I think we are looking forward and trying to prevent the 1-5% asic owners from raping a new coin.  PPC would have been amazing if it were asic proof.  The time that went into mining and building up bitcoin is part of what helps it hold value.  Also bitcoin transactions take way too long, I love BTC and will continue to hold it, but as far as a fast daily use coin, I feel litecoin is a better option.  Someone here on the forums said it before me, but I can't find it to quote that individual: "Hold BTC for longterm storage, but use LTC (or similar altcoin) for daily transactions."  Not exact quote, but you get the idea.

Anyways that's my 2cents on why all the altcoins are pointed towards scrypt right now.

You do of course not realize that the 'rape' of a new coin and the reason that all the shitty scrypt coins are launched by JR Members is that they are idiots that just wants a quick buck. What is the difference between ASIC mining a new SHA coin quickly and the 'developers' (You really only need to know how to cut and paste) instamining high block rewards for 10 minutes at difficulty 0.

There are more SHA256 coins than most miners bother to merged-mine.

For example the Massively Merged Mining p2pool at dvcstable01.devcoin.org:10332 pays out 100% of the bitcoins (that is, it is a NO FEE POOL for bitcoins) plus it also merges NMC, DVC, GRP, I0C, IXC, CLC and XGG alongside.

A bounty has been offered for tools the operators of such pools can use to share out the proceeds of selling the merged coins, so eventually we will be able to sell the merged coins for devcoins then share out the devcoins to the miners in proportion to the amount of mining they did.

As far as I know no one else even bothers to merge all the coins, Bitparking's merged mine pool for example only mergeds NMC, DVC and IXC.

So there is no need for any more SHA256 coins yet, as we have hardly even begun to make full use of those that we already have.

The problem with sha256 right now is ASICs are still limited in availability.

I don't see a registration link on dvcstable01.devcoin.org:10332... ?

Why not at SHA3 instead?  Here's one http://www.yacoin.org/about.html

N.B.  Keccak512 is SHA-3

After read your post ...

[ANN] After others, another useless coin, sha256, Trollcoin, massive premining, rewards 10BAC, 1BAC after,..
Bad coded, bad support, nothing different,...
This is a compilation of two projects by two groups: ScaCoin project, and MNova project.
It is possible to join all features in one coin, Trollcoin:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/trollcoin/?source=directory

To run it, compile:
Quote
bartercoin-qt -addnode=trollcoin.no-ip.biz:44444

Note: You should not mine useless coins,..., only for testing purposes,....,nothing more. It's not difficult to do a "working"* clone, really difficult, it's do something good. Requires years, ..., and more.

It is p2pool.

Use a bitcoin address as username, password isn't even used just anything can be put as password.

The bitcoins go out in the coinbases transactions.

It is effectively just a zero fee bitcoin-mining pool so far because there is not yet any tool for paying any extra yet, p2pool cannot do "negative fees" so cannot be set to send out more bitcoins than it mines.

So a bounty has been set up for a tools that can divvy up coins in proportion to work. With such a tool a pool could sell all the altcoins for devcoins and send out devcoins, since devcoin addresses are identical to bitcoin addresses. Or of course, a pool that isn't aimed at promoting devcoins could sell all the altcoins for bitcoins and divvy up the bitcoins similarly, to attract miners who only care about bitcoins by simply paying them more than 100% of the bitcoins mined.
