I really love Tomochain, this is such an amazing project with such an amazing developement team behind. I still cannot believe that this coin is not in the top 20. I really hope some new and exciting dapps will come out in the next few weeks or months, and a lot of new people will join this community and the usecases will grow.

Hello, I have a question for one of the more technical-minded enthusiasts of this group. Is there someone who can confirm that Tao is more-or-less a clone of Tomochain? This is the message that prompted my question: Is there a particular reason why Bryce didn't do a proper github fork of the codebase (Tomochain), instead just grabbing it without any kind of attribution? Also, it's funny how he don't even bother to change the amount of masternodes from the default from how they do it. But yeah, I'm sure this will go as well as all the other things, and keep being maintained to the highest standard etc. I'd appreciate if someone could do a comparison of the two repositories. Thanks.

I've been following Bryce Weiner's Tao thread, was just wondering why he would do that sort of thing. Do you think he is trying to use Tomochain for a new project or just screwing around?

It is always good to hear good news from the team because whenever we see an update from the team make me stay strong with my TOMO holdings. TOMO is one of my best coins which they will deliver the product what they mentioned on their timeline.

https://imgur.com/LRQHFvDWhat's all the hype about #TomoX, you may ask. TomoX’s out-of-the-box capabilities will allow for experimentation in the token-trading space not only with #TomoChain-based coins but also with cryptos like Ethereum and Bitcoin. A quick look at 6 main advantages of TomoX!
With TomoDEX coming soon, another article from @techinvestmag explains #TomoX as indicative of a broader trend - modular infrastructure. Its SDK helps lower the barriers to launching a DEX with minimal upkeep costs and no development background #TomoChain https://techinvest.online/tomochains-decentralized-exchange-protocol-tomox-set-to-launch/

Do you think he is trying to use Tomochain for a new project or just screwing around? Something seems fishy here. He cloned the repo and took care to delete every mention of the name "TomoChain" in the code and also in the general description. You would not do that if you were just playing around with the code out of interest. But he did not change the rest of the description or stated that his project is a clone of TomoChain. To me that looks like he does not want people to know that it's a clone. He named it by his old project tao which seems to be around since 2016 but has been kicked of most exchanges and is trading near zero volume today. Maybe he will relaunch the project on the cloned chain to generate hype. He could "premine" the majority of coins and make even more since he would have the highest staking weight by far. If he generates enough hype and trading volume he can dump his coins and make a goof profit. I know I am assuming a lot but I have seen this happen over and over again.

Thanks. Everything you said about Bryce's potential motivations matches his MO to a T. He says old Tao holders (of which there are not many) can swap their old coins for new ones, but no doubt he will remain in control of most coins. I appreciate the input.

Here is Bryce Weiner's official response on copying TomoChain: Oh noes I copied another codebase and never tried to hide it. I borrowed smart contracts from a bunch of other projects too!
Nobody cares.
He obviously did try to hide it. If he wasn't he would have performed a proper GitHub fork of TomoChain. He also copied the Tomo README file near word-for-word, just changing a few things here and there. You can read more about it here. Not sure if this is a problem for your developers or not, and I'm sorry to interject this drama in this thread. Just thought you guys should be aware of it.

TAO's developer admited it but how it went wrong like that? I did not know about the TAO project before seeing the scam accusation here. The TAO project was born (on the forum) on July 28, 2016. About one year later, the TOMO project was born (on the forum) on July 15, 2017. I took the creation days of their ANN threads as their projects' birthdays. In reality, the real birthdays can be sooner.

This is Tao 2 -- just an excuse to run a second ICO for the same failed project.

It makes sense. I was confused when I read your copycat judgement above (maybe I missed some details in your posts). Thank you. It does not totally fit with the TAO 2 case but months ago, I also warned newbies about the new wave from scammers with probably newborn scam altcoin projects. Altcoin season, scam altcoin projects will appear. Check their Githubs first. So lessons from the past always have their values but newbies often ignore past lessons, especially if those lessons are from others, not theirs.
