Why use Bitcoins ?

ITS CHEAP
Central governments can?t take it away
There are no chargebacks
People can?t steal your payment information from merchants
It isn?t inflationary
It?s as private as you want it to be
You don?t need to trust anyone else
You own it
You can create your own money

I just cannot see any reason for the average consumer to use Bitcoins. Until average consumers start using Bitcoins they will just be an experiment and a small speculative bubble.

I have my personal reasons, I am interested Bitcoins them as a tech person, speculative investor and person that follows evolving treads and markets. I am just struggling to see any.. benefits for the average consumer at this stage.   

Why are you coming to this forum? If you are a member here, I think you should not be asking stupid questions, we all want to use bitcoin for profit. There are many ways to make money from it, since it attracts many users.

One, it is because we all need an online payment gateway akin to PayPal. Right now, Bitcoin is better than PayPal in so many ways though there is no way to complain if someone is scamming you.

Bitcoin is not only a vessel to store value but it's also really useful in the remittance industry. I can send 100,000$ paying a mere 4$ in fees with Bitcoin while it would cost me 3000$ with PayPal and I'd take some risk to do the paypal transaction while doing the same thing from a traditional bank would cost some money,time & would probably raise questions.

I agree with you guys. Paypal is one on my big motivations to look at alternative payment and money transfer systems. Paypal is not a safe or reliable method for a seller to do business. The charge backs have created a large scam and made it very unstable for sellers.

As a web designer and developer I can not take payments tru Paypal. If someone does a chargeback months later I have 0 protection because I sold a non-tangible good. Someone could need money to pay thier mortgage, decide the business was a bad idea, whatever reason they could get all the money back. and if you do not have it in the acct linked to Paypal they will freeze it. I am not going to put hundreds of hours of work into that kind of risk.

I am looking for a nice clean crypto payment solution that I can get paid on bench marks and phases of a project. After I get paid for the agreed upon terms the money is safely mine. Just how contracts and deals are designed to work.

To research and study crypto currency.

If you are a member here, I think you should not be asking stupid questions, we all want to use bitcoin for profit. There are many ways to make money from it, since it attracts many users.

You are telling me asking Why would the population use bitcoins ? is "stupid" ?

Bitcoins and cypto currency has a problem. It has no mainstream practical use. This is problem because without that all this "value" is just a bubble.

You are probably running around like a clueless lemming thinking they got in on some secret at the "ground level". This is what all Lemmings in bubbles think. Others are researching and developing real world ways to use crypto currencies.

Why would someone use it ? is the first thing to ask in the realm of design and development.

Well the reason for people holding onto bitcoin is because of its high value for investing. Some retailers now accept bitcoin as a payment but I see at as a loss instead of a profit. Another reason for me holding my bitcoins is because I always convert it to fiat whenever I receive them from my campaign signature. People mainly use bitcoins only for investment or gambling. Well maybe an advantage of bitcoin is its nature and accessibility to average persons like us since we can earn it easily through different methods.

Every person use bitcoin according to their own concern. Some people use bitcoin for the purpose of gambling, entertaining porn and in any other criminal sense, but many of them are using bitcoin being a full time employee for the purpose of source of income and totally depended on bitcoin earning.

I think the main purpose of use of bitcoin should be to promote bitcoin to be recognized a legal currency across the world. I think there must be many competitors in the market regarding currency, because I think it may be proved helpful for masses in future, thus being a good competitor bitcoin should be used.

We need to use bitcoin in order to fasten our transactions and also to secure our selves from identity theft because we can secure our self by the feature of bitcoin for being anonymous and we don't need to put our infos about our personal things in bitcoin transaction because the only required thing is the bitcoin address.

I can understand that you are frustrated because of the fees till that point all was fine with you wasn't it. The average consumer is smart and that's why they go for Bitcoins. Say you have 100$ a week back both in Fiat and Bitcoins, today your Fiat would yet be 100$ and Bitcoins would have gained 50 - 80$ and less the fees when you transact that's almost double so why wouldn't they I'f they don't I consider them dumb period.

I like bitcoin because I don't pay taxes in bitcoin, it is convenient to pay for goods and services on the Internet and the most important thing that bitcoin price is constantly going up. The periodic drops in price does not affect the overall statistics for the year.

You have a point. Taxation is such a big deal for every traders. Since bitcoin is decentralized, government can't manipulate it which cause people who uses it to be more comfortable and more satisified for every transactions that they are making.

I didn't say the average consumer "cannot" use bitcoin. I said they have no reason to. They have reason not to -Fees and complications.

The average consumer will not pay more for complications. and they will not go tru complications to pay more. That has negative value, no one intentionally buys negative value.
My question is digging for value bitcoin can offer the average consumer.

I think the more user bitcoin has, the merrier, it may be a non tech or tech savvy, as long as they know what and how bitcoin is use, it is all good.

I agree the more users the better. The problem is not many people are using it. Only speculative buyers=bubble.

Until bitcoin and crypto currency becomes attractive valuable to use it will just be an experiment and a speculative bubble that will come crashing down.

bitcoin cost less if you send money to your friends that live in another country, international wire transfer cost a lot of money, i prefer bitcoin it's cheaper, many consumer now like bitcoin because it cn increase in value, bitcoin now is used like a safe heaven like gold, and not much for purchase, in japan they use it for shoping because maybe they have discount on some shop

Actually many reasons why many people use bitcoin. My main reason why I prefer bitcoin because bitcoin is more in the community. So it can be accepted anywhere. Have the bitcoin we can get faster profit. Because the price of the fluctuating bitcoin.

Me myslef is an avearage consumer, I don't have any investments on bitcoin but I just earn my bitcoins with these signature campaign, I just saved them, use them in trading and started some of my good profits. Bitcoin, from my experience here, it is just like an extra income or side job.

Well, bitcoin is very profitable and it is a good investments. In addition to that, as of now many people already invest in bitcoin because they know that they could earn a lot of income and it has a high value in all cryptocurrency. Having bitcoin is an opportunity to become rich in the future. Lastly, many people believe in bitcoin that it will help them to get rich in the future.
