So I have 2 cousins. One of them doesn't save and is a huge spender while the other is a saver and spends only once a year. So would bitcoin be a good way to teach them about saving? Since, mining bitcoin is the only way to make alot of bitcoin, I would use a alt wallet to show them what happens if you spend and don't save. What do you think?

Yes because the very core value of investing to bitcoin is patience and aside from that they will also learn how to protect themselves online and be vigilant at the same time. I think they will not just improve the way they manage their own money but they will also learn alot of things like research skills.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Honestly, it's difficult to explain bitcoin to kids. Even adults find bitcoin a little complicated to understand, what more if you will explain or teach kids about it. It's better for them to learn the importance and the value of money. They should learn it in a simple way.
You are talking about kids, I face difficulty even when I am talking to a youngster or an adult about bitcoin. This is not a very heavy concept but still, there is a little complexity in it. It is a total new idea so common people especially tech laymen require time to grasp the idea. However, the habit of saving money can be definitely taught to the kids and developed in them also. Parents must watch over the savings in bitcoin for their kids.

Teaching children about saving (and wider financial issues) is certainly important. It's part of normal schooling in some parts of the world and formal education of this nature might be rolled out more widely. Bitcoin might feature in that, but presumably only as part of it.

seriously why should kids learn to save from bitcoin,

1. bitcoin itself was made out of thin air

2. bitcoin damages burdens the infrastructure and socioeconomic environment.

one day these bitcoin manicas will get their tulpomania, the problem currently is that people have only the choice between banking cartells and blockchain this is way bitcoin stays.

Your a good man that do have concern for your cousins spending habits but telling them on how they gonna spend their money turns out to be personal stuff for them. Its none of your business on how they would make use of their own stuff but somehow trying out to explain isnt really bad at all since you are just concern for their future.Unwise spendings would really result into a bad situation later on.

when I was little my father taught me how to save money from my allowance every day well that allowance was not that much and only enough for my snack and payment for some projects in school and yes its pretty hard to save money back then. but now I can definitely teach my kid (well haven't one yet so someday) how bitcoin works so instead of wasting time in online gaming and posting nonsense in social medias  they can learn about how world spins  in just reading bitcoin and how to earn money while enjoying your self .

that would make sense because if you keep your bitcoins for a long time you will earn profit on it and it is pretty big amount when you hold it for a year. i suggest you teach them about bitcoin so they will know how important is saving Smiley

Bitcoin is hard to understand for the first time and bitcoin is not user friendly it is too complicated for kids so for me that is not advisable since the bitcoin is just like that and kids can lose their money by just one wrong step with bitcoin. So for me bitcoin is not for kids.
Bitcoin can be a way of saving but not intended for kids. Maybe if they already reach the right age it can be explained to them but not now that they are not capable to hold or manage money especially bitcoin as a form of digital money.
Bitcoin can help in teaching kids how to save money. But i guess it cannot be possible if that kid it to younger to handle. I mean ot will complicated for the kid to know and learn to use bitcoin with that age. Instead of having fun. But if kids will be at the right age, there is no problem introduing bitcoin to them because they will understant it for sure.

Depends from the person and his needs.  If the income not from bitcoin covers all the claimed that person, then of course he will not sell bitcoins without any problems and will save them until the right moment, and if money is not enough, then of course you will have to sell.

When it comes to savings, i do not think bitcoin will help parents to teach kids about savings.  The reason for this is that, Bitcoin or money does not make a difference if parents implement savings teachings to their kids.  It is up to the environment that kids had when it is growing.  Remember, Bitcoin will and can never talk.  It is up to the people who use it on how they will use it.

If you are going to tell them the essence of money you have the time to teach them to save a part on having money for investments or business. And Bitcoin could help you to explain it , for the stock changes of its value for them to treasure every bitcoin they have becasue in bitcoin it is much better to save for them to earn more and to have a bigger profit they could used in transaction through the future.

Yes bitcoin is the best way to teach children to save their own money because many people get a huge of money by doing investing similar to saving" just believe in bitcoin and have a faith and perseverance ans someday you will get a lot of money.

yes, it would be possible. We are now living in modern technology where kids are knowleadgeable about modern gadgets and internet. They can easily adapt and learn in new things so that it would be possible that bitcoon could help then to save money.

It depends on their age. If they are quite young explain to them the importance of money and exaggerate on the difficulty of earning a dollar, this way they'll realize how difficult it is to actually earn. Bitcoin can be earned through patience, so it is a good way for them to learn savings as they will know how much to save and spend in a certain ratio.

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency.
So let it function like one.
You have to use it for trade or investment purpose.
Its becoming expensive day by day, how can it teach kids about savings.
Instead kids will ask their parents why they have not saved some bitcoins for their future.
It is ok to introduce children's but its too early to teach kids bitcoins, bitcoin is quiet complicated term to understand.
Instead we can present bitcoin as a role model of saving and its output.

Bitcoin may not teach about savings directly but perhaps the use of it will. For me, it has taught me how to save because for the first time in my life, I've been earning through bitcoin. It has made my become conscious of my finances and expenses. It has taught me how to save because I am now mindful of the financial decisions that I make. Perhaps in a way, once kids learn about finances through bitcoin, it may teach them a thing or two about saving.
I even came across a post that says students were getting into Bitcoin studies after seeing how amazing it has been this year, but sincerely, that’s not a course and I won’t advise any student to waste their time saying they’re studying. Instead of study Bitcoin, why not study computer courses like programming and developing? That way you will know that you’re becoming an all-rounder.

And coming to the whether it helps kids learn about savings or not, I’m saying no to that, cause when you say kids you mean little children and I won’t advise a parent to get their children involved in such.
