I opted for EVGA 1060s because higher-end EVGA variants are made of better components like Samsung memory.  I'm running three SSC cards and one FTW card.  All of them achieve 22.5-to-23MH while dual mining DCR at 31 intensity.  Not sure about SuperClocked (SC) cards.

Am I better off dual-mining something other than DCR on the 1060s?  My AMDs churn about a gigahash of DCR at 31 intensity while the Nvidia cards are topping at 333MH.  Anyone know if they are more efficient at LBRY, SIA, or PASCAL?  Yes, I could test it myself, but that takes time and my Nvidia rig is not easy to remote into.  Short answer appreciated.  Thanks.

I know it is difficult nowadays to find good cards, but all my Palit StormX cards comes with Samsung Memory, 18-19 Mhash out of the box and about 23-23.5 with overclocking from MSI Afterburner. Palit JetStream too should be with Samsung Memory but I am not sure about that. And the cost of Palit is on the cheaper side compared to Gigabyte or MSI.

Thanks for the hint.. do you use the 3gb or 6gb cards?
I read this before and thought palit dual is the same with better cooler. But got hynix on the 3Gb.
Maybe i try at next.
At the moment i try to shot some "older" cards from ebay with known samsung memory
EVGA SSC/FTW are sadly not availibe.
But i figured out that i can get cheaper 1060 6G Gaming over EVGAs step up programm.
Normal price here is about 320€.. over step-up only 274€. ^^
Only Micron but they work.
Bought a cheap 1050 and pay just the differenz. Tongue

Hello Miners !
Same issue here (France) with the Hynix chips.

2 weeks ago I ordered 6 x Gigabyte windforce 1060 3GB (202€/each) all of them came with a Hynix chip and could mine @ 15 mh/s out of the box and 18mh/s with OC
So had to return them and ordered 6 EVGA SC 1060 3GB (238€/each) i received yesterday and guess what .... HYNIX CHIPS  Cry Cry !!!! (same 15 mh/s out of the box and 18mh/s with OC)

Will return them today and order 6 MSI 1060 Gaming X 3GB (250€/each). Hope I'll have more chance this time at the chips lottery...

If still mother F** Hynix will move to AMD or try to get some of the new Vega 64 or 56 if lucky enough.

Cheers and happy mining

I got lucky with a 3GB open-box Asus card; it has Samsung memory.

I have another one coming in new condition, along with a PNY 1060 (also 3GB).

So it seems better to buy a used card with samsung memory then a new one. Don`t you agree with me?

I can't say for certain about every manufacturer, but EVGA has opted to switch all their 1060 cards over to Hynix (yes even SC and SSC). Previously all their cards used Samsung almost exclusively. In mid July they had a small batch flip to Micron but almost all new cards are being shipped with Hynix - look at the reviews at Amazon, Newegg, Microcenter.

Other than some smaller brands like Palit I'm pretty sure these manufacturers did this on purpose to cut down on RMA and to indirectly guarantee their cards won't be going to miners... at least not Ethash miners. You still have Zcash as an option.

Looks like it might be worth it to just wait for AMD stock. Some 1060s are now in stock and supplies are increasing since the Hynix joke started.

Those used R9 390s I bought in mass last year are the best cards ever created  Grin

This is a total bummer.  I was looking to add 2-3 new 1060 3gbs to my existing rig.
