Maybe look at what cause the price to rise in bitcoin and continue on from there?

There isn't just one event but more like a series of events with the most important of them the sudden china interest in cryptos.

I've had a lot of fun trading the alt coins. Small investments that can result in a decent percentage gained.

So where is the best file source location for pool mining QRK?  I assume Minerd is trusted.

I'm thinking about trading a small amount of bitcoin to QRK. But sincerely, I think most of alt-coins are for speculation only.

I am going to trade with QKR too, seems to be growing for a bit, but I'm not very optimist for a long term...

Greetings,

What you guys thinking about NMC ?

Do chinese people can buy NMC on their platforms ?

thanks by advance,

/cheers

The only coin that has an actual purpose.
About the chinese platforms I have no clue.

bter.com has a lot of alt coins; And according to this website (https://bitcoinaverage.com/#CNY), bter is the 5tyh largest (in terms of  BTC volume).

Hi,

I just setup a p2pool miner QRK.   http://www.quarkpool.net:8372

If you wouldn't mind hitting the server with the QRK CPUMiner to test that its reachable and paying out, you see your miner and see a 1% fee?   Willing to assist in debugging your setup further if can get some testing done.   Just send a PM with your QRK payment address used for the mine.

This is a single server at my house and it's using p2pool.   There is not much information on the internet on how to get it setup... hit a couple snags.

Running ubuntu server 64... have to get a bunch of dependencies DL

Most of the work is just like a BTC p2pool setup

Get the source here:

https://github.com/Neisklar/p2pool-quarkcoin/

Then patch with this or will get errors:
https://github.com/Neisklar/quarkcoin-hash-python
git clone this and run python setup.py install

Run the cpuminer for quark with -a quark as well ;>   otherwise with scrypt it will appear to function - but not mine a thing ;>

https://github.com/uncle-bob/quarkcoin-cpuminer

-d

So where is the best file source location for pool mining QRK?  I assume Minerd is trusted.

are there websites to check out the current exchange rates from alt-coins to bitcoins and/or litecoins?

You may want to check exchanges directly like https://www.cryptsy.com/ and btc-e.com

Cool, thanks a lot!

Yeah, thanks

Almost all of the alt-coins are there are going to be a waste of time.  They're being created to take advantage of people who get super excited about different things and then get pumped and dumped.

Be careful about wasting time with too many alt coins.

tysat, if you believe they are pump and dumps, seriously who do you think is behind it?  mtgox?  the btc elites?  honestly, if someone is pumping and dumping in an organised way, as a means of screwing new investors then the entire alt community should hunt them down

Most Alt coins are completely pointless and just poor replicas of what's already out there with little to no improvement.

The second quotation explains why, very few actually do something new.  Most coins are just a slight tweak of BTC or LTC then a new name is given to it.

That's a fair point but surely there are some coins that offer something to compliment the emerging digital currency market.

In your opinion what ones might rise in value and why?
