The deflationary aspect of Bitcoin and the 51% attack vulnerability will eventually cause people to move to an alt-coin without these defects, such as PPC.  But Bitcoin is doing the initial hard work of raising awareness for virtual currencies.

Try. All other coin follow price of BTC all will go up because NY and Christmas are coming then all will fall in January/February 2014

What does everyone think about btb? seems to be the most advanced coin out there. Proof of stake (solves deflationary issue and is far more energy efficient/sustainable) + scrypt (more democratic mining, adverse to asics) + coin mixing. And its scarce to boot.

Bitcoin breaks $1000 and altcoins slow in growth. Feels like that number is just scary, but as it climbs, altcoin growth will catch up....

Incredible how LTC has exploded.

Any guess which altcoin could be next? PPC?

I would say PPC and Megacoin.

Can't believe Megacoin hitting $3 USD in China today, used to be able to mine 10k of those a day a few months ago. If I were to guess, keep an eye out for DTC.

Any emerging technology needs market diversification for a sustainable future. When IBM picked Intel as a primary CPU vendor for their new PC line of products back in 1981, they had an explicit condition of introducing at least one competitive vendor -- AMD, that would ensure IBM can negotiate better terms of supply and counter the monopolistic attitudes.

I can't agree with that. I am currently mining Litecoin. Bitcoin has become too demanding for ordinary people to mine and the price of Litecoin has surged over the last months. I don't want to by ASIC or FGPU, and mining with GPU card is too slow for me to get into the pay queue. I think Litecoin would be a better choice for me.

Do not mine with a laptop! Those machines are not designed for continuous stress load.

Invest in a desktop system -- in a case enclosure or open stand, with quality cooling and power supply.

I'm leaning towards the newly reborn Stablecoin for the future, great design and intended to assist in maintaining anonymity.

Problem I'm having right now is maintaining a stable connection to the coin-base SBC pool.

I like Primecoin as well and am mining both of them and litecoin, but I am also looking closely at Mega and PPC.

Actually I am mining with my 1 year old laptop, but I am doing so at my own risk. So you probably don't want to do the same thing.

I doubled my investment in FTC already. But I don't know how long it'll last. Not investing a significant amount for a long term.

I've also done well with FTC.

I've been backing/buying it from 12 cents. I reckon it's only gonna go upwards from here. Bittylicious are trading it sometime next month.

The altcoins that are pointless are which not listed in any major exchanges and just having price major variations everyday (pump and dump.) Other than those all are perfect to use Wink.

First day here and feeling quite a bit overwhelmed, so much data so little time. I've been reading up on this information for a few days and have registered for quite a few of the sites around.

Hope all is well, back to surfing the site.
