Shall I trust the Lottocoin which is announced today?  Grin

It's Lotto, just play it, you'll see if you win. Smiley Btw, it was pretty hard to compile qt wallet from the source, there are some errors in Makefile. And when I finally compiled it it appeared that the difficulty was too high already, it'd be quite hard to do solo mining.

I agree that most of these altcoins will end up being worthless or scams, but it is hard to resist the chance to get in on the next bitcoin (or better) at the ground floor!

You mean , it's hard to resist greed , isn't it?
Well , that's everything that drives the altcoins and that brings new altcoins to life.

Does anyone know anything about Dogecoin and if it can be trusted? I believe it was lunched a few day back. Any input would be appreciated.  Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

I saw a post of someone buying millions of it, but I don't think it could be a good investment.  Undecided

Trusted?  I dunno, but it's funny as hell!

I would like to work on development of a polymorphic altcoin that maintains a stable value and is more resistant to fraud.

I heard Bobby Lee, CEO of BTC-China speak in Vegas yesterday. Lee agreed with another speaker that there will be a lot of mining for LiteCoin in China when the ASIC Miners arrive. With China estimated at 50% of the BTC volume, this appears to indicate there will be greater interest in LiteCoin. I may explore them further because another influential speaker questioned why they would mention LiteCoin that enthusiastically. I expect it will help long term in the case of LiteCoin, but can't speak for other coins.  Roll Eyes

It's interesting that the creator of litecoin is the brother of the owner of BTCChina.   You would have thought they would have listed litecoin before the other exchanges.  Wonder what is going on there.

The preponderance of altcoins makes me wonder: how could anyone ever make sense of so many different currencies? I expect BTC to survive the brunt of the scrutiny / legislative burden, and LTC seems like a good contender for the long haul, but everything else seems a bit of a stretch.

Hi Guys,

I'm excited about AltCoins, one of the coins I really like are the new Bytecoins, the reason is, is I bought those USB miners and want to support a coin early in development. If Bytecoins take off even a fraction of Bitcoins, that would be great, I'd like to support that, especially because the programs built for Bitcoins will probably be easy to port over to Bytecoins since its a 1:1 clone. Anyway, what AltCoins do you guys like or think I should put money into?

Hi,

new to this forum, and to the crypto currency-world in general.
I've been browsing around, trying to find an answer to this, feel free to tell me off if I haven't looked hard enough, being a newbie and all ^^

So, all these giveaways and easy to get altcoins that are posted on this forum, what do I have to do to retrieve correct addresses to apply for the hand outs?

Is it necessary to download software for each coin, to get a wallet address, or is there some service out there able to generate different wallets on one account?

I've been looking at some of the altcoin giveaways, and it seems tempting, of course, with these freebies. But it seems very tedious and dangerous to download software for each different currency. So far I could only see .exe files as well, with no online wallet alternatives.

So.. just wondering if there is some service that I don't know of, with online wallets for a bunch of currencies, or if the idea is to download software for each new currency?

I love the innovation behind datacoin and xpm, which can't be said for the majority of alt-coins. You should trade for DTC on bter.com while it's still an infant  Grin

7) If he has no reputation (including most cases when he is a newbie or a Jr.), even small tranches are a risk. Better use an escrow system, like the one of bitmit.net, or a trusted member, or you might need to send over 10 very small tranches. It can be annoying, but loosing your money will be more.
8] For big amounts always use an escrow system, unless the member has an excellent reputation.

Since this thread is a sticky, I decided to post this here. Any moderator or member feel free to move, copy or improve these rules at will.

Hi all, i've read this old post
can someone suggest me a good escrow system or a safe way to trade since bitmit.net is closing?
what do you suggest or what do you do for your trades?

Thanks in advance
