Yes, a lot of altcoins do have a future. Considering every other coin except for bitcoin is an altcoin, I think a ton of them have a future. Just don't pick the wrong ones!

It seems to me that not all coins will survive in the future. Many of them will die, because the idea of their projects is very weak and not in demand.

But nevertheless, the majority of altcoin will fail as it was mentioned above, the only good altcoins which have the solid developer, a good progression and big community will remain, the others will be eliminated with natural elections.
you have to understand that every day, the new project is created, the smart contract is developed, altcoins with firm dev and a bad progression will turn into dust.

In my opinion many coins, including bitcoin, are perspective in the future. In the near future I consider that the human task consists in that computers did work of people and made investments.

yes, i believe altcoins have future, its not that Bitcoin is already godlike and because it has a golden value or have very high price is that its perfect coin already, but it still has its flaws and lacks some things just like its digit in decimal place its somewhat very difficult to read for other people and some famous american citizen didn't even know what bitcoin is. Thats why altcoins are created  to fill the gap that bitcoin lacks. |

I think that might happen because we have a price increase of most altcoins. But in the long run, it all depends on what will happen to Bitcoin. If Bitcoin can solve a problem like the high transaction costs you mentioned, then it will be a cryptocurrency. Otherwise, we should wait for another cryptocurrency that will play Bitcoin.

i do think cypto will be the future. Just not the near future. New coins are being and will be developed. There are a few problems that prevent mass adoption.
The first is transaction time. For instance, when you go purchase daily items ( gas,food,cloths,ect) you most likely pay with a credit or debit card. The transaction is verified almost instantly. Until we have a coin that has the quality mass adoption is not even possible. No one is going to wait 30 minutes for their credit or debit card payment to clear. We do have bitpay which is accepted at several stores. Subway and dunkin donuts probably being the best know. That is a giant leap forward. However, the transaction tax for small amounts like 5 usd for coffee makes this an expensive alternative.
The second problem is government taxation. Especially here in the US. Our government will never permit a payment method they can not verify and tax. I know that is the point of cypto and bitcoin in general. Retailers are responsible to add tax at time of sale. Since the government does not accept bitcoin or any alt coin that is not possible. The only reason retailers can use and accept bitpay is that bitpay accepts the bitcoin but pays the retailer in fiat. Usually usd. Major corporations are not going to risk expensive legal trouble in an attempt to help you avoid paying sales tax.
The 3rd major issue is unification. The only coin that has a chance at becoming a true form of payment is bitcoin. No other coin is even accepted at retail locations.AFAIK. With all the altcoins causing diversification that only worsens the problem. You do not see the retailers that accept bitpay running out to try and accept ether. Nor will they. You do not see bitpay expanding to accept ether either. There would be no advantage for them to do so.
Price flucuations are another major issue. Pumper and dumpers cause a huge risk to any retailer that would consider accepting cypto. Fiat does fluctuate in value. Very slightly compared to cypto. A retailer is not going to accept a payment method which may lose 10% or more in value overnight.
For now there is decent money in mining and trading.The only safe investment is in bitcoin. Any other cypto is purely a gamble. You do not truly know if there is another hidden premne and someone is just waiting to dump.
Stonisetfool, thanks for your summary of the issues facing crypto at the moment. I think that is a really accurate assessment and in the short term I think your conclusion may be accurate. In the long run, however, I think altcoins do have a future and I think it should be the goal of the the crypto community to ensure that future. The fundamental gaol of Bitcoin is to decentralize the economy. Using multiple platforms greatly increases decentralization. Multiple dominant currencies will also help mitigate price fluctuations and high transaction fees. With improvements in exchange integration and payment systems there will be no reason a retailer accepting one cryptocurrency wouldn't accept others. I think we will see business accepting multiple cryptocurrencies soon just as we see options for payment in different fiat now. |

All altcoins like Ethereum, Bitcoin In my opinion in the future we will only have one acceptable cryptocurrency. If Bitcoin can solve it, it will be the cryptocurrency, otherwise we should wait for another cryptocurrecncy that will replace Bitcoin.

I believe Bitcoin has a future in long term. It proved itself in the past years and it is getting widely popular. It just has a transaction fee problem atm.
What about the altcoins? Who does use them for real? Will people use them in the future for real purpose?
I only have a hope for ethereum and litecoin, but not for the rest. I am not even sure for eth and ltc.
If bitcoin solves the reansaction fee and time problem, I doubt eth and ltc even have a future.
Yes, definitely, I think they do. I think everyone is just so focused on Bitcoin because it has the best value and marketability in the market that it has shifted so many eyes on it and commanded unwavering support from the many people venturing in this market. However, I think that altcoins are equally essential no matter how small or big it is because it's the asset that competes with Bitcoin and gives it a run for its money. It's not a good market if everything is one sided, meaning only a few assets are prevailing because there would not be any diversity in the ventures of people, which would certainly kill off the market in the future. |

There is a lesser chance that bitcoin will be replace and if it would happen, it should be ETH which has a great chance. I just have to invest with bitcoin and diversify to altcoins because the cryptocurrency as a whole has a big potential in the future, we just have to wait. |

I believe in all altcoins, which actually solve a real problem with a smart solution like deepoinion is doing with Tor technology and deepsend. Altcoin have good future, but not all altcoin I am sure Ethereum and Waves will , these two coin promising for future.

Not all coins because not all has the real vision to implement their ideas for the future. There area lot of altcoins but only few have really been performing, if you check https://coinmarketcap.com/you can see that there are a lot of coin with close to no volume. |

For me I can say that altcoin really do have a future maybe not all of them but some will. Eth and ltc can be those who may have a great improvement in the future and for me it is worth to gamble on those altcoins.

Any thing with diversity usually exists far more than one can expect. And that, in my opinion, is among the best quality of the altcoins.
With diverse altcoins around serving purposes of different industries/fields, i think it will be difficult to knock the altcoins down. Let us remember that there is unity in diversity and much strength in that formed unity.
So expect for altcoins to be around as long as bitcoin exists.
