Hello!

What a night.

The faucet is coming along. It is up , but not fully functional yet. You can have a look at faucet.jkcoin.com. Still needs some work, but hopefully tomorrow it will be ready to test. If you want to toss some addresses in to help with pre-testing, go right ahead.

We are a community and we need to support each other, we do not need animosity between pool operators. Perhaps later down the road when JKC is more established, a bit rougher banter would be acceptable as long as it is made clear it is banter. For now, we need to show the rest of the community how united we are with this coin.

js2082 has already done some footwork when it comes to exchanges. Feel free to e-mail and send petitions, but they are looking for a certain sustained hash rate. So while working the PR campaign with the exchanges, remember to encourage the miners out there to start mining JKC. JKC was started 10 days ago, getting on an exchange used to take months or years.

I also want the community to look at the value of the coins that were fast tracked onto the exchanges, we need to build a larger base community to support trading on an exchange. If JKC hits an exchange with too small a market, its value will plummet, as the trading volume will not be high enough to support a good value.

JKC does not need to make it to an exchange tomorrow or die. Give our coin and community a little time grow, or you might find it a flash in the pan. This does not mean I want you to stop encouraging the exchanges, but do not stake the whole value of JKC based on fast tracking to an exchange.

I will get done what I can tonight, but the bulk of my work will resume tomorrow.

The JKC community is doing a great job and I am positive we will succeed.

Robert

Yes support your visions! No worry, we have time, we are a great community, we will grow and exchange will recognize it.

Why change the name?  Is the coin hiding something or launched improperly?   I say no.  Not to mention most coins are a 3 letter abbreviation that ends with c.  Changing it to JNK would deviate from that.

This coins is on the right track.  A strong leader and a fair amount of followers.

One of community members sent me a question by PM, and I thought posting my answer in the thread might help others as well.

The question involved changing coin base reward addresses and why they change.

This is a pretty common cause for confusion.

Let me start with how a wallet generates addresses. The very first address a wallet generates is like a "seed" address. It is assigned a null name "" .All the other address that wallet generates will be deterministic with the original "seed" address based on ECDSA (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliptic_Curve_DSA )

All the coin clients automatically shift addresses used in mining payouts (Unless the payout address is defined as it is in modern pool software). Pushpool simply uses the getwork to get header data and to return a winning hash of the header to the daemon who then assembles the block. The daemon decides what transactions go into the block including where the coin base transaction goes(Merkle root included in the hash information the daemon passes during getwork). Since the daemon is programmed to change the address it uses for coin base every so often (security feature) one will see the coinbase receiving address change.

Example of a reply to a  getwork request:

Code:
{
"midstate" : "7fbf667fef23bf7b6c1bbbbba177e0ae5a6ccce26a594f761ebf31bb541aeeca",
"data" : "000000017a35a437af9cfb83ab684c99b79b291b040586e0781c052ade80aac70a044b0013aa711710ab73f24455f4ca0b1d30f30b0d304270be82d54ede6f8cc40e9fea519277cb1d008c1b00000000000000800000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000080020000",
"hash1" : "00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000008000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000010000",
"target" : "00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001b8c00000000",
"algorithm" : "scrypt:1024,1,1"
}

In modern daemons and pool software, the pool software is able to assemble the block itself, including the transactions, hence why it can define its own coinbase transaction. It then sends the completed block to the daemon which either accepts and broadcasts it or rejects it.

For more information on on getblocktemplate: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Getblocktemplate

Clear as mud???

Anyway,
It is normal behavior for pushpool and this version daemon and nothing to worry about. If you want the new address to show up in the account listing, just generate a few new addresses (with names so it is easy to keep track) and you will see the address that shows in the explorer.

Code:
getnewaddress [account]

Where account is what you want to name the account.

Just a quick update.

The faucet is 95% done. It is functional.

Two things left to do:

1. Find a new captcha system. Minteye was not loading a picture half the time. The frame and control would load all the time, just not the ad itself.

2. Right now the system is round based on number of entries. After the round pays out the current stored addresses and IPs are erased from the database. I need to make that into a cron job every 24 hours, but keep the payout rounds every so many entries.

I will let you know when it is fully functional and ready for action.

JKC faucet is up for testing!!

For now it is round based, as adding in the 24 hour reset will take a bit of time and I want to get the faucet running.

I have set it for 50 entry rounds and will adjust as necessary, at least until I get the 24 hour clock implemented.

Entries are worth 1 JKC.

Remember this is still a testing phase, so while it is live and the payouts are real, I still need the community to give me feedback on bugs etc..

Once I get the round entry number dialed in so it is reasonable or the 24 hr clock get implemented, We can start working on the visual appeal.  Wink
