea whatsoever. If we really want to end world poverty then we should first educate them and teach them how to earn bitcoin though not all of us are fortunate to gain access to it because in some parts of the world, the internet connection is slow or sometimes there's none at all.

I agree with you at some point, but we don't have to teach them anything in the first place, it will be their own discovery.

Bitcoin can not make everyone rich, because he is not a fantastic tool. It can only help those who are willing to take risks and who have the Internet. In general, no currency is capable of destroying poverty.

Not everyone will use bitcoin, not everyone can use the internet, there are millions of poor people in every country and many of them poor because lazy to work hard and dare not take risks to change. So even though bitcoin comes in, bitcoin will not change the world economy too much

i'm afraid its not as easy as you think. bitcoin has helped the relatively poor people but the numbers are just not noticeable. however when it comes to the absolute poors who

are living less than $2.50 per day, even if bitcoin is around as well as the internet, it will be impossible for most cases because they can't afford to access a compatible device,

most of them are illiterate or can only speak/read 1 language which is not english. when situations like this arise, the only ones who can help them are the

governments/charities/foundations who are giving them directly what they need.

It doesn't necessarily end the world poverty, but if it can, then it would be a long process before fulfilling this. Nowadays, bitcoin is continually growing and it needs more promotions to be known by the whole world, and to be a official currency in the future, it has to be known by many companies so that they will invest through this.

Ending poverty would have to start with the government and people in the higher heirarchy of society. Unless we have these high ranking officials put a lot of honest work, bitcoin, or anything else can only provide temporary reprieve for people under poverty

I do not see bitcoin as a thing that can be used as an instrument to end up the massive issue of worldwide poverty. Although bitcoin can provide many people an opportunity to gain money as an income, it cannot be a tough reason that bitcoin can end up the world poverty. Bitcoin is not a magical instrument that in just one snap then poverty could end. Maybe it would be possible if the usage of bitcoin will be used by the private, public and government sector of every nation across the world to help each other to partially lessen the poverty effect. But the totality abduction of worldwide poverty throught the use of bitcoin, it might be impossible.

But this is not as simple as we may think: ending poverty is not just about money, but also their access to things like water, health, education, housing etc.
Ending poverty is only possible if governments of developing countries will actively engage in the process of lifting their citizens above the poverty line

This is correct, it is not as simple, and there are more problems to that as it may seem at first glance, the planet is already struggling to keep 7 billion people, if we begin to consume more resources then things could get ugly, so not only we need to do all the things you state, we need to do them in a friendly to the environment way, and that is something we do not know how to do.

I don't think we should even consider the fact that it could end poverty because poverty has been existing for ages and the less privileged in our communities didn't start existing today and if for all this time nothing has been able to end their fate why should we lump all this on young innocent Bitcoin? It's just not practical because all Bitcoin could do would be to help a few out of their situation but to completely rid the world of poverty is impossible. The world will even loose balance should that happen.

Well, for me i don't think that bitcoin will end the world poverty because it is really massive things to be change or done. Aside from that, in order to end the poverty we need to change ourselves first. I'm gonna say a little thing about bitcoins, it is just a way to make someone rich who's got skills and knowledge about it. Of course you can't eradicate poverty just with a currency.
The author was blaming banks and payment gateways for most of the problems.
By his logic before there were any banks in Africa the  entire population was as rich as Scrooge McDuck.

But the funny part is here.

I agree, those people that has internet or computers or modern gadgets can be helped by bitcoin. But for those depressed areas they can't it's either they don't have signal, tools , gadgets or anything that is needed to know and earn with bitcoin. It's one of the problems in far places, they don't have electricity nor access to internet.

Bitcoin, introduced in a standard manner, as it is now, is going to follow the 80/20 rule, 80% of the money will be held by 20% of the people.  Currency is not the poverty issue, it is a deeper societal issue that cannot be solved with FIAT, or Bitcoin or any currency.

Bitcoin is a way to get out of poverty for some but I agree with the inclination of some that it is not a magical potion that can make poverty in the world disappear. Bitcoin is a fickle thing it is a gamble, it is learning to see what trend and when it would be best to go all in or to hold back. Bitcoin is not a surefire way, some lose most of their investments while some can be adaptable enough to know that it is best to sell now. Some might see it as a perfect way to earn money continually but I think it is practical that we also learn to earn in a more stable manner.

Bitcoin is not a magic wand which will end world poverty. It simply doesn't have the power to end such a massive thing. Also bitcoin is not a payment system anymore. We have moved to a different goal long back, when the confirmation time increased and transaction fees hiked. These confirmation time and transaction fees is going to be increased again and again. So we will move from the initial goal further.

Bitcoin has now purely became an investment asset. IT can provide a huge return which any other conventional investment will never be able to offer ever. So I take bitcoin purely as an investment and a trading asset. I earn profit  and keep it for the future.

I don't think that government is the only responsible for this. It should be in every individual because if every people have patience and will, he/she wouldn't suffer from poverty. Government is just a support but the main foundation is in community.

Because people have unrealistic expectations out of bitcoin, or because they do not really understand bitcoin at all, bitcoin can help us make money, but it cannot help everyone, especially those that do not even have access to the technology to use bitcoin on the first place.

By making perfect sense, Bitcoin has nothing to do with world poverty. It is indeed a large scale to deal with. Its the government's past and current issue, we may never resolve such problem because for one, there's no such thing as equality meaning there will always be a hierarchy system that divides people by their 'economic stability'. And two, considering bitcoin will be a big hit in the future, it will be just like a fiat (not exactly and directly saying that it will have a paper or coin money), that will only supply the needs of those who're in need.

Besides Bitcoin has its own problems.
