Yeah was a very fair release with a very good dev. However the decimal places proved to be an issue.
The One Coin is a very nice concept though and most people would like a bit for their crypto portfolio. I didn't know you could still mine it.
I asked the dev why it need to have 18 decimal places, since 42 does not. However it seems 42 will need to have 18 in the future.
i could modify the code to fix that, remove tx fees. and make it rounder but who will support it? The block reward is still 0.0000005 and won't halve for another 3 years, could survive just fine with no transaction fees for now. And unless the network gets uber-fuckhuge, most miners shouldn't have an issue with accumulating at least 0.00000001 quickly enough to be able to transfer it to market. Only issue I could see is past miners who happen to have an odd amount of onecoin not being happy with you rounding away the last 10 decimal places worth of their coins. Seeing as this coin was never traded much and never hit an exchange, that has to be a relatively low amount of miners though. I don't know coding, but perhaps can you modify the client so you can only send and receive coins with a precision of 8 decimal places for now, but be sure the scraps in the last 10 decimal places simply remain locked up until a later date when it is feasible to switch back to 18 decimal places? i'll think on it, but someone else will have to support, my plate is full. i bet lol this forum should have a list of users and all their names they have used all coins they have been involved with making etc who you guys think would be on the top ?

WTB ONC 0.001 for 0.01 BTC, will buy smaller amounts also
This coin was always fun because it forced people to deal with metric prefixes. The coin's settings let you change which metric prefix you use -- very useful. I just synced up and took a look at the blockchain. There are 162846 blocks mined, each with at most .50 μONC (micro-ONC) rewarded. (Early blocks ramped up slowly and had less). So the total mined cannot be more than (162846) * (.50) (μONC) = 81423 μONC = .081423 ONC. So, if my math is right, you seek to buy roughly 1/81 of all ONC mined for .01 BTC. It would be a hoot if this coin made a comeback. It was certainly more innovative that its contemporaries. Since everyone's talking about onecoin again, I updated the charts on cryptometer.org. It only had 11 days of data before. Now it has 35 weeks: http://cryptometer.org/onecoin_96_hour_charts.html (First 96 hours) http://cryptometer.org/onecoin_90_day_charts.html (First 90 days) http://cryptometer.org/onecoin_104_week_charts.html (All 35 weeks) Looks like there is about 0.083 ONC out there total.

GPU mining doesn't seem to work, all my blocks end up rejected. Anyone else tried it yet? I left out -Nfmin -Nfmax and -StartT because I don't know what they stand for or how to find out and could never find an explanation! Also, whilst googling for an answer, I found a post somewhere saying Onecoin uses different mix and hash functions than YAC and other scrypt-janes so possibly this is why it isn't working? Assuming the standard scrypt-jane GPU miner needs to be tweaked specifically for Onecoin, as a dozen blocks all ending up as rejects in a hour doesn't seem right.
NFactor 11, kynda obvious GPU wont work. Can still mine GPU mine YAC just fine with N factor 14, play around with settings enough and all scrypt-jane coins yet released are still GPU mineable. Profitably mine @ Nfactor+ 10? nah hard to believe Well it isn't so profitable now, but thats not because you can't GPU mine it, crank up the thread conncurrency and lookup gap and it'll work. Trust me, scrypt-janes were my bread and butter for a long time while everyone was staring at coinchoose and coinwarz. In any event, I suppose it doesn't matter much at the moment as my i5 is still finding blocks right now. I'm gonna mine it for a bit and see what happens. I always liked onecoin and was sad to see it go away, hope there is still life in the old girl yet! Well, it does not use the same functions as yacoin, so AFAIK you cannot use the existing GPU miners: Okay, so now scrypt-jane is using BLAKE 512 and Salsa 64. Also I rewrote GetNfactor() to make Nfactor increase more uniform. cpuminer for Onecoin is coming soon (it should be a lot faster on 64 bit machines than the built-in miner).
Also, from makefile.unix: # scrypt-jane specific parameters DEFS+=-DSCRYPT_SALSA64 -DSCRYPT_BLAKE512 -DSCRYPT_CHOOSE_COMPILETIME
YAC and another scrypt-jane coins use # scrypt-jane specific parameters DEFS+=-DSCRYPT_KECCAK512 -DSCRYPT_CHACHA -DSCRYPT_CHOOSE_COMPILETIME I think you can mine blakecoin using a custom cgminer, so maybe it can be adapted to mine onecoin ... blakecoin uses blake256, I think ...

With all those success of 42-coin and Scrypt-jane, I guess we need to resurrect this one. What is strange to me that someone is actually mining it all this time

the main issue with this coin was the number of decimals. i'd reduced them to normal.

this way you can't divide a block enough times... not sure if it will be good for pooled mining. anyway, send it to me to try out.

I'm not sure if reducing number of decimals will work. say I have 0.00000092486057 ONC how will it translate to 8 decimals?

block reward is 0.0000005 ONC if we stick to that metric , then we can say lowest you can have is 0.0000001 in your wallet. If people object, we can still use the old version and just ask exchanges to add the extra zeros. I am sure some will take it up, no need to rely on cryptsy's weird practices anymore.
